(2023·内蒙古包头·统考中考真题)There are millions of teenagers using social media every day. Although some people think social media is a positive thing, many are worried about the negative influences it can have on young people.
Many teenagers agree that social media helps them stay connected to their friends and make new friends from around the world. More and more teenagers are willing to share their life and thoughts online. Thanks to advances in technology, how teenagers make friends and communicate with each other has changed greatly.
However, social media also has many disadvantages, one of which is that some parents believe social media makes it harder for families to spend time together. They say that things on the Net seem super appealing, and that their kids can’t take their eyes off the screen. As a result, teenagers pay no attention to the rest of their family.
Another serious problem is that social media makes bullies (霸凌者) easier to reach their goals. A great many people have experienced cyberbullying—bullying that takes place online. So how can teenagers protect themselves if the cyberbullying has taken place? Gwen Taylor, an expert from a charity, which works to end online bullying, suggests, “The first thing to do is to tell a trusted adult about what is going on.” “If someone posts content that frightens you, you can report it to the social media platform. You’d better keep the screenshot (屏幕截图) of the behavior because this will help you to report it and help others to help you,” says Taylor.
Perhaps the more effective way is to try to be a good digital citizen. How you act online is just as important as how others treat you. Good digital citizens use online spaces positively, which means treating everybody online with kindness and respect. Respect other people’s feelings and don’t be mean (刻薄的). “If you have shared something you shouldn’t have, it’s never too late to say sorry and fix the situation—such as taking the post down. If you notice somebody is being cyberbullied, consider reporting it and getting in touch with the person being treated badly to make sure he is OK,” Taylor advises.
6.What’s the advantage of social media according to the passage?
A.It helps teenagers make more friends.
B.It enables teenagers to do more exercise.
C.It makes teenagers focus on their schoolwork.
D.It offers teenagers chances to stay with families.
7.What does the underlined word “appealing” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
    A.Interesting. B.Tiring. C.Traditional. D.Scary.
8.What should teenagers do when faced with cyberbullying?
    A.Believe it’s not a big deal. B.Keep the problem a secret.
C.Never surf the Internet again. D.Tell a trusted adult what happened.
9.Which statement would the author most probably agree with?
A.Teenagers are too shy to share their opinions online.
B.All the teenagers have learned the rules of being safe online.
C.Teenagers should be responsible for their words and actions online.
D.It’s wise to keep silent when you find your friend is being bullied online.
(2023·浙江宁波·统考中考真题)①Have you ever thought about what’s more important, looking fashionable or feeling comfortable? You might have noticed many people choosing style over comfort and some even go to extremes(极端)to follow fashion. But we should remember: being fashionable isn’t everything. It’s more important to be healthy.
②Some people believe that they need to be a certain size to look good. So, they start extreme diets(日常饮食)that are not good for their health. They might not eat meals or eat too little, which can make them feel sick. Is it a healthy way to live?
③Also, many girls wear shoes with very high heels. They might think high heels make them look taller. But these shoes can actually hurt their feet and make it hard to walk comfortably, and it can increase risks of falls. Some even wear tight(紧的)clothes that influence blood circulation(循环)making it hard to breathe. Should we put fashion over comfort and physical health?
④Besides, some boys and girls spend a lot of time and money changing their hair color. The material they use is usually harmful to their health. To make their hair straight or curly, they also use tools that are hot enough to burn their hair. But using these tools too often or at very high temperatures can make the hair dry or even burnt. Is it really worth it to risk our health, spending so much time and money?
⑤So, let’s rethink what’s really important. Is it fashion or is it our well-being? Clothes or hairstyles don’t tell us anything about a person’s character. Instead of spending a lot of time choosing clothes, we could use that time to do fun things with friends. And instead of following extreme diets, let’s eat properly and exercise regularly. Remember, your worth is not decided by your appearance, but by who you are as a person.
10.Why do some people go on extreme diets according to the passage?
A.Because the diets are healthy. B.Because they just want to look good.
C.Because they want to save time. D.Because they want to save money.
11.What is the writer’s purpose of using a question in each paragraph?
A.To ask for help from readers. B.To tell how to spend time and money.
C.To describe the latest fashion. D.To lead readers to think about the topic.
12.What does the underlined word “well-being” in Paragraph 5 mean?
    A.Growth. B.Health. C.Warmth. D.Wealth.
13.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
    A. B. C. D.

