A promotion offering 98 yuan domestic plane tickets is being advertised by Chinese online travel platform LY. COM. While such a low price sounds amazing, there is just one catch: The purchase is not told where the flight is heading, nor when it will take off.
The promotion has become a trending topic on Chinese social media, as some people have been attempting to book them ahead of the upcoming summer holiday. Labeled as a “destination blind box” on the site, tickets are purchased through a rather simple booking procedure, in which passengers provide their travel information, select a departure airport and then pay their 98 yuan. If the randomly chosen date and destination are unsuitable, users may ask for a refund, but once they “lock in” their tickets, there is no going back.
The “destination blind box” is now a hot topic on China’s online platforms. “I believe young people are a big target demographic (目标群体) for this promotion, because they not only enjoy the thrill of the unknown, but also like to show off their lives through these types of commercial activities. Like this one for instance, it doesn’t matter whether they finally go or not. Booking a ticket and posting about it on social media can still suggest that one has adventurous and life- loving qualities,” said Fan, a marketing expert who has worked with civil aviation clients.
Many people not only shared the screenshots of tickets they drew, but also came up with a tutorial to teach the booking procedure under the free canceling policy. However, some others claimed it is too rare to draw a ticket that is ideal. “If it wants to be a profitable activity, the release of the tickets must have been planned ahead and is not as random as it seems. It will not have popular airlines. The marketing campaign may also be aimed at the fast sale of some tickets from less popular airlines that were originally not that expensive. If they sell a large quantity of tickets, the company may still earn a profit even though the price is 98 yuan,” an expert in tourism suggested.
24.Which of the following best explains “catch” underlined in paragraph 1?
    A.Benefit. B.Disadvantage. C.Mistake. D.Charm.
25.What is paragraph 2 mainly about?
A.The origin of the “destination blind box”.
B.The popularity of the “destination blind box”.
C.The original purpose of the “destination blind box”.
D.The purchase introduction to the “destination blind box”.
26.Why will a “destination blind box” appeal to young people according to Fan?
A.It helps them save money on the cost of travel.
B.It allows them to experience various adventures.
C.It satisfies their desire to travel around China.
D.It agrees with their lifestyles and attitudes.
27.What can we infer about the promotion from the last paragraph?
A.It facilitates getting an ideal ticket.
B.It will not bring in any profit.
C.It still needs to be improved.
D.It will give a boost to tourism.
    C
A remote hospital in an area of Bangladesh has been named the world’s best new building. The Friendship Hospital in Satkhira was announced winner of 2021’s impressive RIBA International Prize on Tuesday, with its architects (建筑师) praised for putting “care and humanity at the heart of its design”.
RIBA (the Royal Institute of British Architects), which organizes the award, praised the hospital’s design for fitting in with the surrounding countryside and creating an “uplifting and inviting experience for visitors, patients and healthcare professionals”.
Constructed from locally-made materials, the 80-bed hospital was built around a series of courtyards lined with shaded walkways, which encourages natural ventilation (通风) and rules out the need for air conditioning. And a canal cuts through the center of the site to separate inpatient and outpatient wings, helping with “micro climatic cooling” during hot Bangladesh summers. The architects also created a drainage (排水) system that channels rainwater into a storage tank for future use and prevents the courtyards from being flooded with water.
Kashef Chowdhury, the lead architect, described honoring such a project from a little-known place as an important moment. “This may inspire more of us to devote limited resources and means to an architecture of care both for humanity and for nature,” he said in a press statement.
Held every two years, the prize honors buildings or structures that “demonstrate design excellence and social impact”. In a press release announcing the winner, RIBA noted that the Friendship Hospital was built in a “friendly environment”, where grain fields have been turned into sea-food farms due to rising sea levels.
“It is a demonstration of how beautiful architecture can be achieved through good design when working with a relatively limited budget,” the chairman said. “The hospital is a celebration of a building contributed to humans.”

    28. Which of the following disagrees with the hospital’s design concept?
    A. Caring for people.
    B. Using local resources.
    C. Adopting high technology.
    D. Maintaining harmony with its environment.
    29. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about concerning the hospital?
    A. The storage of rainwater. B. The flood control measures.
    C. The air conditioning system. D. The sustainable design features.
    30. How did Kashef sound in his press statement?
    A. Encouraged. B. Concerned. C. Disappointed. D. Relaxed.
    31. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?
    A. The Structure and System of Bangladesh Hospital
    B. Bangladesh Hospital Named World’s Best New Building
    C. Kashef Chowdhury: The Designer of Bangladesh Hospital
    D. The Royal Institute of British Architects Organized an Award

