The 2018 Chicag Marathn was my fifth attempt at the distance. The starting gun cracked, and a grin spread acrss my face as a chill raced up my arms and dwn my back. Accmpanied by my pacer(配速员), I dashed frward, pwerful and cnfident in my ability t run the exact race plan I had made with my cach.
The race dragged n, and with less than 10 miles t g, my bdy started t feel the effects f running at a fast pace fr a lng time. “Dad, I knw yu will win the race, ”I thught f what my three-year-ld sn said befre the race. It gave me the mtivatin.
Shrtly after mile 22, I was making a right turn when disaster struck. I stepped in a hle, caught the edge, and felt an artificial leg cming ff.