(2023·广东·统考中考真题)Some animals can easily find their way home after a long journey. How do they make it? Scientific research shows that they are born with certain unusual abilities for direction.
A certain kind of ants, for example, can count their steps to avoid getting lost. They can go as far as 110 metres and bring food home. These ants live in the open desert (沙漠), so they have nothing to guide them along the way. It’s like someone walking six kilometres through a dark forest.
Some fish have an unbelievable sense of smell. They can smell even a single drop of their home water in a large sea area. Some sea birds have a similar ability. They are able to make a smell map of their flying area.
Some animals can sense the earth’s magnetic field (磁场), while humans can’t. This magnetic field guides a certain kind of fish when they swim a long way to a place and then back. How can this kind of fish do that? It is still a mystery. Scientists have no good answers yet.
However, animals with such unusual abilities still have difficulty dealing with environmental changes caused by human activities. For example, many birds depend on stars for direction, but they get lost easily at night when city lights are kept on all night. To solve this problem, we can simply turn off some lights at night. Clearly, one small act of humans may mean a lot to animals.

A.To help animals. B.To travel at night.
C.To keep city lights on. D.To develop unusual abilities.

(2023·湖北荆州·统考中考真题)How was your sleep last night? Sleep is important for health. How can we have healthy sleep? Take a look at some advice.
    Wake up naturally
Waking up to a ringing alarm is never fun. Studies show that when you get shocked by the alarm, your breathing will go up, your heart will have more beats and your blood pressure will rise.
“This is a very unhappy way to start the day,” sleep scientist Whitney Roban said. “You’ll feel worse if you go back to sleep a few more minutes. It’s important to follow your body’s natural sleep—wake cycle (循环).”
So what should we do? Try to use an alarm with softer and lower sounds. Or leave a crack(缝隙) in the curtains(窗帘)—the rising sun will wake you up.
Sleep early and get up early
Some young people may go to bed late and get up late, such as sleeping from 2 am to 10 am. They think as long as they have eight hours of sleep, everything will be fine.
But in fact, our bodies can tell time. They use light and temperature to do so. If we wake up too late, our bodies might feel stuck between sleep and being awake. That’s why sometimes we feel even more tired after oversleeping.
32.According to studies, what will happen to your body if an alarm wakes you up suddenly?
A.Your heart will beat faster. B.You may breathe more slowly.
C.Your body temperature will go up. D.You will have lower blood pressure.
33.Which of the following does Whitney Roban agree?
A.Trying to use an alarm with louder sounds.

35.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Why people need to sleep. B.Why people have sleeping problems.
C.How to have healthy sleep. D.How to wake up in a natural way.

