They had a very long and cold winter. Many of them died. Fortunately, Indians helped them, teaching them how to grow food and how to catch fish. In the next autumn, they got a harvest, getting a lot of food to eat. They survived. They gave their thanks for food and their new life. (老师一边拿着图片一边给学生讲故事,重点处理traveler, England autumn三个单词。)Step 2Reading Read the passage and answer 4 questions.When/Why/ How do people celebrate Thanksgiving?What do people eat on Thanksgiving?(先让学生问自己感兴趣的问题,再让学生通过阅读找到答案。)Do an interview about Thanksgiving between a reporter from china and American students.(用采访的形式来确认学生是否对Thanksgiving有了足够的了解。)Learn the steps of making a turkey.1)      Read and number the pictures 1-52)      Read , match the pictures with the verbal phrases.(让学生在语境中自己推测出一下动词短语的意思: mix together, fillwith,putin, placeon, coverwith,cutinto3)      Prepare to retell the process of making a turkey.4)      Choose 5 students to retell the process of making a turkey.4. How to make it?)(老师把班级分为AB两组。 A组读The Spring Festival, B 组读 The Dragon Boat Festival)The Spring Festival in ChinaThe Spring Festival, Chinese New Year is the oldest traditional festival in China. It is always on the 1st day of the lunar month and ends on the full moon(满月)15 days later. Although there are many interesting stories about why people celebrate the Spring Festival, there are two main reasons. First, people want to relax with their family after a year of hard work. Second, people wish for a lucky coming year. Chinese people believe that a good start to the year will lead to a lucky year.  Nowadays, Chinese people celebrate the Spring Festival by setting off fireworks, giving Lucky Money, visiting relatives and friends, pasting Spring Couplets. They also have a big meal at home with their family on the New Year's Eve. The most traditional food is dumplings.How to make dumplings?First, mix together some vegetables, meat and salt.Next, fill the dumpling wrappers with this mix.Then, close the dumplings.After that, cook the dumplings for 15 minutes.Finally, place them on a large plate and eat them.        The Dragon Boat Festival in ChinaThe Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional festival in China. It falls on the 5th day of the 5th month according to Chinese lunar calendar. There are many legends about the festival but the most popular is the legend of Qu Yuan, who is a great patriotic poet. He drowned himself in the river rather than see his country occupied and conquered by the State of Qin. Some people took boats down the river to find his body , while others threw food such as eggs and food like Zongzi into the river to attract fish from destroying Qu Yuan's body. To remember this great person, people decided to commemorate him on that day by holding Dragon Boat racing and eating Zongzi .How to make Zongzi? First, mix together meat, soy beans and rice.Next, make two or three bamboo leaves into a cone.Then, fill the cone with this mix.After that, wrap tightly and bind with string.Finally, boil them in a large pot for a few hours .      2.  Work in groups to make a booklet. (A组做一本The Spring Festival的小册子, B组做一本The Dragon Boat Festival的小册子。) Step 4Show their bookletsStudents show their booklets in groups。(开一个小型的阅读分享会,AB组分享合作完成的小册子。) Step 5HomeworkChoose one to doChoose your favorite festival, search the information on the Internet and make a booklet. 教学反思:本堂课很好的达成了教学目标。          1. 本堂课通过阅读感恩节这篇文章,以及拓展了春节和端午节两篇文章的阅读,让学生初步掌握了阅读节日文章的方法。          2. 学生能过通过语境和老师创设的情境来推测词汇的意思。          3. 运用制作节日小册子的方式,可以引起学生的兴趣,也适用于让学生进行阅读分享。          4. 学生感知了中外节日的相同和不同点。         不足之处:          1. 学生根据已做好的感恩节小册子来介绍感恩节,基本上说的是册子上的内容,拓展不多。          2. 拓展阅读还可以在课前布置,这样涉及的节日会更多,不会局限这三种节日。
