二、阅读理解。

It is quite strange that when you walk into a store, you see no shop assistants(助手) inside. You pick up things and get ready to wait in line and pay. But it’s also odd that there’s no shopkeeper waiting for you to check out(结账). So what has happened to the store?

Well, you may have come into Tao Cafe, a cashless(无现金的) store designed by Alibaba. The store sells drinks, fast food and snacks. 50 shoppers can go shopping in the store at a time. To get in and shop, people only need a smartphone with a Taobao app and an Alipay account(账户).

By scanning(扫描) the Taobao QR code(二维码), shoppers can get into the store. The store has also got the information of all things and their places on the shelves. So when shoppers pick up the things they want, the store itself will “watch” and “remember” their choice. When shoppers are ready to leave, they don’t wait in line to pay. Instead, they go through two checkout doors. Then the bill(账单) will soon be paid with a Taobao account through Alipay.

According to Alibaba, the checkout machines can recognize(识别) things of the store even when shoppers put them in pockets or bags. So it is almost impossible(不可能的) to take things away from the store without paying.

三、任务型阅读。

My name is Nick. About three years ago, I felt very lonely. I didn’t like my classmates, my parents or anyone else. My classmates didn’t want to talk with me and my parents were always saying that other kids were better than me. I thought I was the unluckiest person in the world.
      One day I had a big fight with one of my classmates. I was so angry that I hit him in the face. Just at that moment , Bill stood up and stopped the fight. He was the monitor of our class.
      After that, Bill often helped me and we became good  friends. Whenever I got angry or sad, he would help me to calm down or cheer me up. My life began to change because of the boy, my best friend. I became happier than before. And it seemed that people around me changed, too. My parents didn’t shout at me any more and my classmates became friendly to me.
   But now I can’t see my best friend often because he is seriously ill and is staying in hospital. How I miss the days when we were together! I hope he will get well and come back to school soon.
