“Excuse me, I need to get these,” I said, holding up my list.
She looked up and said, “I’m Miss. Bee. I think you need to go and get them by yourself.” Miss Bee pointed to a sign “There’s no one here except you and me and I’m not your servant, so get yourself a basket and get all you want by yourself.”
I visited Miss Bee a couple of times that summer. Sometimes she shortchanged(少找零钱) me. Other times she overcharged. Going to the store was like going into battle (战斗). All summer long she found ways to trip me up. No sooner had I learned how to pronounce “bicarbonate of soda (小苏打)” and memorized its position on the shelf (货架), than Miss Bee changed the order of things and made me look for it all over again. But by the end of the summer, the shopping trip that had once taken me an hour was done in 15 minutes.
The morning I was to return home, I stopped in to get a packet of candy.
“All right, little girl,” she said. “What did you learn this summer?”
“That you’re bad!” I replied.
Miss Bee just laughed and said, “I know what you think of me. Well, I don’t care! My job is to teach every child I meet life lessons. When you get older, you’ll be glad our paths crossed!”
Glad I met Miss Bee? Ha! The idea was funny!
Until one day, my daughter came to me with homework problems. “It’s too hard,” she said. “Could you finish my math problems for me?”
“If I do it for you, how will you ever learn to do it yourself?” I said. Suddenly, I was back at that store where I had learned the hard way to add up my money by myself. Had I ever been overcharged since then?

①Chinese traditional paper cutting is an art of cutting out pictures from paper with the help of a pair of scissors or a knife. In 2009, the Chinese paper cutting was added to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (人类非物质文化遗产代表作名录).
②Paper cutting originated (起源) in China, which is thought to have begun in the 4th century with the invention of paper. But long before that, when paper wasn’t invented, Chinese people already used similar skills to cut on leaves, leather and silk. So it’s really a long art form that has been practiced in China through many centuries.
③The subjects of the paper cuttings can be anything, from historical events and fairy tale characters to plants and animals. The paper cuttings are so lively that they look like real ones. Paper cutting may sound easy, but actually it’s difficult to do well.
④Modern Chinese artists have never stopped trying in different ways. Li Baofeng is a 54-year-old folk artist. “Traditional paper cuttings are often made with red paper, which seems to be a little boring. So I want to make something new,” says Li. She has made works in different colors which have amazing effects.
⑤By combining the techniques of traditional paper cutting with modern computer-designing, artists today can produce 3D paper cuttings. They also use more techniques such as chromatic printing (彩色印刷), woodblock printing (雕版印刷) and air brushing (喷绘) to create livelier works.
⑥Through centuries, Chinese paper cutting has also been introduced into many other countries in Asia and Europe. Now more and more people love paper cutting works and buy them as gifts for their friends.

41.Which of the followings is probably the structure of the passage?

A hungry fly speeds through a forest. It smells nectar(花蜜) and lands on a green leaf. It starts to drink the sweet liquid. Suddenly, the fly’s world turns green. The two sides of the leaf close against each other. Long green teeth lock together around it. The fly has been caught by a Venus flytrap (食蝇草). There is no escape (逃脱).
Unlike most plants, the Venus flytrap is carnivorous, which means it eats meat. And it is perhaps the most famous killer plant. However, scientists have wondered for a long time how it hunts and eats. Only until recently did they start to find it out: After years of study, plant scientist Alexander Volkov believes he now knows the Venus flytrap’s secret. “This,” says Volkov, “is an electrical plant.”
There are three small hairs along each of the Venus flytrap’s two leaves. When an insect touches a hair, it creates an electrical sign in the leaf. The insect can keep on feeding—-for now. But if it touches another hair within 20 seconds, the plant will take action, shutting its famous trap. The bristles (硬毛) on the edges of the leaves work like jail bars to prevent insects from making an escape. This system allows the plant to tell the difference between a drop of water, for example, and a living thing. And that probably keeps the plant from wasting time on raindrops or other things that aren’t its food.
Once caught, an insect has little chance of being alive. The Venus flytrap now lets out a different liquid-one that slowly eats away at the insect. Ten days later, the plant’s leaves open again and the parts of the insect that couldn’t be digested (消化) fall out. The Venus flytrap is ready for its next meal.
This is just one of the interesting biological peculiarities (特性) of the Venus flytrap, scientists are still working hard to explore more about this mysterious plant.
