    Sectin A
Directins: After reading the passage belw, fill in the blanks t make the passage cherent and grammatically crrect. Fr the blanks with a given wrd, fill in each blank with the prper frm f the given wrd; fr the ther
blanks, use ne wrd that best fits each blank.
Indr vs utdr exercising: Which is mre prductive?
Peple tend t lean heavily n the gym when it cmes t exercise. The gym is just an easy cncept: yu g and the machines are right there. Yu get the wrkut dne and yu leave. But maybe that’s the prblem.
Is it better fr yur bdy, health and fitness gals t wrk ut in the pen air 21 cnditins vary? It depends n s many factrs, but the shrt answer is yes: Science says it is, in fact, better t exercise utdrs.
Take running, fr example. In a study 22 (lk) at runners wh cvered the same distance n a treadmill (跑步机) and utdrs, the grup that ran inside were said 23 (cnsume) less energy than the utside grup. This is because f terrain changes and wind speed, which yu dn’t face in the cntrlled climate f gym. Yur bdy 24 ______ wrk harder, and thus yu burn mre calries.
Anther cnsideratin that 25 (make) exercising utside tugher, specifically in warmer mnths, is temperature. In mst gyms, the air cnditiners are blwing during the pen hurs t keep a cl and cmfrtable envirnment, meaning yu’re cnsuming less energy and sweating less than yu wuld if yu were ding the same activity in the great utdrs.
In additin, a systematic study n the effects f physical activity utside in a natural envirnment versus indrs revealed the fact 26 amng peple ding the same activity, the utdr exercises shwed “greater feelings f refreshment and psitive engagement; decreases in tensin, cnfusin, anger and depressin; and 27 (increase) energy” afterward.
28 many advantages, wrking utside has its limitatins. Frm changeable weather t safety cncerns, it’s nt always 29 ptin. The bttm line? Switch up yur wrkut and get utside as much as yu can, but dn’t bther abut it if the gym is a 30 (practical) chice fr yu. Ding any wrkut is amazing fr yur bdy and health.
    Sectin B
Directins: Fill in each blank with a prper wrd chsen frm the bx. Each wrd can be used nly nce. Nte that there is ne wrd mre than yu need.
Unlcking the Secrets f Yur Night
Mst peple d nt realize that dreams take up abut 25% f the night’s sleep, and each dream perid lasts frm 5 t 20 minutes. There is n dubt that dreams play an imprtant rle in ur lives. If they can be crrectly 31 —and that is a big “if”—we can cme t understand urselves better. Here, we lk at three cmmn dreams and what they ptentially symblize.
Dream 1: I can see their laughing faces laughing at me. But they aren’t as smart. If they were, they’d be up here flying with me!
This dream has bth psitive and negative 32 . On the psitive side, the dream may express a strng desire t travel and get away frm everyday 33 . It may als symblize a pwerful desire t achieve. On the ther hand, this dream can mean the persn has a prblem r is 34 f smething and they wish t escape. The dream culd represent feelings f inferirity, which the dreamer attempts t get rid f by literally and physically 35 themselves abve thers.
Dream 2: I’m mving fast nw, but it’s still behind me. It desn’t matter hw fast I g. I still can’t escape.
Althugh this is a traditinal symbl f health and 36 , it can suggest the dreamer is trying t escape frm danger. Usually, fear is the dminant emtin. By 37 hard, the dreamer can pssibly escape the threat. Hwever, they can als stp mving. This makes the fear even mre terrifying. One pssible explanatin is that the persn is under pressure in their everyday life.
Dream 3: I’m sweating and my heart is beating. I’m trapped. Trapped in my wn bed.
This symbl is assciated with fear and embarrassment: suddenly the dreamer lses all pwer f mvement. They try hard t mve their arms and legs, but they simply cannt; 38 in’ a terrifying situatin with n escape, they becme mre and mre terrified as the secnds g by. Anther frequent 39 fr this dream is failing t d smething in public, ften smething that yu are nrmally very gd at, such as yur jb. Nt nly is this extremely embarrassing, but it als shws a(n) 40 fear f lsing a jb and a livelihd.
