The man standing beside the boy in black is Mao Jiafeng. He is a Chinese teacher in a junior high school in the United Arab Emirates (UAE 阿联酋). He has been teaching Chinese there for four years.

Mao showed his interest in teaching Chinese to foreigners during his work in Egypt (埃及). Although he was good at working in the communications industry (通信行业)， he realized that international Chinese education was his dream job. "Since I learned Arabic in the university and I have many friends in Arab countries, I can tell Chinese culture to the people in these countries," said Mao.

Spider-Man (蜘蛛侠) is often thought of as one of the best superheroes (超级英雄) of all time. But did you know that he almost wasn't created?

Stan Le came up with the idea for Spider-Man in 1962. He was different from what had come before. He was a high school student who had everyday problems like us. Back then, superheroes were strong grown men who saved people. Teenagers were helpers. The heroes didn't have to worry about real-life problems like working for money and caring for an old family member. They flew in the sky and fought aliens (外星人). Stan Lee was about to change that.

When Stan told his boss(老板) about Spider-Man, his boss said it was "the worst idea" he'd ever heard, reported the Vintage News. Do you often fall asleep while listening to beautiful music at night? Or are you woken up by the singing of birds outside in the morning? Have you ever thought about why you can enjoy all of these things? That's because of one important organ (器官) - the ear.

You may wonder: how do our ears work? The ear has three different parts: the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear. The outer ear is the part you can see. It collects sound around you. The sound then travels down to the middle ear, the inner ear and then to your brain (大脑).

Your ears never stop working, even when you are asleep! Your ears continue hearing sounds, but your brain just ignores(忽略) them. That's why you may sometimes wake up in the middle of the night- your brain heard something, but you don't know what it was, since you were asleep.

But ears do more than hear. They help your balance(平衡)， too. In the inner ear, there are organs that are filled with liquid (液体) and covered in small hairs. When you move your head, the liquid and hairs move, too. They send messages to your brain about where your head is.

More surprisingly, ears even help with tasting food. Of course, you don't actually taste food with your ears. There are nerves (神经) running through the middle ear and those nerves join the tongue (舌) to the brain. If something wrong happens to your ears, it's difficult for you to tell different tastes apart, according to the People's Daily website.
