A team f Danish scientists spent 18 mnths and discvered the Kalenjins had remarkably slw heart rates even when running lng distances. The Kalenjins live in high-elevatin (高海拔) villages in western Kenya. Peple living there prduce mre red bld cells, which supprt the transprt f xygen thrughut the bdy. Scientists believe there is a cnnectin between increased red bld cells and lw heart rates and that bth may enable high-altitude athletes t utperfrm thse wh train at lw elevatin.
