The night befre my marathn, I dreamed that I culdn’t even find the finish line. I wke up sweating and nervus, but ready t prve smething t myself.
Shrtly after crssing the start line, my she laces (鞋带) became untied. S I stpped t readjust. Nt the start I wanted!
At mile 3, I passed a sign: “GO FOR IT, RUNNERS!”
By mile 17, I became ut f breath and the nce injured ankle hurt badly. Despite the pain, I stayed the curse walking a bit and then running again.

As I gt clse t mile 23, I culd see my wife waving a sign. She is my biggest fan. She never minded the alarm clck sunding at 4 am r questined my expenses n running.
I was ne f the final runners t finish. But I finished! And I gt a medal. In fact, I gt the same me dal as the ne that the guy wh came in first place had.

“Lng time n see.” is a very interesting sentence. When I first read this sentence frm an American friend's e-mail, I laughed. I thught it was a perfect example f Chinglish.
Obviusly, it is a wrd-by-wrd literal (字面意思的) translatin f the Chinese greeting with ruined English grammar and structure! Later n, my friend tld me that it is a standard American greeting. I was t surprised t believe her. Her wrds culd nt cnvince me at all. S I did research n Ggle. cm. T my surprise, there are ver 60 thusand web pages cntaining “Lng time n see.” This sentence has been widely used in e-mails, letters, newspapers, mvies, bks, r ther pssible places. Thugh it is srt f infrmal, it is part f the language that Americans use daily. Irnically, if yu type this phrase in Micrsft Wrd, the sftware will tell yu that the grammar needs t be crrected.
Nbdy knws the rigin f this Chinglish sentence. Sme peple believe that it came frm Charlie Chan’s mvies. Detective Chan liked t teach Americans sme Chinese wisdm by quting (引用) Cnfucius. “Lng time n see.” was his trademark... Sn after Charlie Chan, “Lng time n see.” became a ppular phrase in America thanks t the ppularity f these mvies.
Sme schlars cmpare America t a huge melting pt. All kinds f cultures are mixed in the pt tgether, and they change the clr and taste f each ther. American Chinese, thugh a minrity ethnic grup (少数民族) in the United States, is als cntributing sme changes t the stew! Language is usually the first thing t be influenced in the mixed pt.
Yu can have sme ther examples besides adptin frm Chinese, such as pizza frm Italian, sushi frm Japanese, and dejà vufrm French etc. There is a lng list! Americans d nt just simply brrw smething frm thers. They will als mdify it and make it their wn, s yu wuld nt be surprised t find a tfu and peanut butter hamburger in a restaurant, r t buy a bttle f iced Chinese green tea with hney in a grcery stre. Since Americans appreciate Chinese culture mre and mre nwadays, I believe mre Chinese wrds will becme American English in the future. In this way, the American’s melting pt keeps adding richness and flavr.
    32. What did the writer himself feel surprised at?
    A. The Chinglish expressin “Lng time n see.”
    B. S many literal translatins f the expressins used in America.
    C. “Lng time n see.” is used as a standard American English greeting.
    D. Finding ut Americans use the expressin every day.

    C. The huge melting pt greatly affects all kinds f languages.
    D. Hllywd made “Lng time n see.” ppular.
