On Sunday, Tigst Assefa f Ethipia shcked the running wrld by breaking the wmen’s wrld recrd fr the marathn by ver tw minutes. Assefa finished the Berlin Marathn in just 2 hurs, 11 minutes, and 53 secnds.
But Assefa’s recrd was far beynd what mst peple expected. After all, it was nly her third time running a marathn.
“I wanted t break the marathn wrld recrd,” she said, “But I culdn’t imagine that it wuld result in a time under 2:12.”
