Fabien Cousteau was born with deep love for the ocean. His grandfather and his father were ocean explorers and documentary filmmakers. Fabien spent his early years on his grandfather's ships. Today, Fabien follows in his family's footsteps to protect the planet's endangered ocean life. With his vast knowledge and experience, he tries to strike a balance between environmental problems and market economies.
Fabien is well known for his study of sharks. During 2000-2002, he created a TV special called Attack of the Mystery Shark based on the shark attacks that occurred along the New Jersey shoreline in the summer of 1916. Then in 2003-2006, with the help of a large crew, Fabien created a shark submarine (潜艇) that enabled him to put himself inside the shark world, providing people with a rare view of the mysterious and often misunderstood creatures.
For the next four years (2006-2010), Fabien was part of a series called, Ocean Adventures, which offered a rare look into some of the most fantastic ocean species (物种) and environments.
In 2010, Fabien started Plant A Fish, a nonprofit project for children to help restore local water ecosystems by replanting key ocean species. Save the world, one fish at a time. The project is still in progress now and its final goal is to plant 1 billion “fish” worldwide.
From June 1 to July 2, 2014, Fabien and his team spent 31 days underwater to research how climate change and pollution are affecting the oceans. Fabien's Mission 31 broke new ground by going deeper, longer and further, exposing (显露) the world to the adventure and the mystique (神秘) of what lies beneath.
Fabien is currently working on a documentary film about the adventures of Mission 31, as well as building an Ocean Learning Center to provide children around the world with the opportunity to learn about oceans and engage

with ocean explorers directly through social media.
    4. What is Not Fabien’s job?

    C. Environmentalist D. Media manager
    5. How is Paragraph 2 developed?
    A. By providing facts. B. By offering analyses.
    C. By making comparisons. D. By drawing conclusions.

Why do you go to the library? For books, yes — but you like books because they tell stories. You hope to get lost in a story or be transported into someone else’s life. At one type of library, you can do just that — even though there’s not a single book.
At a Human Library, instead of books, you can “borrow” people. Individuals volunteer as human “books” and participants in the event can “read” the book — meaning they would have a one-on-one conversation with the volunteer and share in a dialogue about that individual’s experience. “Books” are volunteers from all walks of life who have experienced discrimination (歧视) based on race, religion, class, gender identity, age, lifestyle choices, disability and other aspects of their life.
According to its website, the Human Library is “a place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered.” It provides the opportunity for the community to share and understand the experiences of others in their community.
The Human Library Organization came to be in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2000. Ronni Abergel and his colleagues hosted a four-day event during a major Northern European festival, hoping to raise awareness about violence among youth. After the success of this event, Abergel founded the Human Library Organization, which

    has been growing ever since.
Though there are a few permanent human libraries, most aren’t places at all, but events. Though many do take place at physical libraries, you don’t need a library card — anyone can come and be part of the experience. There have been human library events all over the globe, in universities and in pubs, from Chicago to Tunis to Edinburgh to San Antonio.
The stories these “books” tell range from fascinating to heartbreaking and everything in between. And that’s the very point of the organization — to prove that no person can be summed up in just one word. It seeks to show people that you truly can’t judge a book by its cover — or by its title or label.
    8. The “books” in human libraries are_____________.
    A. long-held beliefs attracting individuals B. inspiring stones motivating people in trouble
    C. events in which people can talk to volunteers D. unfairly-treated people sharing their experiences
    9. The event in Copenhagen is significant because it_____________.
    A. aimed to help the young suffering from violence
    B. attempted to replace traditional physical libraries
    C. laid a foundation for the Human Library Organization
    D. led to a pleasing development for the community with racism
    10. In human libraries the readers are likely to_____________. ,
    A. deepen their understanding of people
    B. enrich their own personal experiences
    C. hear the stories told by celebrities from all over the world
    D. make quick judgments about the “books”
    11. The main purpose of the passage is to_____________.
    A. evaluate and educate B. inform and explain C. discuss and persuade D. analyze and suggest
    D
On June 17, China launched three astronauts into orbit to begin occupation of the country’s new space station. The three men — Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming, and Tang Hongbo — are to spend three months aboard the Tianhe module some 380km above the Earth. It will be China’s longest crewed space mission to date and the first in nearly five years.
The primary purpose of the team on the Shenzhou- 12 mission is to bring the 22.5-tonne Tianhe module into service. “We need to set up our new home in space and test a series of new technologies,” Mr. Nie said ahead of the

launch. “So, the mission is tough and challenging. I believe with the three of us working closely together, doing thorough and accurate operations, we can overcome our challenges. We do have the confidence to complete the mission.”
The crew successfully docked(对接) with the space station over seven hours after the launch. The moment of contact was met with applause from mission control and the huge land in China. The launch and following mission are definitely a demonstration of China’s growing confidence and capability in the space field. President Xi Jinping has thrown his support behind the country’s space efforts, and the Chinese official media regularly cast the “space dream” as one significant step on the path to “national rejuvenation(民族复兴)” .
China has in recent years made no secret of its space ambitions. It has poured significant funding into its space efforts, and in 2019 became the first country to send an un-crewed rover(登月车) to the far side of the Moon. For its part, China says it is open to foreign participation on its station. For example, on the outside of the station, there is an Indian-developed telescopic spectrograph to study ultraviolet emissions coming from deep space. And in the long term, there probably also will be visits to the station by non-Chinese citizens.
At Wednesday’s press conference, Ji Qiming, an assistant director with China’s human spaceflight agency, said: “We welcome co-operation in this regard.” “It is believed that soon after the completion of the Chinese space station, we will see Chinese and foreign astronauts fly and work together,” he added.
    12. What is the chief goal of the three-man crew?
    A. Testing a variety of new technologies.
    B. Spending three months aboard the Tianhe module.
    C. Putting the Tianhe module into operation.
    D. Displaying China’s rising confidence and capability.
    13. What would the Chinese public think of the launch of Shenzhou- 12?
    A. Mind-blowing. B. Heart-breaking.
    C. Energy-consuming. D. Labor-saving.
    14. Why is “an Indian-developed telescopic spectrograph” mentioned in paragraph 4?
    A. To show China’s stand on international cooperation.
    B. To make clear the presence of non-Chinese visitors.
    C. To praise India’s advanced aerospace technologies.
    D. To compare China and India at the technical level.
    15. What is the main topic of this news report on the China space station?
    A. The efforts put on space exploration.

    B. The detailed plan of the three-month mission.
C The welcome for foreign involvement.
    .
    D. The delivery of the first crew to Tianhe module.
