School Life指在校学习的课程、学校、班级或学生会等举行的各项比赛或课外活动，包括体育比赛，演讲比赛、音乐会、电影展、书展、聚会、野餐、烧烤、春游、劳动、自愿者服务等课外或校外活动。可以针对学校生活、环境、师生、学习科目、课外活动介绍在说明文中考查，也可以针对课外、校外活动、学习习惯、饮食习惯等以调查报告形式考查，还可以通过邀请信、通知、日记、周记、媒体报道或投稿等形式考查。
活动类型可以分为以下三类：
1.文娱类活动（文化、艺术类），如：邀请或通知好友或同学参加音乐节、艺术节、电影展、画展、书法展览、书展、京剧脸谱展、戏曲观赏、汉服创意大赛、剪纸和皮影展活动、演讲比赛等，或是对这些活动的日记或媒体报道写作进行考查，如：带领外国学生体验中国茶文化活动等。
2.劳动和环保活动类，如：日常家务劳动、自愿者活动、校内外劳动等，如：节约用水宣传活动、环保活动、植树活动等等；
3.体育类活动，如：通知或邀请好友或同学参加某个运动会、某种体育项目的比赛（球类比赛、田赛和径赛等）或是对这些活动的日记或媒体报道写作进行考查。
命题方向
命题者可能会要求考生就某项比赛或课外、校外活动等写一份通知，或就具体的体育比赛，演讲比赛、音乐会、电影展、书展、聚会、野餐、烧烤、春游、劳动、自愿者服务等课外活动写一份通知或写活动后的日记或周记或是媒体报道。要求考生介绍自己的学校环境、学校生活作息时间、感受等；就学生的穿着、发型、行为举止等发表看法；就预习、复习、讨论、归纳等课堂学习活动和教师教学方法等发表看法；就学生对任课教师开展评教活动发表看法；学校在节假日该不该补课；学生该不该参加校外各种形式的特长训练，如钢琴培训、外语培训、勤工俭学等。II Useful words and expressions

第一部分 写法指导
I图表类作文的分类及写法
图表包括表示数量大小或数量之间差异的条形或柱状图(bar chart)，显示数据变化的曲线图(graph)，以圆内扇形的大小表示各部分所占比例的饼形图(pie chart)。图表作文实际上是要求考生将图表中的数据和图形转换成文字，并就图表中所反映的情况做出分析或发表议论。如：遇到困难向老师还是向家长求助；报志愿先选学校还是先选专业；使用新课本情况调查；高二是否要文理分科等等，均出现在大型的模拟考试中。所以，如果命题人要出图表作文的话，也还会遵循这一原则，可能会围绕以下话题来命题：学校课程设置、学习方法、学生业余爱好、课外活动、课外学习英语的方式、打暑期工、出国留学、中学生上网、网上购物、人们出行方式、小车拥有量的变化、“限塑令”后人们使用购物袋和塑料袋的情况或其它环保举措、建国60年百姓衣食住行的变迁等。

II写作思路
(1)开门见山，点明主题。点明图表所反映的主题或问卷、民意调查的结果；或点明你要展开阐述的话题。

Nowadays, with the growing popularity of smartphones and computers, an increasing number of students are choosing to learn English beyond the classroom in various ways.

It can easily be seen that the percentage of students who choose listening to English songs and watching English movies is respectively 65% and 50%. However, those choosing reading English books and visiting English learning websites only account for 18% and 12%.

As far as I’m concerned, it is a disturbing trend. For students, what benefits most to their study is reading English books. Recently a survey has been done to find out what after-class activities do the senior high school students often take part in, results are as follows.

I’m Yao Ping, one of the students from Zhonghua Middle School. Recently I participated in a research project called “Whether parents are proud of their children”. By researching the students and their parents, we have found the result is unexpectedly different.
The result indicates that 80 percent of the parents take pride in their children while merely 60 percent of the students think that their parents are proud of them. The result sounds somewhat strange.
Then, what leads to the result? I think there are two main reasons. On the one hand, even though many Chinese parents are very proud of what their children have done, they seldom praise their children in the face, which makes kids feel very disappointed and have little confidence in themselves. On the other hand, some students are very strict with themselves. They believe they always bring trouble to their parents so that their parents are not proud of them. Obviously, there exists huge lack of communication between parents and children, which contributes to the big difference between them.
In my view, parents and their children should communicate more with each other. Only in this way can they have no misunderstanding between each other and build a harmonious family.

