I dn't think I can recall a time when I wasn't aware f the beauty f the cean. Grwing up in Australia, I had the gd frtune t have the sea at my side. The first time I went t Half Mn Bay, I suddenly had the feeling f nt being able t feel the grund with my feet anymre.

This statistic is depressing, s it's imprtant fr us t d everything t prtect them. The hpe that the Cral Sea remains a cmplete ecsystem has led me t take actin. I've becme invlved with the Prtect Our Cral Sea activity, which aims t create the largest marine park in the wrld. It wuld serve as a place where the cean's species will all have a safe place frever.
Tgether, Angus and I created a little vide and we hpe it will mtivate peple t be a part f the mvement. Angus als shared many beautiful childhd memries f the cean as a yung by, wh grew up sailing, admiring the beauty f the cean, and trying t find the secrets f underwater marine species.

The builders f the ship say they hpe it can be used in the future t travel and research parts f ceans that are t difficult r dangerus fr peple t reach. If these can be handled by machines, it culd be a big advance in cean research.
Since the MAS didn't have t carry humans, its designers were free t think abut hw t make the best ship fr the jb. Apart frm cameras and radar t help the ship guide itself, the ship is carrying different kinds f tls and sensrs. It has special listening devices which can detect whales and dlphins and even a special “tngue” that can reprt back n the chemicals in the seawater.
Last Friday mrning, scientists tracking the ship nticed that it was ging abut half as fast as it shuld have been ging. The AI Captain was wrking well, but there seemed t be smething slwing the mtr dwn. Since the ship had nly cvered 10% f the way acrss the Atlantic, the team decided t bring it back t Plymuth s that they culd fix the prblem and send it ut again.
When the MAS finally des put ut t sea again, it is expected t take abut three weeks t crss the Atlantic Ocean. The fastest speed fr the MAS is abut 10 miles per hur. That may seem slw, but it's abut 5 times faster than the riginal Mayflwer, which tk 66 days t make the jurney.

    C. The scientists wanted t change the ship's rute.D. The ship needed t be serviced n a regular basis.
    31. What culd be the best title fr the text?
    A. A Rbtic Ship's Glbal VyageB. New Mayflwer Crssing The Atlantic
    C. New Mayflwer's Failed MissinD. AI Captain System Guiding A Rbtic Ship

With ffice develpers cmpeting fr space and height—just t make a statement, the age f the icnic ffice building is upn us. Let's start by explring what “icnic” actually means.

Since then, digital technlgy has mved frward at such a rate that it has pushed us int a new era f architectural innvatin.
Whatever yur views n these high-rise develpments, they have turned the Lndn skyline int an exciting, ever-changing landscape and, in the prcess, redefined the cncept f an icnic building. But we will still be talking abut them a century frm nw—as we d the Empire State Building — r will anther new wave f ffice blcks simply take their place?
    32. What is the feature f an icnic architecture?
    A. It is always changing.B. It needs cnstant testing.
    C. It has pineering and distinctive designs.D. It fllws the standards that were set earlier.
    33. What prmted the develpment f architectural innvatin?
    A. Digital technlgy.B. Architectural thery.
    C. Curisity abut pyramids.D. Accidental mves by talented designers.
    34. What des the underlined wrd “sparked” in paragraph 4 prbably mean?
    A. Gt rid f.B. Brught abut.C. Gave way t.D. Cnflicted with.
    35. What's the authr's attitude twards the icnic ffice buildings in Lndn?
    A. Psitive.B. Negative.C. Cncerned.D. Pessimistic.

    第一节(满分15分)
    66. One pssible versin (94 wrds):
    Dear editr,
Recently ur class had a heated discussin n whether the sea is wrth explring. Opinins are mainly divided int tw grups.
Sme students think sea explratin is nt wrth it, fr it will pllute the sea. Peple smetimes ver-explit the sea withut mercy, wrsening the marine ecsystem. Hwever, thers are cnvinced that explring the sea is beneficial t human beings. T better understand ur planet, we must explre the sea. Mrever, abundant in varieties f resurces, the sea helps us t slve the prblem f energy shrtages.
Persnally speaking, it's wrthwhile t explre the sea fr the benefit f future generatins. Meanwhile, it shuld be balanced with envirnmental prtectin.
    Yurs,
    Li Hua
    第二节(满分25分)
    67. One pssible versin (164 wrds):
Stephen and Martine fund the carpet and carried it t the pl. Then they fund a rpe smewhere and tied ne end f the rpe t the carpet and the ther t tw plside grab bars. They cut the carpet s that it extended int the pl and lay against the pl wall. “I hpe it wrks,” said Stephen. The tw cusins waited and waited, but the kala was nwhere t be seen. In the fllwing days, the “pl wall kala aid” was almst frgtten, leaving Martine a bit disappinted.
Finally, there came the familiar splash several days later. Hearing that, Stephen and Martine reacted with the same thught.: It culd be Mr. Baker's dg r... Outside they rushed. The water shne n the kala's furry head. He swam arund fr a while, and then headed tward the carpet. Grabbing it with his frnt feet, he slwly pulled himself up and ut f the water. With fur feet planted firmly n the grund, he shk himself and ran ff. Martine laughed, “I'll never frget this amazing experience and the swimming kala,” she laughed.
