Welcome to your future life!
You get up in the morning and look into the mirror(镜子). Your face is not likely to change and stays young-looking. In 2035, medical science is better than ever. Many people of your age could live to be 150, so at 40, you’re not old at all. And your parents just had an anti-aging nanotechnology treatment. Now, all three of you look the same age!
You say to your shirt, “Turn red.” It changes from blue to red. In 2035, “smart clothes” contain particles, which are very tiny in size and can be programmed to change your clothes’ color or pattern.
You walk into the kitchen. You get the milk, but a voice says, “You shouldn’t drink that!” Your fridge has read the FRID chip, a piece of electronic equipment, on the milk bottle, and it knows the milk is old. In 2035, every food item in the supermarket has an FRID chip.
It’s time to go to work. In 2035, cars drive themselves. Just tell your “smart car” where to go. On the way, you can call a friend using your jacket sleeves(袖子). Nano-sized “smart technology” is all around you. “Your whole body and everything around you will become part of the same network,” says scientist Ampy Buchholz.
So will all these come true? For new technology to succeed, says scientist Andrew Zolli, “it has to be so much better that it replaces what we have already.” The Internet is one example-what will be the next?
51.According to the passage, what will happen in 2035?
A.People will live to be 150.

A.Why Will Everyday Life Be Changed? B.What Will We Eat and Wear in 2035?
C.How Will We Live in 2035? D.When Will Smart Technology Be Used?
If you think of the jobs robots could never do, doctors and teachers may be your answers. It’s easy to imagine smart cleaners and robot factory workers, but some jobs really need human thinking and creativity(创造力). Nowadays, robots already do a better job than doctors in hospitals in some way. Could there be a place for robots in education?
British expert Anthony Seldon thinks so. He believes in 2027 robots will do the main job of passing information and teachers will just help. They can even read students’ faces, movements and brain activities. However, it’s not a popular idea and it’s impossible that robots will really connect with humans like another human can.
But one thing is certain. A robot teacher is better than no teacher at all. In some parts of the world, there aren’t enough teachers. That problem could be partly solved by robots because they can teach anywhere and won’t get tired or move somewhere for a better job. Perhaps the question is not “Can robots do everything instead of teachers?” but “How can robots help teachers?” If robots could help to save the time teachers spend on students’ homework and reports, teachers would have more time and energy(精力)for the parts of the job humans do best.

Scientists at Stanford University have developed a new material(材料)these days. It can move heat out of buildings and into space. The scientists say the material can cool buildings even on hot days. The cooling material can be placed on the roof like solar panels(太阳能电池板). However, instead of turning sunlight into energy as solar panels do, the material turns heat into infrared radiation(红外辐射).
Shanhui Fan is an electrical engineering professor at Stanford University. He says that the panels have a kind of material that is like sand. The panels act like a mirror. They take heat out of buildings and reflect(反射)the light from the sun. Both the heat and sunlight are sent 100 kilometers into outer space.
The material doesn’t get heated up by the sun because it can cool itself. So the panels are cool to the touch, even in the sun. Researchers say they can reduce the indoor temperature to nearly 5℃ below the temperature outside.
Mr. Fan says it is like having a window into space. The heat is sent into space without warming the air. He also says buildings in developing countries that do not have air conditioning can use the panels.
Scientists say the big problem is developing an actual cooling system by using the high-tech panels. Nowadays, as much as 15% of the energy used in the United States is spent providing power to air conditioning systems. Scientists believe the cooling system can be developed in the next three to five years. It can greatly help save the energy.

Attention, people of earth:
Fine. The big secret is out. Your finest scientists have found there is life here, on our beautiful planet Venus(金星).
Congratulations! We have something to say:
Stay away, no exploration (探索):
We are serious. Stay away from us. If we wake up one morning and look out and see someone wandering around in a spacesuit, we are going to be really ticked off.
We mean no hostility (恶意). We’re actually a very nice planet. It’s just that we’re scared by what you’ve done down there. Earth looks like a mess,it is completely ruined (破坏). You’ve got health crises (危机), environmental crises, political crises. You keep fighting about face masks. No wonder so many of you want to leave Earth for another planet.
Leave us alone. Stay right where you are.
We know you’d like it here. That’s what scares us. You’d all move to Venus in a minute. We’ve got beautiful weather, little traffic, a proper cost of living. On Venus, you can only buy a three-bedroom for, like $135,000. (Paragraph 7)
Crazy, right?
In all fairness, you’ve got some good stuff over there, too. Earth does have its attractive qualities. We’re jealous of the Qomolangma, the Amazon rainforest, and the Palace Museum.
But we live in a fragile (脆弱的) solar system. We can only deal with so much. If we start having you all up here, pretty soon, the Martians and Jupiterians (火星人和木星人) are going to want to come, too. Trust us: you don’t want them sleeping on your sofa, drinking all your beer.
We’ve been there before, and they left this place a mess.
Cool your enthusiasm (热情). We’re not your escape plan. Venus is not Earth 2.
We wish you the best in saving your planet.
Sincerely,
Venus

Most of the people are now vegetarians (素食者). They eat only bread, vegetables, fruits and so on and they don’t eat meat or fish. You see, the number of animals decreases (减少), so people have to be vegetarians. We know how to deal with all kinds of illnesses. No one will be ill any more.

Now scientists are learning how to use science technology to make schools better. In the future, there will be a new kind of school which is connected (连接) with libraries, museums and companies. This new kind of school is different from our present schools. Scientists will give talks through the Internet. What’s more, this new kind of school will develop subjects that students can study on the Internet. Students can listen to talks, have lessons, read books, watch learning videos and do their homework on computers. It’s very convenient. Also, parents can check their children’s study through the Internet. In this way, they can know about their children’s study easily and quickly.
Is that a dream? No. There are already a lot of schools using the Internet to give lessons. Those schools are connected to the Internet. Everyone can read books and study at home, at school or in the office. So children don’t have to go to school. How different schools will be! Life is changing and schools will be changed as well.
B.Clothes will be much cheaper.
C.Cars can change colour themselves.
D.Food can stay fresh for a longer time.

B.Technology can take the place of humans.
C.Technology can cause stress for people.
D.Technology can become very common.
54.What is the best title for the passage?
55.Anthony believes in 2027________.
A.robots can do a better job than doctors
B.robots will do the same job as human teachers
C.robots can understand students from their faces
D.robots will move for better jobs like human teachers
56.Why could robots partly solve the problem in Paragraph 3? ________
A.They can teach anywhere. B.They can’t get tired easily.
C.They can’t waste time on homework. D.They can do everything instead of humans.

72.The new material can cool the buildings by ________.
A.placing it on the ground B.turning sunlight into energy
C.using solar panels D.turning heat into infrared radiation
73.The underlined word “it” in Paragraph 3 is about ________.

A.The new material won’t warm the air when sending heat into space.
B.The panels have sand to help take heat out of buildings.
C.It needs more energy to power the new cooling system than air conditioning.
D.Now people in the US can use the new cooling system to cool their houses.
76.The passage is mainly about ________.
A.a new kind of solar panel B.a new kind of space material
C.a new kind of cooling material D.a new kind of energy
Sincerely,
Venus

Now scientists are learning how to use science technology to make schools better. In the future, there will be a new kind of school which is connected (连接) with libraries, museums and companies. This new kind of school is different from our present schools. Scientists will give talks through the Internet. What’s more, this new kind of school will develop subjects that students can study on the Internet. Students can listen to talks, have lessons, read books, watch learning videos and do their homework on computers. It’s very convenient. Also, parents can check their children’s study through the Internet. In this way, they can know about their children’s study easily and quickly.