(2023·湖北荆州·统考中考真题)Recently, I went out to a bar with my friend Nicole. I didn’t actually know her well as we had only met once at a meeting. When I found myself in her town, we decided to meet up. Since we knew little about each other, we shared our stories, and she asked me many questions about my travels.
When answering her questions about what I had learned in my travels, I told Nicole that travel had greatly improved my ability to “read” people and situations.
“Oh? OK. Read my friends over there,” she challenged me.
So I offered her my opinions about her friends and the other people in the bar.
“How did I do?” I asked when I had finished.
    “Wow!” She was shocked.
You might want to know how I was able to get those people right. For sure, I knew nothing about mind games. I judged(判断) their personalities simply by reading their body language, facial expressions, dress, and the way they talked with one another.
I had travelled a lot before. When I was travelling, I couldn’t always understand what people were trying to say to me as most of them didn’t speak English. Non-verbal communication became very important. Whenever words failed, I depended on people’s facial expressions. By watching how people behaved, I tried to work out how they felt about something. The tone (音调) in people’s voices was quite helpful, too.
The more I travelled and the more I talked with different people, the better I became at “reading” people. If you travel widely, you will be able to develop this ability, too.
40.What was the relationship between Nicole and the writer before their recent meet?
A.They were close friends. B.They didn’t know each other well.
C.They used to work in the same office. D.They often went to the bar together.
41.How did Nicole feel after the writer had read her friends in the bar?
    A.Thankful. B.Nervous. C.Surprised. D.Uncomfortable.
42.According to the article, how does the writer “read” people?
A.By playing a clever trick on them.
B.By surveying some of their friends.
C.By having a short conversation with them.
D.By studying their clothes, expressions and so on.
43.What does the underlined word “non-verbal” mean?
A.Taking place online. B.Not using words.
C.Not writing English. D.Talking with strangers.
(2023·陕西·统考中考真题)Chemistry is usually thought to be more difficult than other subjects, at least for the beginners. There are some reasons for this idea. For one thing, chemistry has a very specialized vocabulary(学科专用语汇). At first, studying chemistry is like learning a new language. Also, some concepts(概念)of chemistry are hard to understand. However, with hard work and careful study, you can finish this subject successfully— and even enjoy it. Here are some suggestions to help you develop good study habits and better understand the topics in the book:
●Firstly, attend classes on time. Listen to your teacher and take careful notes in class. If possible, always review the topics you learn in class, and review your notes on the same day.
●Secondly, think carefully whether you really understand the meaning of a term or the use of an equation(方程式). A good way to test your understanding is to explain a concept to a classmate or someone else.
●Thirdly, pay attention to things which have something to do with chemistry in life. Watch or do experiments in class carefully.
●Fourthly, question often and do not be afraid to ask your teacher or classmates for help.
You will find that chemistry is much more than numbers, formulas(分子式)and equations. It’s often used in daily life just like math and physics. Once you fall in love with it, you’ll get lots of fun.
44.How many suggestions does the writer give the readers?
    A.Three. B.Four. C.Five. D.Six.
45.The writer thinks that a good way to test your understanding of the formula “H2CO3” is to ________.
A.write it on the blackboard B.read it aloud in class

47.The passage is mainly about ________.
A.differences between chemistry and physics B.the importance of chemistry and physics
C.why chemistry is hard for beginners D.how students study chemistry

