A new study warns that mre than a fifth f all reptile (爬行动物) species are threatened with extinctin, which may have a bad impact n the planet.
The largest ever analysis f the state f the wrld’s reptiles, published in Nature, has shwed that 21% f the reptile species are facing extinctin. The study says frm lizards t snakes, such a lss culd have disastrus impacts n ecsystems arund the wrld.
Althugh many reptiles live in dry envirnments such as deserts, mst species ccur in frests, where they suffer frm threats such as lgging f land fr agriculture. 30% f the frest-dwelling reptiles are at risk f extinctin, cmpared with 14% in dry habitats. Hunting is als a majr threat t reptiles, especially turtles and crcdiles, many f which are at risk f extinctin. Anther majr cntributing factr is the intrductin f invasive species.
“If we remved reptiles, it culd change ecsystems fundamentally, with unfrtunate knck-n effects, such as increases in pest insects,” said Neil Cx, c-leader f the study. “Bidiversity, including reptiles, supprts the ecsystem services that prvide a healthy envirnment fr peple.”
Our hpe is that this first-ever assessment f the wrld’s 10,000-plus reptiles helps put them in the sptlight and ges sme way t highlighting this diversity, and just hw much we have t lse. By 2022, LLMs were being trained n as many as 17 trillin wrds f human-generated text, mainly frm the Internet. It was certain that the new chatbt was expsed t functinal fixedness (功能固着) prblems in its training. The researchers were f curse aware f that and invented the “eggs and laptp” puzzle t prevent the new chatbt frm dishnestly cpying an answer frm the Internet. LLMs used language statistics nly. “I’m nt sure,” I answered, lking up at the sky. The cluds were dark gray and thick, which just made me mre upset. Hwever, Jack didn’t seem t excited abut the ckies this time. He was arranging his flwers attentively.
“Yu’d better cme in! I can feel a few raindrps n my head,” Mm shuted. Jack quickly ran twards her, carrying many flwers. Sme even slipped ut f his hands, creating a clrful trail behind him.
“I brught yu sme rses, Mm!” Jack said, shving (猛推) the flwers int her hands. I fund he left sme flwers in his hand. Wh was he ging t give them t? Mm then lked back at me. “Wuld yu rather be utside in the rain?” she questined. I shk my head. “It’s just a bx f ckies. I can get it next Saturday,” I thught. Hwever, I knew it was mre abut the ckies — it was a lt f lve frm Grandma.
Mm gave me a small smile and repeated, “I knew yu wuldn’t want t get wet. Cme in, baby.” I was abut t step inside when a familiar vice came, “Jenny, I’m cming!” I turned back and saw Grandma shuffling (拖着脚走) twards me.
