My wrld changed when I gt int sprts. I started playing ftball. Everything came tgether when I made my first tackle (抢断球) at age 11. It was my first real achievement.
Everyne I played against was able-bdied. At first, I struggled. But I threw everything I had int learning t be the best player. I turned my lack f height int a weapn.
Then I decided t start wrestling (摔跤). I lst 35 games, but then I had a breakthrugh. I had an amazing cach wh helped me invent mves that tk advantage f my strength. My different bdy type was a psychlgical advantage-ppnents (对手) didn’t knw hw t handle it. I eventually finished 12th in the103-pund weight class in the champinships.

There is an ld saying in Chinese: “T d a gd jb ne must first sharpen ne’s tls.” When it cmes t phtgraphy, hwever, it’s nt exactly the case. In this year’s Natinal Gegraphic Travel Pht Cntest, Greenlandic Winter, a picture by Chinese phtgrapher Chu Weimin, tk first place in the cities categry and wn the verall grand prize as well.
When asked why he chse Upernavik, a small fishing village in Greenland, t take his pictures, Chu described the first time he sptted the village frm an airplane. “Thrugh my entire flight, I culd nly see the land, cvered by pure white ice and snw. But I suddenly saw a big, warm dt in the far distance — Upernavik,” he tld Natinal Gegraphic. “The beauty f this tranquil (宁静的) village was beynd my imaginatin. It was a ‘ww’ mment fr me.” This ability t discver a “ww mment” is what makes a gd travel phtgrapher.
Accrding t Chu, he was mved by Upernavik’s blue tint at dusk, the warm yellw light frm the windws, and the family f three walking alng the snwy street. Althugh he is a prfessinal phtgrapher, many f Chu’s Greenland pictures were sht with his phne.
This attitude is similar t the ne held by Austrian-American phtgrapher Ernest Haas (1921-1986). Haas tld his students that they were s fcused n cameras that they culdn’t understand the true meaning f phtgraphy. “The camera desn’t make a bit f difference,” Haas said. “All f them can recrd what yu are seeing. But yu have t SEE.”
Perhaps it’s nt just in phtgraphy that we’ve put t much emphasis n the rle f tls. Hw many f yu are reluctant t start a new sprt r learn new sftware simply because yu dn’t yet have the “right” utfit (装备) r cmputer?
It’s true that “sharpened” tls make the wrk easier, hut as reprter Abhilash Pavuluri wrte n Firstpst: “In the end, it’s really the artist that makes a gd painting, nt the paintbrush.”

Since these new panels are mre energy efficient, they culd save nt nly mney but als land. That wuld require changing hw slar cntracts wrk tday.
