While sme dictinaries define the wrd “right” as “a privilege” when used in the cntext f “human rights”, we are talking abut smething mre basic. There is n questin that these are imprtant rights, but the full scpe f human rights is very brad. They mean chice and pprtunity. They mean the freedm t get a jb, adpt a career, select a partner f ne’s chice and raise children. They include the right t travel widely and the right t wrk withut truble, abuse and threat f arbitrary (霸道) dismissal. They even embrace the right t leisure.
In ages past, there were n human rights. Then the idea turned up that peple shuld have certain freedms. And that idea, in the wake f Wrld War II, resulted finally in the dcument called the Universal Declaratin f Human Rights and the thirty rights t which all peple are entitled.
