现在进行时表示正在进行的动作或存在的状态，或者表示现阶段正在进行或从事的动作。
二、构成
肯定句：主语+be( am , is，are )+动词现在分词+其他。
否定句式:主语+be ( am , is，are ) +nt +现在分词+其它。
一般疑问句:Be(am,is，are)+主语+现在分词+其它?
特殊疑问句:疑问词+be ( am , is , are ) +主语+现在分词+其它?
现在分词即动词的ing形式，变化规则如下：
1.一般情况下，动词加+ing，如wash--washing,read--reading。
2.以不发音字母e结尾的动词，去掉e，再加+ing，如make--making，use--using。
3.以重读闭音节结尾的动词且末尾只有一个辅音字母（字母w、y、x除外），双写最后的辅音字母，再加+ing，如run--running，swim--swimming。
4.以-ie结尾的动词，变ie为y，再加+ing，如die--dying，tie--tying。
5.以-c结尾的动词，变c为ck，再加+ing，如picnic--picnicking，magic--magicking，traffic--trafficking（例外：arc作弧形运动，arcing）
6.以-l结尾的动词，如果动词原形以非重读音节结尾，则末尾的字母l双写与不双写均可。其中不双写的是美式拼写，如travel--travelling/traveling(U.S.)。
7.部分以-p结尾的动词同样遵循第6条，这类词多由“前缀+名词”构成。如果动词原形以非重读音节结尾，则末尾的字母p双写与不双写均可。
三、现在进行时的应用
1、当句中出现的表示时间的词是nw，at the mment（此刻、现在）等时，表示句子要说明的是现在正在发生的事，动词应用现在进行时。
例如：Linda's brther is watching TV in his bedrm nw.
现在，琳达的哥哥正在他的卧室里看电视。
例如：We're far frm hme. What are ur parents ding at the mment?
现在，我们远离家了，我们的父母此刻在干什么呢？
2、当句中出现的时间状语是these days，this week，this mnth,this term 等时，如果句子所要表达的意义是在这一阶段正在发生的事，则动词应用现在进行时。
例如：These days we are helping the farmers wrk n the farm.
这些天我们在农场帮农民们干活。
例如：They're having a test this week.
这一周，他们在进行一次考试。
例如：Mr Cheng is visiting ur village this mnth.
这个月，程先生在我们村访问。
3、在句中出现了Lk，Listen，Can't yu see? 等暗示词时，说明后面谓语动词的动作正在发生，该动词应用现在进行时。
例如：Lk! Maria and Tm are dancing under the tree.
看！玛丽亚和汤姆正在树下跳舞。
例如：Listen! Our English teacher is singing the ppular English sng.
听！我们英语老师正在唱那首流行的英文歌曲。
例如：Many children are swimming in the river. Can't yu see?
许多小孩在河里游泳，你难道看不见吗？
4、注意根据上下文的暗示，句子的谓语动词可能应用现在进行时。
例如：— Where is Mr Wang?
—王先生在哪儿？
例如：— Oh, he is reading a newspaper in the ffice.
— 噢，他正在办公室看报。
（问句询问王先生在哪儿，应说明他现在在哪儿，故答句应说明他现在正在做的事，用现在进行时。）
例如：—Is that by Jack?
—那个男孩是杰克吗？
例如：— N,Jack is ding his hmewrk in the classrm.
—不是，杰克正在教室做作业呢。
（答句中说明的杰克做作业的情况应发生在现在，应用现在进行时。）
5、现在进行时态表将来，主要用于表示按计划或安排要发生的动作。常有“意图”“决定”的意思
例如：They’re getting married next mnth. 他们下个月结婚。
6、表示特定的感情色彩
1）现在进行时与always、cnstantly、cntinually、perpetually、usually、frever等副词连用，往往表达说话者出乎意料的生气、赞扬、同情、不满、好奇等感情，或对某一心理的生动描述。
例句1：She's always wrking. 她总在工作。（赞赏）
例句2：I'm always lsing keys. 我总丢钥匙。（生气）
2）有一些句子中用一般现在时只说明事实，用现在进行时则表示某种情绪。
Hw d yu feel tday ? （用一般现在时表单纯询问）
Hw are yu feeling tday? (用现在进行时表关切)
She des fine wrk at schl.用一般现在时表单纯陈述）
She's ding fine wrk at schl.(用现在进行时表赞美)
7、描述图片中的人物的动作，也为了表达更生动。此时也常用现在进行时。
如: Lk at the picture. The children are flying kites in the park.看这幅图, 那些孩子正在公园放风筝。