Fifty millilitres of perfume rests inside a piece of an elegantly engineered glassware. This delicate bottle, in turn, sits within an equally elegant cardboard box. This box is wrapped (包装)in a thin layer of transparent plastic film and sealed with a holographic sticker. "Would you like it gift-wrapped?” ,asks the eager salesperson. Now another layer of glossy paper, complexity and ribbons is added. Finally, the whole thing is dropped into a cardboard gift bag, bearing the shop's branding.
Surely, it's the gift that counts. It turns out, however, that we appear to appreciate gifts more if they have been gift-wrapped. Studies found gift-wrapped presents were, on average, always rated more highly than non-wrapped ones. This preference was true even when gift-wrapping was pretty basic, that is, no bows or ribbons. One explanation is that, on some level, what we appreciate is the extra effort that it takes to package and gift-wrap items so delicately.
The downside of our love of beautiful packaging and seemly gift-wrapping, however, is that it has an impact on the environment. According to The Guardian, the United Kingdom alone consumes 8,000 tons of wrapping paper a year. Using the most conservative estimates, it takes approximately 12 trees to produce one ton of paper: that's about 96,000 trees in gift-wrap each year for the UK alone.
Perhaps during festive periods, we could launch highly visible campaigns urging the disposal of gift-wrap and product packaging within easily accessible recycling bins. Similarly, shops that offer gift-wrapping could be strongly encouraged to use only recycled paper. Beyond consumer and retailer efforts, producers also need to rethink their packaging - less is best. I would like to see all perfume bottles manufactured so as to be refillable, as they once were and still are in the more traditional Arabian perfume shops.
32.How does the writer begin the passage?
    A.By making a comparison. B.By describing a scene.
    C.By presenting a reason. D.By raising a question.
33.What does the gift-wrapping preference cause?
    A.The boom of non-wrapped gifts.
    B.Fierce competitions between shops.
    C.The disappearance of simple packaging.
    D.Unnecessary consumption of resources.
34.What's the writer's attitude towards traditional Arabian perfume shops?
    A.Reserved. B.Favorable. C.Ambiguous. D.Opposed.
35.What can be the best title for the passage?
A.Sending Fewer Gifts Is Better B.Gift-wrapping Is Here to Stay
C.It Makes No Sense to Wrap Gifts D.Gift-wrapping Culture Needs to Change

Adam, Nick, and Tom were best friends. Five years after their graduation from college, Nick called Adam and Tom, inviting them to celebrate his birthday on his personal yacht (游艇). They got very excited.
It was a bright and sunny summer day. As Nick was studying the safety measures of the sea journey, he saw Adam and Tom coming towards his yacht. With huge hugs and smiles on every face, the three greeted each other in their usual way. “Thank you boys for coming and making my birthday even more special,” said Nick.
“But before getting started, hope you both know there is a danger zone at a particular point on this sea, ” warned Adam.
“Don’t worry. I will stay away from it. Now let the party begin!” Nick responded, starting to turn the steering wheel (方向盘) of the yacht.
Treating the friends on the beautiful white yacht sailing on the blue water was a perfect idea. They were having a wonderful time, talking, eating and joking. How time flew! It started getting dark.
“Hey guys! It’s time to go back,” Tom shouted.
“Mr. Sailor, turn your ship’s wheel and take us back home,” said Adam.
Little did they know they were going to encounter life-threatening challenges ahead. Unknowingly, Nick crossed the danger zone Adam had mentioned earlier. When realizing this, Nick decided to make a turn immediately. Unfortunately, a strange noise came from the engine and then the yacht stopped. Expert at mending machines, Adam offered to examine the engine and asked Nick to fetch the tool box. Nick was hurrying to get it when he slipped, falling into the sea water.
    “Nick!” Tom and Adam screamed.
Panicked, Nick started shouting for help. Tom rushed inside the yacht to get a life jacket to rescue Nick, but didn’t find one. Instead, he found a long rope and out he rushed with it.

I’m honored to give this speech. Due to social and economic developments, human beings have damaged the environment seriously, and we are faced with serious problems like global warming, frequent natural disasters. In other words, going green means protecting ourselves.
Everyone can play an active part in the campaign. First of all, we can try to use public transportation or travel on foot or by bike. Besides, we should cherish what we have and make good use of water, electricity, paper, food, etc. We can start by exchanging our second-hand books with others. Finally, if possible, classify our garbage and recycle it.
Start now and we’ll make a difference. That’s all. Thank you.

    第二节
Just then Adam shouted on top of his voice, “Nick! Look, there’s a shark behind you!” Turning his head, Nick was shocked to find a black figure approaching him. Helpless and frightened, Nick swam towards the yacht like crazy. Tom quickly threw the rope down at Nick, who succeeded in grasping it. With all their strength, Tom and Adam pulled Nick up from the water before the shark could swallow him. But the hungry animal didn’t give up, swimming around the yacht for its dinner. Terrified as the three guys were, they knew they must do something to escape from the danger.
