    Alice, a yung girl wh was in her huse when the earthquake struck, knew she had t act fast. She gt her emergency kit, which included fd, water, and a first—aid kit, and ran ut f the huse.
    The streets were messy. Traffic lights were ut, cars were verturned, and peple were running in fear. Alice knew she had t get t higher grund. She headed fr the nearest hill, jining a grup f ther peple. As they reached the tp, the full frce f the earthquake hit, but Alice and the thers managed t stay n tp f the hill.
    After what seemed like a century, the earthquake finally stpped. Alice lked dwn at the twn she had called hme. It was in ruins. Huses were destryed, rads were cracked pen, and a large crack had frmed in the middle f the twn square.
    Alice knew she had t help. She jined hands with ther survivrs and they began the rescue effrt. With simple tls and their bare hands, they dug thrugh the stnes and bricks t find anyne wh might be trapped inside.
