"Five f the 11 mst distant stars in ur galaxy have psitins and velcities that match 6 yu wuld expect f stars stripped frm the Sagittarius dwarf," they said in 7 statement. "The ther six d nt appear t be frm Sagittarius, but might have been remved frm a different dwarf galaxy." Overall, the hapless dwarf might have lst abut a third f its stars and a full nine-tenths f its dark matter.
This resulted 8 three distinct streams f stars that reach as far as ne millin light-years frm the Milky Way's center. Mapping prjects like the Slan Digital Sky Survey have charted ne f the three streams 9 (predict) by these simulatins, but nt t the full extent that the mdels suggest, the researchers said. Future instruments like the Large Synptic Survey Telescpe, which will detect much fainter stars acrss the sky, shuld be able t identify the ther streams, they added.
