现在分词是非谓语动词的一种,兼有动词和形容词的特征,在句中可作表语,定语,宾语补足语和状语,一般表示进行或主动的意思。 现在分词用作状语时,其逻辑主语必须与句子的主语一致,现在分词所表示的动作和句子的主语是主动关系。 现在分词在句中可以作时间、原因、条件、让步、方式、伴随、程度和结果状语。
1. 作时间状语 Seeing the plice, he made a run fr the exit. 一看到警察,他就朝出口奔去。 = When he saw the plice, he made a run fr the exit.
When he walked ut f the rm, he saw a dg.
____________ ut f the rm, he saw a dg.
将下面的时间状语从句改写成简单句。
2. 作原因状语 Being ill, he didn’t g t schl yesterday. 因为生病了,他昨天没有上学。 = Because he was ill, he didn’t g t schl yesterday.
= Nt knwing the way, he gt lst.
翻译句子:由于不识路,他迷路了。
As he ____________________, he gt lst.
didn’t knw the way
否定现在分词在其前面加nt。
现在分词作原因状语,一般位于句首,相当于as,since,because等引导的原因状语从句。
3. 作条件状语 Turning t the left, yu will see a schl. = If yu turn t the left, yu will see a schl.
If we ___________, we will get gd results.
翻译句子:努力学习, 我们就会取得好成绩。
Studying hard, we will get gd results.
现在分词作条件状语,相当于if,unless等引导的条件状语从句。
4. 作结果状语 The child fell, striking his head against the dr and cutting it. (那孩子跌倒了,头碰在门上磕破了。) = The child fell and struck his head against the dr and cutting it.
He went abrad, leaving his uncle a big huse.
翻译句子:他出国了,留给他叔叔一间大房子。
He went abrad and ________ his uncle a big huse.
现在分词作结果状语表示必然的结果,通常放在句末。
5. 作让步状语 Granting this t be true, we cannt explain it. 虽然我们承认这是事实,却无法予以说明。 = Althugh we grant this t be true, we cannt explain it.
= Knwing it is difficult, I dn’t give up.
Althugh I _________________, I dn’t give up.
knw it is difficult
现在分词作让步状语,相当于让步状语从句,一般翻译为“尽管...”或“即使...”等.有时现在分词(短语) 前可带有连词althugh,even if,even thugh 等。
翻译句子:即使我知道这很难。我也不会放弃。
6. 作伴随状语 1. The little by went upstairs, trailing his teddy bear behind him. 那个小男孩走上楼去,身后拖着他的玩具熊。 2. Emma was sitting in an armchair reading a bk. 艾玛坐在一张扶手椅上看书。
翻译下面句子: 他躺在草地上,凝望天空。
He lay n the grass and ___________ the sky.
He lay n the grass, staring at the sky.
现在分词作方式或伴随状语,说明谓语动词所表示的动作发生的方式、背景或情况。
7. 作评论性状语有些现在分词(短语)用于句首,没有逻辑主语而独立存在,作为句子的独立成分来修饰全句,表明说话者的态度、观点等,这被称为评论性状语。常见的分词短语有:generally (frankly, hnestly…)speaking, talking f(谈到), seeing that(考虑到), judging frm(从…判断)。 Generally speaking, girls are mre careful than bys. Judging frm his accent, he must be frm the nrth.Talking f cleaning, it’s abut time yu cleaned the huse.
现在分词作状语的学习中我们还应注意:
1. 为了使分词作状语表达的意思更明确,可在其 前面加上适当的连词:when, while, nce, if, thugh, unless, even 等。 eg When waiting fr the bus, he saw an ld friend. Once lsing the chance, yu can’t easily find it. Dn’t talk while having dinner.
2. 动词-ing形式动作和谓语动作的先后顺序
1) Walking in the park, I met an ld friend f mine.2) We walked as fast as we culd, hping t get there n time.结论:动词-ing形式所表示的动作和谓语动词同 时发生时,可用_________________________。
3) Having waited fr an hur, I became impatient.4) Having been t the Great Wall many times, he didn’t g last week.
结论:动词-ing形式所表示的动作在谓语动词之 前发生,有明显的先后顺序时,可用______________________________。
