Did we frget smething? Yes, even sme stadiums are built by Chinese cmpanies, while the suvenirs(纪念品) ne can buy there, t, are made in China.
That’s hw China has taken part in this Wrld Cup and earlier events, and may d s in the upcming nes t: by prviding prducts and services t the athletes and audiences alike, thus impressing the wrld with its technlgy and prducts.
While “Made in China” has left its stamp n earlier sccer Wrld Cups and ther sprts events, what makes the Qatar Wrld Cup unique is the kind f technlgy China is prviding. Fr example, the Stadium 974, built by Chinese cmpanies, is the first mvable and redeplyable(可重构体系的) “green stadium”. It can recycle rainwater fr future use and turn the garbage cllected frm the stadium int fertilizer(肥料). Besides, China has built an 800 MW phtvltaic statin that cntinually turns the rich sunshine in the Middle East int electricity fr the stadium.
Anther reasn that has made it pssible fr Chinese firms t perfrm well in the Wrld Cup is that China has achieved gd ecnmic grwth despite a glbal ecnmic slwdwn. While the whle wrld suffers because f the COVID-19 pandemic and ther reasns, Chinese cmpanies have largely cntinued t functin nrmally.

Accrding t scientists, being kind t thers can imprve happiness. Acts as simple as buying a cup f cffee fr smene can better a persn’s md (心情), fr example. Every day life affrds many chances fr such actins, yet peple d nt always make use f them.
In a set f studies published nline in the Jurnal f Experimental Psychlgy: General, Nick Epley, a behaviral scientist, and I examined a pssible explanatin. We fund that peple wh perfrm randm (随机的) acts f kindness d nt always realize hw much f an effect they are having n anther persn. Peple usually think little f hw thers value these acts.
Acrss ur investigatins, several results came ut. Fr ne, bth givers and receivers f the acts f kindness were in mre psitive mds than usual after these exchanges. Fr anther, it was clear that givers undervalued (低估) their effect; receivers felt much better than the kind givers expected. The receivers als really recgnized these acts as “bigger” than the peple perfrming them did.
At first, we studied acts f kindness dne fr familiar peple, such as friends, classmates r family. But later we fund that givers undervalued their psitive effect n strangers as well. In ne experiment, givers in a public park gave away ht chclate t strangers n a cld winter’s day. Once again, the experience was mre psitive than the givers expected fr the receivers. While the peple giving the ht chclate saw the act as unimprtant, it really mattered t the receivers.
Our findings suggest that what might seem small t the givers culd matter a great deal t the receivers. Since these warm acts can prmte ur wn md and brighten the day f anther persn, why nt chse kindness when we can?
28.What d givers seldm think abut?

B.Warm Acts Are Necessary Fr Peple

D yu think dgs and cats can live in perfect harmny in the same hme? Peple wh are thinking abut adpting(收养) a dg as a friend fr their cats are wrried that they will fight. A recent research has fund a new recipe f success. Accrding t the study, if the cat is adpted befre the dg, and if they are intrduced when still yung (less than 6 mnths fr cats, a year fr dgs), it is highly prbable that the tw pets will get alng swimmingly. Tw-thirds f the hmes interviewed reprted a psitive relatinship between their cat and dg.
Hwever, it wasn’t all sweetness and light. There was a reprted cldness between the cat and dg in 25% f the hmes, while aggressin(侵略) and fighting were bserved in 10% f the hmes. One reasn fr this is prbably that sme f their bdy signals(信号) were just ppsite. Fr example, when a cat turns its head away it signals aggressin, while a dg ding the same signals submissin.
In hmes with cats and dgs living peacefully, researchers bserved a surprising behavir. They are learning hw t talk each ther’s language. It is a surprise that cats can learn hw t talk ‘Dg’, and dgs can learn hw t talk ‘Cat’.
What’s interesting is that bth cats and dgs have appeared t develp their intelligence. They can learn t read each ther’s bdy signals, suggesting that the tw may have mre in cmmn than was previusly thught. Once familiar with each ther’s presence and bdy language, cats and dgs can play tgether, greet each ther nse t nse, and enjy sleeping tgether n the sfa. They can easily share the same water bwl and in sme cases grm (梳理) each ther.
The significance f this research n cats and dgs may g beynd pets -- t peple wh dn’t get alng, including neighbrs, clleagues at wrk, and even wrld superpwers. If cats and dgs can learn t get alng, surely peple have a gd chance.
