    S at just 14, Gupta started Sight Learning, an rganizatin that cllects used eyeglasses frm ptmetrists (验光师) and dnates them t
    rganizatins that can deliver them t children in need.
    Fr Gupta, wh has wrn glasses since he was 5 years ld, the idea f repurpsing ld eyewear made sense. Mst f his family members wear
    glasses, and just searching his wn hme yielded psitive results. “I fund 10 t 15 pairs just lying arund the huse in the drawers,” Gupta said.
    With the help frm his father, Gupta apprached lcal ptmetrists, wh agreed t put ut drp bxes where patients culd dnate their used
    eyeglasses after getting a new pair.
    Since 2011, Gupta has dnated 9,500 pairs f glasses, wrth nearly $500,000, t yung peple in Haiti, Hnduras, India and Mexic. Gupta knws
    that the glasses he’s prviding can make a big impact. “A lt f times, these families are in pverty (贫困),” he said. “With a gd educatin, they can

    extinct, and ther species likely are never identified t written science befre their extinctin, the paper says.
    Despite several hummingbird species seen at feeders in Nrth America during the summer, a wide range f threats has caused many hummingbird
    ppulatins t drp, including climate change, wildfires, habitat pllutin and lss.
    “Climate change affects them in a number f ways that we knw abut and prbably many mre that we dn’t,” Ernest says. “One example is a
    mismatch f migratin (迁徙) timing with plant flwering that hummingbirds depend n. Sme hummingbird species are generalists in that they get
    nectar (花蜜) frm all flwers, but many are specialists, even t ne r a few species f flwering plants. If thse plants disappear, s d the

    Vitusek thinks a lt abut pssible slutins fr prblems like ersin. He says the mst successful lng-term slutins will likely be nes that wrk
    with nature. Sme shrt-term slutins, such as trucking in mre sand, can be expensive. A medium-term slutin is building barrier islands ff the cast
    t weaken and slw incming waves. They will als prvide habitat fr wildlife but require maintenance (维护). The best lng-term slutin is t fight
    climate change.