(2023·四川乐山·统考中考真题)Britain has many kilometers of rivers and canals (运河) —and around 30, 000 people live on these waters in houseboats.
People started living in houseboats in the 1800s, when the country’s canals were built. People chose to live on the water in order to feel closer to nature and have a quieter way of life.
Living on the water sounds romantic (浪漫的) , but it is also hard work. There are many jobs to do every day, such as bringing in clean water and getting rid of dirty water from the toilet, sink (水槽) and shower. During winter, living on a boat can be very cold. Also, most boats are quite small inside. You don’t have much space, especially if you are a couple, family or group of friends.
Although it is not easy, the number of people living on houseboats has grown by around 50% over the past 10 years. More families and young people are choosing to live on houseboats because it is much cheaper to buy or rent (租) a boat than a flat or a house.
Another good thing about living on the water is the friendly neighbors. People who live on houseboats always help each other and usually become good friends. This is quite a different story from people who live in flats or houses and may hardly know the people next door at all.
63.How many people live in houseboats on the waters in Britain?
    A.About 1,800. B.About 15.000. C.About 30,000.
64.What does the underlined words “getting rid of” in paragraph 3 mean?
    A.摆脱 B.倒掉 C.赶走
65.Which of the following is TRUE according to the story?
A.Houseboats have very big bedrooms to live.
B.Living on houseboats is the most comfortable.
C.Living on houseboats is very cold during winter.
66.Why do many people choose to live on houseboats?
A.Because it is much cheaper to rent a houseboat than a flat.
B.Because they are looking for something special.
C.Because they are tired of living in flats.
67.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.People living in houses like to tell stories.
B.People living in flats are not friendly.
C.People living on houseboats are kind.
(2023·四川乐山·统考中考真题)Some students often complain (抱怨) about learning English. The subject, they say, takes up too much of their time. They have to read many passages, look up new words in the dictionary and do lots of exercises. Although they work hard, they still can’t get good scores on tests. “Why?” they ask. “How can I enjoy success?”
The story of Chinese astronaut Deng Qingming might help to answer their questions.
Deng was chosen as an astronaut trainee (接受培训者) in 1998. That was long ago—you readers hadn’t even been born yet. Since that day, he had spent almost all of his time training hard to become an astronaut. Over the years, Deng has seen other trainees with him go into space one after another. However, he was always a backup (后备人员) . He often felt sad. Sometimes, he even cried.
But Deng never gave up. Although he is now in his fifties, he keeps training hard. “I must be ready whenever the chance comes to me,” he once said. Finally, on the night of November 29, 2022, he and two other astronauts boarded the Shenzhou 15 spaceship and flew into space. Deng had waited 24 years for this very moment.
So, if you want to give up learning English (or something else), think about Deng’s story. Your efforts might not pay off immediately. Be patient, though. Try to improve your methods and keep going. One day, success will knock at your door. Being different from Deng, you probably won’t even have to wait 24 years for that moment!

    A.Learning English. B.Flying into space.
C.Keeping training hard. D.Seeing others training.
70.How did Deng Qingming feel when he was always a backup?
    A.Sad. B.Angry. C.Nervous. D.Surprised.
71.How many astronauts boarded the Shenzhou 15 spaceship and flew into space?
    A.One. B.Two. C.Three. D.Four.
72.What does the writer want to show by telling the story of Deng Qingming?
A.Don’t complain when you meet difficulties.
B.Don’t give up and keep going, you will succeed.
C.You’ll get good scores on tests if you work hard.
D.You’ll have to wait 24 years if you want to succeed.
(2023·湖南株洲·统考中考真题)Take care of your plants! They may “shout” if you treat them badly.
Plants can make sounds when they are stressed, according to a recent study. “Plants use sound to communicate with animals all the time, so it would be very inconvenient for plants not to use sound at all.” Lilach Hadany, co-author (合著者) of the study, told Science Focus.
With this in mind, the research team started by recording plants’ sounds. They put sweet-pepper and tomato plants in soundproof boxes to shut off the noise in the environment. Several ultrasonic microphones (超声波麦克风) were then put near the plants, which can record between 20 and 250 kilohertz (千赫兹). A human adult’s ear can hear about 16 kilohertz. There were three groups of plants: One group wasn’t watered for five days, another group had some parts cut off and the last group was untouched. The microphones caught sounds from 40 to 80 kilohertz from the first two groups. The sound, which was similar to the noise of popcorn popping grew louder and louder during the five days of water stress. They then began to become weaker and weaker as the plants dried out. A stressed plan produced the popping sound around 30 to 50 times per hour, while the untouched group only produced around once per hour, according to the study.
73.Plants use ________ to communicate with animals all the time according to the study.
    A.sound B.smell C.light

    A.发出声音的 B.隔离声音的 C.吸收声音的
75.A human adult’s ear can hear about ________.
    A.16 kilohertz B.20 kilohertz C.250 Kilohertz
76.According to the study, the untouched group of the plants produced the popping sound around ________.
A.40 to 80 times per hour B.30 to 60 times per hour C.once per hour
77.What is the main idea of the passage?
    A.Plants can make sounds.
B.How to take care of your plants.
    C.The team made machine-learning applications.
