In this age f Internet chat, videgames and reality televisin, there is n shrtage f mindless activities t keep a child ccupied. Yet, despite the cmpetitin, my 8-year-ld daughter Rebecca wants t spend her leisure time writing shrt stries. She wants t enter ne f her stries int a writing cntest; a cmpetitin she wn last year.

S many f ur wn past scars and dashed hpes can surface.
An enlightenment came last week when I asked her, “Dn’t yu want t win again?” “N,” she replied, “I just want t tell the stry f an angel ging t first grade.”
I had just spent weeks crrecting her stries as she spntaneusly tld them. Telling myself that I was merely an experienced writer guiding the yung writer acrss the hall, I ffered suggestins fr characters, cnflicts and endings fr her tales. The stry abut a fearful angel starting first grade was quickly “guided” by me int the tale f a little girl with a wild imaginatin taking her first music lessn. I had turned her cntest int mine withut even realizing it.
Staying back and giving kids space t grw is nt as easy as it lks. Because I knw very little abut farm animals wh use tls r angels wh g t first grade, I had t accept the fact that I was c-pting (借用) my daughter’s experience.
While stepping back was difficult fr me, it was certainly a gd first step that I will quickly fllw with mre steps, putting myself far enugh away t give her rm but clse enugh t help if asked. All the while I will be reminding myself that children need rm t experiment, grw and find their wn vices.

The bk is a rich multilayered narrative that wrks n three different levels. The first is the stry f each f the three hikers. Lankfrd ffers a bigraphy (传记) f each f the missing men and shws them thrugh the eyes f thse wh knew them well and thse wh jined the search.
Right underneath the narratives abut the three hikers are the stries f everyne lking fr them. Lankfrd played a rle in each search but she allwed friends, family and even strangers t ccupy center stage thrughut mst f the narrative. The stry lks at the rle f missing persn Facebk grups in the searches and hw crucial wrd f muth can be. Many warm-hearted individuals came frth and became instrumental in the searches r prvided valuable infrmatin. But Lankfrd als writes f the many wh lied fr n apparent reasn and cnfused the investigatins.
The narrative als shines a light n diverse aspects f the PCT. Lankfrd, wh has hiked the entire Appalachian Trail and was the first persn t muntain bike the 800-mile Arizna Trail, knws just hw the PCT is physically and mentally demanding. Besides, the bk explres threats frm muntain lins t peple with bad intentins wh dn’t bserve the PCT’s unspken mral rules, serving as a revelatin f the well-knwn, hidden r ignred dangers f the PCT.

The idea that we need t eat meat t get enugh prtein and irn is a cmmn miscnceptin. It ignres the abundance f prtein and irn in many plant-based fds. Likewise, while we typically assciate mega-3 fatty acids with fish, fish themselves absrb these int their tissue by eating seaweed, which we can cnsume directly withut the cncerns f expsure t micrplastics in fish flesh.
Indeed, a whle-fd, plant-based diet can prvide all essential nutrients except fr vitamin B12. While mdern sanitatin (卫生) allws humans t cnsume clean prduce unplluted by dirt, we can easily and cheaply btain ral B12 supplements (补充).
Obviusly, significantly reducing ur cnsumptin f meat wuld carry vast benefits. Cardivascular disease remains the leading cause f death arund the wrld. Eating highly prcessed fds and red meat has been repeatedly demnstrated t prmte underlying mechanisms f cancer and cardivascular disease, such as inflammatin(炎症)and damage t the lining f bld vessels (血管).
Munting evidence pints t the benefits f a whle-fd, plant-based diet. Studies frm 2017fund that a vegetarian diet is assciated with a 25 percent relative risk reductin fr crnary heart disease and an 8 percent relative risk reductin fr cancer, with a vegan diet related t a 15 percent relative risk reductin fr cancer.
Besides harming urselves, eating meat harms thers. Factry farming practices ften entail unspeakable cruelty t animals, and wrking cnditins fr wrkers are als unsafe. Overcrwding f livestck and wrkers prmtes the spread f disease amng bth peple and animals, putting us all at risk fr future pandemics. The veruse f antibitics (抗生素) t accelerate animal grwth and precautiusly treat the infectins anticipated as a result f living in unclean and vercrwded cnditins can prmte antibitic resistance.
While natinal and internatinal actin is undubtedly needed t fight immral factry farming practices, educatrs and plicy makers shuld cnsider the imprtance f acting as rle mdels fr healthy behavirs themselves as well as advcating fr plicies that ensure better nutritinal access and educatin fr thers. All f these shuld nt be excuses fr individuals t resist changes in their wn lives and cmmunities. Scieties change nly when enugh individuals within them alter their behavir.
12.The authr writes the first tw paragraphs mainly t ______.

根据第六段“The narrative als shines a light n diverse aspects f the PCT. Lankfrd, wh has hiked the entire Appalachian Trail and was the first persn t muntain bike the 800-mile Arizna Trail, knws just hw the PCT is physically and mentally demanding. The first is the stry f each f the three hikers.”(这是一部引人入胜的非虚构故事,讲述了三位徒步旅行者的生活,包括他们的生活以及寻找他们的人的生活。)
12.答案:A
根据第一段中“The idea that we need t eat meat t get enugh prtein and irn is a cmmn miscnceptin. It ignres the abundance f prtein and irn in many plant-based fds.(认为我们需要吃肉才能获得足够的蛋白质和铁是一种常见的误解。它忽略了许多植物性食物中丰富的蛋白质和铁)”和第二段中“Indeed, a whle-fd, plant-based diet can prvide all essential nutrients except fr vitamin B12. While mdern sanitatin (卫生) allws humans t cnsume clean prduce unplluted by dirt, we can easily and cheaply btain ral B12 supplements (补充).(事实上,全食物、植物性饮食可以提供除维生素B12外的所有必需营养素。

15.答案:A
通读全文,尤其根据第一段中“The idea that we need t eat meat t get enugh prtein and irn is a cmmn miscnceptin.
故填Since。
故填which。
