    All eight species f panglins, fur in Africa and fur in Asia, are in danger f extinctin due t the illegal trade. Internatinal trade in the fur species f Asian panglins has been banned since 2000. In the past few years, a ban n internatinal cmmercial trade in all eight species has gne int effect. It was vted by 183 gvernments that are parties t the Cnventin n Internatinal Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), which is in charge f crss-brder trade in wild animals and their parts.
    Panglins are eaten as bushmeat in western and central Africa and by sme lcal grups in Suth and Sutheast Asia.
