“Hw beautiful the jasmine(茉莉花)is! A sweet smell cvers the budding twigs. S fragrant, s white, admired by all lips. ” The famed Chinese flk sng Jasmine Flwer has reached a glbal audience with its beautiful meldy and lyrics. Equally ppular is the traditinally made Jasmine tea, whse elegant fragrance and mellw taste fascinate cuntless tea drinkers.
Chen Chengzhng has a big say in the prductin f Jasmine tea as he is a practitiner f Fuzhu Jasmine tea scenting techniques. The 72-year-ld tea maker started his career early in his teenage years, when he became an apprentice in a state-wned tea factry.
Jasmine tea is a kind f tea scented(带有某种香味)with the fragrance f jasmine blssms and typically has green tea as its base. The natural scenting prcess cnsumes fresh jasmine blssms, picked during the daytime when the buds are clsed, Chen said. And the green tea leaves frm the spring harvest are stred until the mst fragrant jasmine blssms in latesummer.
The ht and humid climate and the red sil in East China's Fujian prvince prvide favrable cnditins fr jasmine and tea' plants t thrive, becming the high-quality ingredients that are needed fr Jasmine tea. “Our jasmine flwers and tea leaves are all surced frm Fujian in large quantities, despite the fact that they are pricier than thse frm ther rigins, ” Chen said.
When the fresh jasmine flwers are harvested, they are mixed with layers f tea leaves. Wrkers stir(搅拌) the tea leaves and flwers vernight, allwing the leaves t absrb the fragrant scent f the jasmine blssms.
In the mrning, the flwers are srted, the leaves are dried, and the prcess is repeated. Mre repetitin makes fr a mre rbust jasmine flavr, and it takes at least nine scenting prcesses t prduce Jasmine tea f a superb grade.
Having been appinted as the representative practitiner f Fuzhu Jasmine tea scenting techniques, Chen nw fcuses mre n passing n the scenting techniques, giving lectures t students and apprentices. Chen's sn Chen Zheng is mtivated t fllw in his father's ftsteps and mve frward with the scenting techniques. “Like my father, I als hpe t practice this traditinal skill that has prfund cultural depsits, and pass it n, ” Chen Zheng said.

Rapid defrestatin(毁林) f the Amazn rainfrest culd influence the temperature and precipitatin(降水,降水量)ver the Tibetan plateau 15, 000 kilmeters away.
Saini Yang at Beijing Nrmal University in China and her clleagues analyzed glbal climatlgical data frm 1979 t 2019 t identify relatins in temperature and precipitatin between the Amazn rainfrest and ther areas. Such links are called “telecnnectin1s”. They fcused n the Amazn rainfrest in particular because f its significance as a majr carbn sink and as a climatic “tipping pint”(爆发点)that culd see frest turn t savannah(稀树草 原)beynd a certain threshld(阈,界) f warming and human-driven defrestatin.
The researchers fund that since 1979, warm temperatures in the Amazn rainfrest were related t warm temperatures ver the Tibetan plateau and the West Antarctic ice sheet; mre precipitatin in the Amazn rainfrest was assciated with less precipitatin in thse regins. By analyzing changing temperatures in the regins between the Amazn rainfrest and thse distant areas, they were als able t trace the path thrugh which energy r materials such as black carbn released in frest fires might spread thrugh the atmsphere. Their analysis shwed the rute remained cnsistent under different future warming scenaris.
The cllapse f the West Antarctic ice sheet is a knwn tipping pint. Melting snw n the Tibetan plateau is nt, but the regin is warming mre rapidly than much f the rest f the glbe, and changes t snw and ice there culd have cnsequences fr ecsystems and the billins f peple that rely n its snwmelt fr water, says Yang.
Victr Brvkin at the Max Planck Institute fr Meterlgy in Germany says the telecnnectins are an interesting find, but is skeptical that variability in the Amazn rainfrest causes the changes elsewhere. He says the Amazn rainfrest is t small an area t vercme the influence f the trpical ceans and the researchers dn't present a physical mechanism t explain any influence.
If the Amazn rainfrest des have an influence n these regins, hwever, it culd mean there is à higher risk that the Amazn rainfrest tipping pint might set thers ff, says Jnathan Dnges-at the Ptsdam Institute fr Climate Impact Research in Germany. “It adds an additinal ptential dmin(多米诺骨牌)that can fall. ”
28. Why was the Amazn rainfrest the fcus fr Saini Yang's research?
A. Because it played a rle as a main carbn sink.
B. Because it was the mst imprtant carbn sink.
C. Because it was very likely t turn t savannah.
D. Because it was at a high risk f becming a climatic “tipping pint”.
29. What des paragraph 3 mainly talk abut?
A. The benefits f the research.
B. The findings f the research.
C. The means f analyzing the data.
D. The results f the Amazn rainfrest being defrested.

A. The temperature f the Tibetan plateau changes the fastest.
B. The variability in the Amazn rainfrest may nt lead t changes elsewhere.
C. The mre the Amazn rainfrest rains, the less rainfall the Tibetan plateau may have.
D. The cnsequences f the cllapse f the West Antarctic ice sheet are little-knwn.
31. What can we learn abut the Amazn rainfrest frm the last tw paragraphs?
A. Telecnnectins have kept the researchers interested fr a lng time.
B. The Amazn rainfrest tipping pint is likely t set ff thse f ther areas.
C. The findings f the research n the Amazn rainfrest are cntrversial.
D. The Amazn rainfrest is large enugh t remve the influence f the trpical ceans.

