Hneybees cmmand a lt f attentin in insect cnservatin circles, as they are imprtant fr pllinating ur fd supply. But the findings frm researchers emphasize the imprtance f priritizing ther pllinatrs r insects like wild bees, mths and butterflies in cnservatin effrts, t.
Fr the study, eclgists Jshua Khn and Dilln Travis frm the University f Califrnia, painstakingly tracked the pllinatin f flwers frm tw plant species in San Dieg — white sage and Phacelia distans. Often Travis sat fr hurs waiting fr a single pllinatr, hneybees r ther insects, t land n a flwer. Each time he put a mesh(网状的) bag n the flwer t prevent any new visitr, then back t cllect seeds frm different visitrs. Back in the greenhuse, the team grew the seeds, analyzing characteristics that reflected their quality, such as hw many seeds grew and survived and hw many leaves r flwer seedlings(幼苗) grew frm them.
They fund flwers pllinated by hneybees make fewer and lwer-quality seeds than flwers visited by ther pllinatrs. The white sage and Phacelia distans plants prduced rughly half the amunt f seeds frm flwers pllinated by hneybees cmpared with ther pllinatrs. And Phacelia distans seeds frm hneybee-pllinated plants grew int seedlings with fewer flwers.
The researchers als fund that hneybees visited abut twice as many flwers n ne plant befre mving t the next than the average f ther pllinatrs, causing hneybees t transfer mre pllen in flwers f the same plant, thus resulting in fewer and lwer-quality and mre inbred(近亲繁殖的) seeds. Other pllinatrs mre ften flew between different plants, prbably transferring mre diverse pllen.

30. What did Travis think f their findings?
A . Wrrying. B . Misleading. C . Creative. D . Helpful.
31. What is Jaya Sravanthi Mkkapati's pint f view?

Hwever, the ways in which MCB creates a cling effect, and the ways in which cluds will respnd t aersls, are still prly understd. T investigate the phenmenn, the researchers created a "natural experiment", using aersl injectin frm the effusive eruptin f Kilauea vlcan in Hawaii t study the interactins between these natural aersls, cluds, and climate.
Using machine learning and histric satellite and meterlgical(气象学的) data, the team created a predictr t shw hw the clud wuld behave during perids when the vlcan was inactive. This predictr enabled them t identify clearly the impacts n the cluds that had been directly caused by the vlcanic aersls.
They were able t shw that the clud cver relatively increased by up t 50% during the perids f vlcanic activity, prducing a cling effect f up t — 10 W/m² reginally.
Lead authr, Dr Ying Chen, f the University f Birmingham, said, "Our findings shw that marine clud brightening culd be mre effective as a climate interventin than climate mdels have suggested previusly. Of curse, while it culd be useful, MCB des nt address the underlying causes f glbal warming frm greenhuse gases prduced by human activities. It shuld therefre be regarded as a ‘painkiller', rather than a slutin."
32. Hw des MCB help glbal cling accrding t the study?
A . By decreasing the amunt f sunlight. B . By bsting the vlume f clud cver. C . By reducing the amunt f clud cver. D . By remving greenhuse gases frm the atmsphere.
33. What des the underlined wrd "ffsetting" mean in paragraph 3?

34. What des Dr Ying Chen think f MCB?