    III. Reading Cmprehensin (45分)

What’s s bad abut prcessed fds?
Prcessed fds like chips, sda and frzen pizzas are full f salt, sugar and fat. Nw scientists are trying t understand if there is smething else abut such fds that may be bad fr humans. Already, the spread f cheap, 41 fds has been linked t rising besity rates arund the wrld. Three recent studies ffer mre 42 n hw ur increasingly industrialized fd supply may be affecting ur health.
What des prcessed fd 43 ?
The researchers came up with a system that grups fds int fur categries. The system says highly prcessed fds are made 44 f industrialized ingredients and additives. Sdas, instant ndles and chicken nuggets are sme examples f highly prcessed fds. But als included are prducts that can 45 beneficial t health, such as mrning cereals, energy bars and sme kinds f ygurt.
    What’s wrng with prcessed fds?
Researchers at the Natinal Institutes f Health cnducted a fur-week study invlving 20 peple. They fund that peple eat abut 500 mre calries a day when 46 mstly prcessed fd. That is cmpared with when the same peple were given 47 prcessed fds. The researchers permitted the 20 participants t eat as much r as little as they wanted. They were taken t a medical center s their health and behavir culd be 48 .
In anther study, researchers in France fund peple wh ate mre prcessed fds were mre likely t have heart disease. A similar study in Spain linked eating mre prcessed fds t a higher risk f death 49 .
What is it abut prcessed fds?
When given less prcessed fds, peple in the study 50 mre f a hrmnes that suppressed appetite, and less f a hrmne that causes hunger. The reasn fr the 51 is nt clear. The scientists als fund that peple ate prcessed fds faster.
Kevin Hall is ne f the researchers wh led the study. He tld the AP that prcessed fds 52 be sfter and easier t chew and swallw. Hall nted the surce f nutrients might 53 . Fiber frm whle fruits and vegetables, fr instance, may be better fr making peple feel full than the types f fiber added t packaged fds such as energy bars and ygurt.
    What shuld yu eat?
Limiting prcessed fds can be hard, especially fr peple with limited time and energy. “What 54 me is when the message is, ‘Change the way we eat,’ withut thinking abut why peple eat the way they eat,” said Sarah Bwen, a prfessr wh studies fd and inequality.
Anther challenge is the brad range f prcessed fds, and 55 which nes might be better r wrse as cmpanies cntinually re-engineer prducts t mislead cnsumers. S while the newest studies may give us mre reasns t avid industrialized fds, they als underlie the difficulty f cming up with slutins.

Imagine if yur clthes culd pick up the sunds f everything ging n arund yu. Scientists have created a fibre (纤维) which can pick up sunds and culd be used as a hearing aid, t mnitr heartbeats r even in spacecraft.
The new fibre wrks like a micrphne. It picks up sunds and turns them int vibratins (震动) and then electrical signals, in a similar way t hw ears wrk. When wven (编织) int a shirt, the researchers say the fibre can even detect a wearer’s heartbeat. The fibre can hear sunds as lw as thse in a quiet library t luder sunds like heavy rad traffic. It can even accurately tell the directin f sudden sunds like handclaps.
The fibre was created by engineers at Massachusetts Institute f Technlgy (MIT) and researchers at Rhde Island Schl f Design. “Wearing a piece f clthing that can hear, yu might talk thrugh it t answer phne calls and cmmunicate with thers,” said lead authr Yet Wan, wh created the technlgy at MIT.