Until the 1940s,bld transfusins(输血)ften went wrng because sme main bld- grup systems had yet t be discvered. This phenmenn is nw a thing f the past, but finding a well-matched dnr can still be difficult, especially fr patients with rare bld types. Recently, a team f British researchers annunced a step twards slving this prblem by successfully transfusing int tw healthy vlunteers red bld cells grwn frm apprpriate stem cells dnated by thers.
By nw, such manufactured red cells have been given nly t thse whse wn stem cells had been the surce. The stem cells used fr this experiment, hwever, were extracted frm bld dnated in the nrmal way. Then, the harvested stem cells were grwn and multiplied in a nutrient slutin fr abut 20 days, which served t turn them int yung versins f red bld cells called reticulcytes, which, nce transfused, quickly develp int the real McCy. The lab-made red bld cells wuld be expected t last lnger in a receiver's bdy than thse frm a nrmal transfusin, since transfused bld unavidably cntains sme cells that are n their last legs. The next step is t measure hw lng the manufactured cells actually d last.
If they d indeed survive traditinally transfused cells, then receivers will nt need frequent transfusins. That will help a lt. At the mment, patients with bld disrders such as sickle-cell disease and thalassemia may require a transfusin as ften as every fur t six weeks. . As a cnsequence, sme develp irn verlad, which causes severe cmplicatins(并 发症). Others end up frming antibdies against many bld types, which makes finding a matching dnr harder.
If all ges well, the trial will be extended t mre vlunteers. But larger tests, including tests n actual patients, will be needed befre this apprach can be put int practice. Even then, the technique will prbably be reserved fr a favred few-thse pssessing rare bld types being at the head f the queue. Unless sme unfreseen breakthrugh ccurs, making the cells in quantity will be challenging.
32. What des the underlined part “the real McCy” in paragraph 2 refer t?
A. Red bld cells.
B. Stem cells.
C. Reticulcytes.
D. Nutrient slutins.
33. What can we learn abut bld transfusins accrding t the text?
A. The lab-made red bld cells last lnger than thse frm a nrmal transfusin.
B. Thse with rare bld types may enjy pririty in the transfusin f lab-made red bldcells.
C. Mst patients with bld disrders may suffer severe cmplicatins and frmantibdies.
D. Bld transfusins ften g wrng because f peple's ignrance f the main bldsystems.
34. What's the authr's attitude t the mass prductin f the lab-made red cells in the nearfuture?
A. Indifferent.
B. Optimistic.
C. Hpeless.
D. Cautius.
35. Which f the fllwing can be the best title fr the text?
A. Develpment f technlgy in bld transfusins
B. Transfusin f lab-made red bld cells int humans

23. C。 根据第一段中的“We have selected three grgeus film lcatins in China. If yu're a film fan r an utdr enthusiast, check them ut!”

从第四段第一句“The ht and humid climate and the red sil in East China's Fujian prvince prvide favrable cnditins fr jasmine and tea plants t thrive, becming the high-quality ingredients that are needed fr Jasmine tea.
从第三段最后一句“And the green tea leaves frm the spring harvest are stred until the mst fragrant jasmine blssms in late summer. 从第六段中的“it takes at least nine scenting prcesses t prduce Jasmine tea f a superb grade”可看出B项错误。从第三段中的“The natural scenting prcess cnsumes fresh jasmine blssms, picked during the daytime when the buds are clsed,Chen said.
从文章最后一段最后一句“"Like my father, I als hpe t practice this traditinal skill that has prfundcultural depsits, and pass it n,'Chen Zheng said.
28.A。 根据第二段第三句中的“They fcused n the Amazn rainfrest in particular because f its significance as a majr carbn sink”可知,正确答案为A。
29.B。 根据第三段第一句的主干“The researchers fund that...”
根据第三段中的“mre precipitatin in the Amazn rainfrest was assciated with less precipitatin in thse regins”可知,正确答案为C。
31.C。 根据最后一段中的“If the Amazn rainfrest des have an influence n these regins, hwever,it culd mean there is a higher risk that the Amazn rainfrest tipping pint might set thers ff”可知,亚马孙雨林发生质的颠覆性变化有一个前提条件,那就是它确实对这些地区有影响,而对于这一点,科学家仍然有争议;根据倒数第二段Victr Brvkin的观点可知,正确答案为C。
D
32.A。 根据第二段可知,stem cells(干细胞)被放在nutrient slutins(营养液)中进行培育,被培养成 reticulcytes(网织红细胞),被输注后快速转化成red bld cells(血红细胞),故选A。the real McCy在字典中释义如下:(infrmal) smething that is genuine and that has value,nt a cpy 真货;真品。If yu describe smene r smething as the real McCy, yu mean that they really are what they claim t be and are nt a imitatin(仿制品,赝品).

43.A。 take up开始从事,bring in引进;赚钱,give away 捐赠;泄露,fall n(责任或工作)落在(某人身上)。
53. A。 in a rw 连续地,as a whle 作为一个整体,by accident偶然,by all means务必,一定。

56. are included。
57. linking。
58. between。
59. have preserved/have been preserving。 根据Over the years可知用现在完成时。
60. that/which。
61. being treated。
62. an。
63. as/because/since/fr。
64. additin。
65. harmnius。
