知识点01 old 年龄的,……岁的,多大,几岁
(1)old作为形容词,意为“……年龄的,……岁的”。提问年龄用how old,意为“多大”。 其结构为“How old+be动词+主语?”,be动词的形式由其后主语决定。
---How old are you?你多大了?
回答此问句时可以用“主语+be动词+基数词+year(s) old”,也可以直接回答数字表示年龄。
---I’m 13 (years old).我13岁了。
或者---Thirteen. 13岁。
(2)old作为形容词,意为“旧的”,其反义词是new,意为“新的”。
My bag is old.我的书包旧了。
(3)old作为形容词,意为“老的”,其反义词是young,意为“年轻的”。
The old man is my grandfather.那位老人是我的爷爷。

【拓展】询问年龄
可以用What’s your age?用于对年龄的提问。其答语用“主语+be+数词[+year(s) old]”。
要注意在一些西方国家,年龄属于个人隐私,问别人年龄是不礼貌的,尤其是问女性。如:
---- How old are you? 你多大了?
---- It’s a secret. 这是个秘密。
知识点02 How many...are there? 有多少……?
how many意为“多少”,后加可数名词复数,是询问人或物体数量的一个固定句型,
(1)基本结构是“How many+可数名词复数+are there(+地点状语)?”。
如:---How many apples are there in your bag?你包里有多少个苹果?
---There are three.有3个。
How many desks are there in your classroom? 你们教室里有多少张课桌?
(2)回答用There are/is...句型
如果数量为1,则答语应为There is...,如果数量多于1,用There are...
► —How many cups are there on the table? 桌子上有多少个杯子?
—There is one./One. 有一个。/一个。
► —How many girls are there? 有多少个女孩?
—There are nine./Nine. 有9个。/9个。
当有两个或两个以上的名词时, be的形式则和第一个名词的数保持一致。如:

(3)many作为形容词,意为“很多”,修饰可数名词复数。
► I have mang new pencils.我有很多新铅笔。

(2)how old 多大(询问年龄)。如:
---- How old is your brother? 你弟弟多大了?
---- He is sixteen. 他16岁了。
(3)how tall 多高(询问人或物体的高度)。如:
---- How tall is the building? 这座楼多高?
---- 30 metres. 30米高。
(4)How often多久一次
----How often do you play computer? 你玩电脑的频率是多少?

(5)How far多远

知识点03 可数名词单数转化为复数形式
可数名词单数转化为复数形式的变化规则,有如下几种情况:
(1)名词后直接加-s。如:
► boy—boys girl—girls
(2)辅音字母+y结尾,变y为i,加-es。如:
► city—cities family—families
(3)以s, x, ch, sh结尾,加-es。如:
► watch—watches box—boxes class—classes
(4)以f, fe结尾,变f 或fe为ves。如:
► knife—knives wolf—wolves
(5)以字母o结尾的名词有的加-s,有的加-es。如:
► radio—radios tomato—tomatoes
(6)特殊变化。如:
► foot—feet child—children woman—women man—men

“Life’s a long, long journey,” so we are told, and most of us would not set off on a journey, even a short one, without some ideas of where we wanted to go. Yet many people travel on life’s journey with no sense of direction at all.
Setting personal goals can give your life a sense of direction. Goal setting is used by top sports players, successful business people and achievers in all fields. Before you set personal goals, think about what you want to achieve with your life.
Try to set goals in some of the following categories (类别):
Education—Will you achieve the educational goals after finishing high school? Are you still growing and learning?
Family—What kind of relationship do you want with your parents and other family members?
Creative—Do you want to achieve any artistic goals?
Career—What job do you want to take when you grow up? What do you need to make your dream come true?
Public Service—Do you want to make the world a better place?
Physical—Are you fit enough to do the things you want to do?
Pleasure—How do you want to enjoy yourself?
To help make the process more manageable, divide your goals into smaller tasks. For example, if you want to reach a main goal in five years, set a three-year goal, a one-year goal, a three-month goal and a one-month goal. Then create a daily To-Do List of things that you should do today. When a goal is achieved, take the time to enjoy your success. This helps you build the self-confidence.
Remember, your goals can be changed as time goes on. But be sure your goals are the things you hope to achieve, not what your parents, family or teachers want.