Ⅲ 通知的写法指导
一、通知的形式
通知从形式上可分为书面通知(written notice)和口头通知（announcement）。书面通知强调语句简练，用词贴切，用语书面化；而口头通知比较灵活简练，用词较为口语化。
二、通知的结构
通知一般由标题、正文和结尾三部分组成。标题部分包括常用标题语和发出通知的单位名称；正文包括事件、通知对象、要求、时间（有时还包括具体的时间和地点）、注意事项等等；结尾部分主要包括发通知的具体日期。英文通知的格式一般是将NOTICE(每个字母都大写)，写在通知正文上面一行的正中间。发出通知的单位名称可以写在NOTICE上面，也可以写在通知正文的右下角；发通知的日期一般写在通知正文的左下角，也可按书信格式写在正文的右上角。不过，这两项有时可以省略。口头通知不说这两项。
Ø 书面通知的英语作文格式要求
1.通知的标志：标准一般要醒目，多用Notice作标题。
2. 出通知的单位和时间：时间一般分别位于正文的左下角和右上角，单位写在正文的右下角，不过这两项有时可以省略。
3.通知的正文：要写明所做事情的具体时间、地点、概括性内容、出席对象及有关注意事项。
4.通知的对象：一般用第三人称，但如果带有称呼语，则用第二人称来表示（祈使句中可以省略主语）。
5.通知的文体：注意用词贴切，语句简洁。

三、通知的书写用语
1.发出通知的单位和对象在一般情况下用第三人称，如要求同学们按时到会，不说“We must ... ”或“You should...”,而应写成：All the students are requested to be there on time.
2.在语言上，口头通知的句型应该做到口语化，多用简单句和祈使句，语言上尽可能用精炼的文字表达明确的信息。通知中提及的事情都是计划要做的，时态多用将来时，语态多用被动语态。
在句式上，常以“Boys and girls/ Attention, please./I’ve got something important to say./I am very glad to tell you that...”/Please be quiet, everyone !I have something to say./ I have some good news for you!/ The sports meeting will be held...
3.书面通知常以不高形式张贴或写在布告牌、黑板上。一开头需要交代说明何事（what）何地（where）、何时(when)、何人（who）,有时可以交代会议或活动的举办目的。语言做到四多一少。四多：被动语态多，将来时态多，简单句多、祈使句多。一少：修饰性词语少。

四、通知的内容
通知的内容涉及范围较广，对于高中同学而言，一般集中在与学校学习和生活密切相关的话题，如：英语演讲比赛、运动会、参加体育活动周比赛、音乐周活动、观看英语短片的活动、好书推荐活动、英语晚会活动和科技周活动等等。主体时态采用一般将来时态，内容包括：
首段
1. 开展活动的目的；
2. 活动的组织者、参与人员、活动（或会议）举行的时间、地点；
第二段
3.活动的具体内容（活动的主题、举行的具体开始和结束的时间、活动相关要求、比赛或活动参与规则、前期准备工作和携带的用具、参与报名活动的时间和方式等）；
尾段
4.呼吁积极参与活动及期待。

