Teaching aims:
1. Students can answer the questions according to the text. Students can understand and grasp the following key words and key sentence well: amazing, take, short, helicopter; It was amazing. By watching the video of Stonehenge, Students can learn more about this mystery place. Broaden their cultural horizons.
2. According to the examples, students can write two or three sentences to describe the past activities.
4. Students can make a survey in their group with the sentence “What did you do last Saturday?”. To investigate the other group members’ activities on last Saturday. Then report it.
5. According to the example, students can write an email to introduce what did they do last Saturday.
Teaching steps:
Step 1: Warming up
- Present the first part. Ask students to watch and find “Which ride would Daming like to take?” then ask students ”Why does he like to take a bus ride?”
- Listen and imitate Part 1
Step 2: Presentation and practice
- Review Unit1: Last class, we learnt that Lingling had a trip with Amy. Do you remember where are they going to go? And when will they go there?
- During the trip, there was a very big surprise waiting for Lingling. Watch the CD-ROM and find out: What is the big surprise?
3. Fill in the blanks: take a ______ ride.
4. Present different pictures of Stonehenge, then let students choose which one could Lingling see from the sky? Why? Students will choose the ones with small stones.
5. Watch a short video about Stonehenge.
6. Read the letter with one question: How did Lingling feel? Teach “amazing”.
7. Listen and imitate Part 2.
Step 3: Consolidation and extension
- Do the exercises in the activity book, then check.
- Do the exercise of Part3, provide more pictures for students to practice.
- Listen and say the chant in Part 4.
- Group work: Ask and answer. Then report.
Ask students to make a survey about “What did you do last weekend?” and report to class.
- Write an email about what did you do last Saturday.
Teacher makes an example first. Then let the students write down and introduce their experience. Remind students to tell: Where did you go? What did you see? What did you do? How did you feel?
Step 4 Summary
Encourage the students to retell what they have learned in this class by themselves and I will make a brief conclusion.
