China. Activate the students' prir knwledge abut Xi'an
Say: Xi'an is a very famus city. Many peple cme frm different cuntries t visit
Xi'an. What d yu knw abut Xi'an? Why d yu think it is s special? D yu
knw any ther places f interest in China? Write the students' answers n the
blackbard and discuss.

Play the auditape fr Lessn 3: Part 1 (Xi'an-the Walled City) and cmplete the
exercise.
STEP 3: LISTEN AND READ
Play the auditape fr Lessn 3: Part 1(Xi'an-the Walled City)a secnd time. Ask the
class t listen and read alud with the auditape.
STEP 4: BREAK IT DOWN
1)After yu've listened t Part I f the lessn, review what was learned. Explain t the
class that Part I f the lessn is an advertisement fr Xi'an.

1) Prvide each small grup with a selectin f print advertisements (taken frm
magazines r ff the Internet).
2) Ask the students t chse ne advertisement and analyze it. They shuld lk
carefully at the ad and answer the fllwing questins:
*What is this advertisement fr? (What is it prmting?)
*Is it a gd advertisement? (Des it attract yur attentin?)
*Why is it a gd r bad advertisement? (Is it interesting, funny, cl, beautiful, etc.?)
*Wuld yu buy what is being advertised?
*What wuld yu change abut this ad t make it better? (Wuld yu use different
clurs, pictures, etc.?)
LANGUAGE NOTES
1.A Visit t Xi'an 西安之旅
visit 在此作名词,意为“游览,参观,访问”。visit 也可以作动词,表示“访
问,拜访,参观”。例如:
