When seeking t understand bth sides f an issue, it’s imprtant t knw the difference between facts and pinins. Remember, facts are based n true infrmatin. Opinins can change frm persn t persn. Paying attentin t facts can stp biases (偏见) frm taking ver in a disagreement. This can help everyne invlved see bth sides f the issue.

Sharks and their relatives are sme f the mst threatened vertebrates (脊椎动物) n Earth. Cral reefs (珊瑚礁) prvide hmes fr cuntless fish species that are vital fr fisheries and are therefre an especially imprtant ecsystem fr humans — and ne where the decline f shark ppulatins seems t be especially sharp.
The study by Simpfendrfer with his team is the result f an act f wrldwide cperatin called the Glbal FinPrint Prject. The data analyzed include mre than 20,000 hurs f standardized underwater vide taken at nearly 400 reefs in 67 cuntries arund the wrld. Their result s shw that althugh shark ppulatins in many reefs had declined, sme health y reef shark ppulatins remained. The reefs with healthier shark ppulatin s had sme imprtant similarities: they tended t be in the waters f high-incme cuntries with strnger natural resurce management laws and rules. Unfrtunately, such cuntries were relatively rare, and lwer-incme cuntries tended t have fewer resurces fr ec-friendly management.
The mst unexpected result f the study is that a decline r cmplete lss f shark species in ne reef was nt always assciated with similar changes in nearby reefs. They fund that ne reef culd be verfished s badly that a nce-cmmn reef shark species was ttally gne, but anther reef a shrt distance away culd have healthy ppulatins f that same species.
The prblem is clear -animals that prvide ecsystem services that are vital fr human fd security and livelihds are disappearing at an alarming rate. The lss f sharks and the ecsystem services they prvide represents an eclgical disaster that can cause substantial harm t humans.

A.Citizens there had a strng envirnmental awareness.
B.Science and ecnmics were imprving fast in such areas.
C.The waters in these areas were suitable fr sharks t live in.
D.They were well-develped areas with strict envirnmental laws.
14.What can be inferred frm the last tw paragraphs?
A.Humans and animals cexist in ecsystem.
B.Overfishing is a cntributing factr t the decline f sharks.
C.It’s uncertain whether humans cause the decrease f sharks.
