连词是指连接单词、短语、句子。分为并列连词和从属连词。
并列连词：连接层次相同，意义相关的单词、短语、从句。
从属连词：连接从句，用于引导主语，表语、主语、同位语，宾语从句。
二、并列连词
并列连词有表示并列关系、选择关系、因果关系、转折关系的词
（一）并列关系
这类连词主要有：and（和），（既...也...）；nt als...（不仅...而且...）；as well as（也）；（既不...也不...）
1．用法讲解：
(1) and
①表示“和，又，而且”
Let him put away bks and sme tys. 让他收拾好书和一些玩具。
② 表示结果，可翻译为“因此”
He fell heavily and brke his arm. 他摔得很重，手臂都摔断了。
③表示动作的先后，可翻译为“然后，接着”
She came in and tk ff her cat. 她进来然后脱了外套。
④和祈使句一起搭配使用，祈使句后接and，表示条件，可翻译为“那么，然后”
D that again and I'll call a pliceman. 你再这样做我就要叫警察了。
（2）主谓一致原则
① as well as，句子的谓语动词遵循就远原则，即as well as后的名词不看，只看第一个主语。
My mum, as well as my sisters is busy with husewrk.
我妈妈还有我姐姐们忙于家务活。
② ，nt als...，句子中的谓语动词遵循就近原则，即动词的单复数看最靠近它的名词。
Neither my mum nr my sisters are busy with husewrk.
我的妈妈和姐姐们都不忙于家务活。
Nt nly sisters but als my mum is busy with husewrk.
不仅我的姐姐们，而且我妈都忙于家务活。
③ 做主语，谓语动词用复数。
Bth my sisters and my mum are busy with husewrk.
我的姐姐们和我妈妈都忙于家务活。

（二）转折关系
这类连词有：but（但是）；hwever（然而）；yet（但是，然而）；while（而，却）；still（然而，不过）；nt B...（不是A，而是B）

Mary 是一个好女孩，但是她有一个缺点。
2. Tm gt up early, yet he failed t catch the train.
Tm很早起床，但是他未能赶上火车。
3. Reading is nt my jb,but my life.
阅读不是我的工作，而是我的生活。
4． The children were playing utside while Mary was writing a letter．（while连接的2个句子是对等关系）玛丽写信时，孩子们在外面玩耍。

（三）选择关系
这类连词有：r（或者）；（要么...要么...）
He desn't like dumplings r ndles. 他不喜欢饺子或者面条。
He is either n hliday r at wrk. 他要么就是在度假，要么就是在工作。
1．用法
祈使句后连接r，表示条件，可译为“否则...”
Hurry up，r yu will be late fr schl. 快点，否则你就要上学迟到。
2．主谓一致原则
① 句子中的谓语动词遵循就近原则，即动词的单复数看最靠近它的名词。
Either my mum r my sisters are ging t France fr hliday.
我妈妈或者姐姐们会去法国度假。

（四）因果关系
这类连词有：fr（因为），s（所以），therefre（因此）
1．用法讲解
①fr 译为”因为“，对前面的情况加以解释，常用逗号分开。
Yu'd better put n yur jacket, fr it is cld utside. 你最好把夹克穿上，因为外面冷。
②s 表示结果，译为“因此，所以”
It was late s I went hme. 现在晚了所以我要回家了。
【注意】s 和because 不能出现在一个句子。
Because it is raining heavily utside, s we can't g ut.(x)
③ therefre 是副词，译为“因此”，可放在句前或者句中。
He brke the rules f the schl ,therefre he had t leave schl.
他理反了校规，因此不得不退学。