Once they had created the fibre, the team wve it int a mre traditinal piece f clthing which was much mre flexible. When it was wven int the back f a shirt it was able t pick up the sund f peple clapping, even picking up the directin the clapping was cming frm. When wven int the shirt’s inner lining (内衬) it culd pick up the persn’s heartbeat, which the researchers think culd be used in a pregnant wman’s clthes t mnitr a baby’s heartbeat.
As well as wearable hearing aids, and clthes that track yur heartbeat, the team says there are pssibilities beynd clthing. “It can be integrated with spacecraft skin t listen t space dust, r embedded int (嵌入) buildings t detect cracks r strains,” Yet suggests. “It can even be wven int a smart net t mnitr fish in the cean.”
63.What is the scientists’ new inventin?
A.A lightweight fibre.B.A new spacecraft skin.
C.A fibre that can hear.D.A micrphne that can talk.

    The Rise f Pp-up Chefs
Jeremy Baras remembers the first time he ever saw a pp-up a restaurant. The 26-year-ld entrepreneur was n vacatin in England fur years ag and had t lk up at the Lndn Eye Ferries wheel t see it. 67 “I thught that was the clest thing ever”, he says. Baras, wh funded PpUpRepublic. cm in 2012 t prmte the idea f pp-up restaurants in USA, has been studying them ever since.
Pp-ups, which have been arund since the early 2000s, are pen anywhere frm a few hurs t several mnths, but their defining feature is that they are temprary. They may be nly a tiny part f the $709 billin U.S. restaurant industry, but ppups have gtten a bst in recent years as a lwer-cst, lwer-risk way fr entrepreneurs t test the waters. 68 And sme struggling cities, like Oakland, Calif., have turned t them t help revitalize lcal ecnmies affected by the ecnmic dwnturn.
The cncept has been especially ppular with up-and-cming chefs wh want t test-drive as a menu cncept withut investing a frtune in a permanent space. “Yur cks and chefs are really talented. 69 Ours, quite the cntrary.” says Zach Kupperman, chief businessman fficer and c-funder f Dinner Lab. Pp-ups’ temprary nature als allws restaurateurs t charge extra. Dinner Lab, fr instance, charges diners an annual membership fee f $125 t $175, depending n where they live, plus $50 t $85 a head fr each meal. “It’s the fear f missing ut,” explains Zach.
70 There is n guarantee that diners wn’t grw tired f the cncept. Sme entrepreneurs have resrted t even a weirder lcatin — in a frmer limestne mine, say, r at the tp f a crane — t keep custmers interested.

Hw t Be a Successful Team Leader?
Every well-rganized team needs t have an utstanding leader with specific skills. Smetimes the leader’s abilities can cme t affect the whle team. Althugh we students are still yung, it’s never t early t cultivate leadership skills.
A team cnsists f bth leaders and fllwers. Neither side can exist and wrk effectively withut the ther. What is essential t the rle f leader is the ability t unite the whle team. A great leader enables their team t achieve a cmmn gal thrugh the giving f clear directins and supprt. Meanwhile, everyne n a team als desires persnal success, s a balance can be hard t strike. If a leader desn’t have fierce determinatin, the fllwers will lse their cnfidence and things will nt be dne well.
What’s mre, a successful and charming leader ught t be able t handle interpersnal relatinships well. They shuld be hnest, fair, bjective and impartial (公正的) when it cmes t bth rewards and punishments. These kinds f leaders are trustwrthy, and thus, the wrking atmsphere will nly cme t be imprved. They are rle mdels wh can have a strng influence n the whle team.
T becme a pwerful leader at schl, students have t take the initiative in cnnecting with their fellw students. Gd cmmunicatin skills allw peple t build gd relatinships, which is an essential part f being a gd leader. If yu find it hard t express yur ideas clearly t thse wh yu cllabrate with, it may be rather difficult fr yu t be a gd leader.
It’s a well-knwn fact that, whatever field yu wish t wrk in, leadership skills are necessary fr anyne wh desires t have a successful career. S it’s never t early t train yurselves as prmising future leaders.