第一部分 写法指导
I记事类记叙文的分类及写法
活动类型可以分为以下三类：1.文娱类活动，如：邀请或通知好友或同学参加音乐节、艺术节、电影展、画展、书法展览、京剧脸谱展、戏曲观赏、汉服创意大赛、剪纸和皮影展活动、演讲比赛等，或是对这些活动的日记或媒体报道写作进行考查，如：带领外国学生体验中国茶文化活动等。2.劳动和环保活动，如：日常家务劳动、自愿者活动、校内外劳动等，如：节约用水宣传活动、环保活动、植树活动等等；3.体育类活动，如：通知或邀请好友或同学参加某个运动会、某种体育项目的比赛（球类比赛、田赛和径赛等）或是对这些活动的日记或媒体报道写作进行考查。
记事类记叙文就是叙述已经经历过的事情，包括故事、通讯报道、日记和周记等，以一般过去时态为主，按事情发生的时间先后来叙述。
记叙文题目一般分为提纲类和图画类两种形式。图画类作文一般是要求考生根据图画叙述一个故事，描写一段经历，报道一个事件，写一篇日记或周记。因此，有可能要求考生根据图画：1.叙述一个成语故事、历史故事、身边同学的故事；2.描述种树的经历、做义工或其他某种有意义的活动的经历；3.报道一次球赛，报道救人、救火、抓小偷之类的好人好事等；写一篇郊游日记，这类作文一般属记叙文。
该类作文的解题思路为：
1. 认真审题。首先要看题目的汉语要求或提示，通常包括审文体、审时态审人称和定写作要点。
2. 看懂图意。理解和分析画面提供的全部信息，将每幅图的内容有机地串联起来，使之成为内容连贯完整的故事或事件。注意：文字说明和参考词汇对我们理解图画的意思非常有用。若是漫画，一般是针砭时弊和娱乐大众的，要弄清作者的看法，看他是讽刺什么人和什么事的，然后再加以评论。
3. 组织要点。在看懂图画的基础上，在草稿纸上逐条列出要点，以免遗漏。若是几幅图，要列出各图的大意，然后将所列要点用完整地道的英语句子表达出来。
4. 连句成篇。首先，在理清句子之间的关系后选用恰当的关联词语，把句子连接成文。其次，要结合生活经验，适当发挥想象，增加合理细节，使文段衔接自然，行文流畅。文末应尽量加上适当的结束语，以使文章结构完整。

II Useful expressions

I写法指导
日记书写的注意事项
(1)日期、星期一般顶格写在正文之前。可以先写星期，后写年月日，也可以先写年月日，后写星期几。
(2)天气情况应写在日期和星期的同一行稍靠右之处。表示天气情况常用fine, cloudy, rainy, snowy, windy, stormy, sunny等形容词来表示。
(3)正文的内容应该思想健康，积极向上。文章可长可短，开头语应简洁，结尾可适当发表感想。
（4）日记或周记的题材广泛，一般来说要求记录一次意义非凡的事件，例如：宣传节约用水活动、帮助父母做家务、现场或在电视上观看一场比赛、毕业前夕制作毕业纪念视频的过程、一次有意义的旅行、一次有意义的志愿者活动或助人为乐的事件等等。
(5)日记和周记的写作思路：
第一部分，交代事件及发生的时间和场所；
第二部分，描写事件的经过及具体细节；
第三部分，自己的感受及感想。

（新闻）媒体报道涉及的范围比较广，话题也比较多，一般指一个大事件或突发事件。其话题包括business, celebrity（名人）,economy, fashion, politics, sports, international affairs（国际大事件）,school life, culture, science，anecdote（趣闻轶事）等。
而对于高中学生涉及的媒体报道写作一般包括两类。第一类，对学校开展的一次重大活动进行报道，并且多为娱乐、文体活动，如：学校校内或校际比赛、交流活动和校际学校访问活动等；校外拓展活动（郊游或志愿者活动）；学校或班级举行的庆祝活动（教师节）等。
第二类，对一次特大自然灾害进行媒体报道，如：水灾、火灾、旱灾、地震等等。
（新闻）媒体报道是对新近发生的事件的报道，因此应注意以下事项：
1. 内容安排：每则新闻在结构上一般包括：标题、导语、主体、背景和结语五部分。因此，学校活动报道的内容应包括：标题（书信例外）、活动的目的、涉及的人员（参与人员和组织人员）、活动开展的时间和地点、活动开展过程及结果、报道者的评价或感受。自然灾害报道的内容包括：标题、灾害发生的时间、地点、起因、经过（灾情及拯救过程的描述）和结果（灾害造成的重大损失和灾后安排等）以及结语。主体时态为一般过去时态。

set fire to sth. / set sth. on fire：(指人为的)放火，纵火
