In additin, a reprt prepared by the state f Califrnia's Office f Envirnmental Health Hazard Assessment(OEHHA) cncluded that synthetic fd dyes“cause r wrsen neurbehaviral prblems in sme children”.
    In respnse t the reprt, Califrnia is nw thinking abut requiring warning labels n fd prducts cntaining the seven mst cmmnly used synthetic dyes. Amng them are Red 40, Yellw 5 and Yellw 6, which accunt fr mre than 90% f fd dye. Restaurants in Califrnia wuld als have t identify menu items cntaining the additives.
    “The science is clear,” says Lisa Lefferts, an envirnmental health cnsultant. “These synthetic dyes harm children and are cmpletely unnecessary.”
    What makes the OEHHA reprt a game change r is that a regulatry agency is n the same page as scientists and advcacy(拥护) grups. “That's largely because f the quality f the reprt,” says Lefferts, ne f 10 riginal signatries t the petitin.
