    1.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
One experience stays fresh in my memory all the time. It was my summer vacation of fifty years ago. And I was spending my summer vacation at the house of my cousin, Jim, who lived in a village. Beside the village, there was a forest. My other cousins also came with me to spend their summer vacation.
It was a dark and a little bit cool evening. One of my cousins suggested we go outside to watch the stars; we all nodded excitedly. Then, we told our wish to Jim’s parents, who agreed but warned us to return home before 9 p.m. And they gave Jim a watch, telling him to pay attention to the time. It was just 7:30 p.m.
Wishing to have a fun journey outdoors, we happily set off, and started from the fields, each with a flashlight in hand. At first we just wanted to go around and appreciate the beautiful sky decorated with many stars. But later we decided to go further. All we thought about was walking and talking. We ignored the most important thing--a big forest was beyond the village.
It was unfortunate that we went into the forest and got lost. When we found we were lost, it was too late to find the original way back to the village. We were all scared. There were terrible wolves and wild pigs hanging around in the forest at night. What if we came across one? How much we hoped we could meet a hunter who could lead us home!
I took hold of Jim’s hand firmly (牢固地). The strong wind blew against my face all the time. It whispered through the trees. What was worse, the fog arose and quickly became thick. It made us lose the sense of direction totally. We stopped walking, not knowing which way to go next. Terrible fear came to my mind and made my body shake out of control.
But we didn’t want to just stay there and wait for death. We decided to make our way out of the forest.

    2.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I was still hoping Goldie might come back. But it was the day after the race and there was no sign of her. I was sitting in Grandad’s garden, staring into the sky.
“Come on, Goldie, come on, Goldie.”
Sometimes racing pigeons turned up days after a race. They got lost, or hit bad weather. But that never happened to Goldie. She always came home, right on time.
I had known Goldie ever since she was an egg. I had known her since she was a pink baby pigeon. I helped Grandad look after her. I had held her in my hands after a race and felt her little heart beating. She was beautiful. She had got shiny green and blue feathers on her neck.
“Come on, Goldie.” I couldn’t stop saying that. I had been whispering it ever since I woke up. But it wasn’t working. It wasn’t bringing Goldie back.
What was I going to do? I wanted my Grandad to get better. I wanted him to come out of hospital. But when he came out, he’d come straight to his pigeon cage to see Goldie. “Where’s my champion racer?” he’d ask me.
Suddenly I got a sick feeling in my stomach. I remembered what Grandad had said about the falcons (老鹰) in the old quarry (采石场). I hated those falcons. They probably killed Goldie. I could feel myself getting really angry. My fists were bunched up. Now I knew exactly what to do.
It only took five minutes to run to the old quarry. My chest was burning when I got there and I was gasping for breath but I didn’t stop. I slid down through the trees to the quarry floor.
I wanted to get those falcons. I wanted revenge (复仇), for Goldie. I wanted to be able to tell Grandad, “Take it easy, Grandad. You don’t have to worry any more. I’ve taken care of those falcons for you!”
But I couldn’t see any falcons. Where was their nest? I looked around the quarry walls. That must be it. It was on the deepest side of the quarry.
“I’ll get you, falcons!” I shouted to the nest. My hands were bleeding. But I didn’t feel the pain. Finally I was there.
    注意:
    1. 续写词数应为80-100词;

Then, this morning, Mum said to both me and Goldie, “Grandad’s coming home.” _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
    3.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When we lived on a farm, a black-and-white Border Collie mix showed up at our gate one day. My young son Alec fell in love with this dog instantly, and within an hour, he had named him Oreo.
Within a day, I could see how he would make a house in a mess. The great outdoors itself barely seemed enough space for him to run. When he was let out of his fence, he became a mass of black-and-white fur rushing all over the place at breakneck speed. He never seemed to be tired of running, of jumping on people, or of barking. His high energy was entertaining, but also wearing (令人疲惫的). So it was usually my husband Gary’ s job to leash (栓链子) him up for walks.
One day in late summer, Gary, Alec, and I walked with Oreo to the edge of the field and loosed the leash. He took off on his normal run across the juicy, green fields and soon disappeared over the top of a hill. My family walked on the path along the fence at a much slower pace, looking for four-leafed clovers (四叶草) when suddenly we heard barking behind us.
We turned to see two unfamiliar dogs speeding toward us, and they did not look friendly. Ears back, teeth bared, they flew toward us over the dirt path. Gary pushed Alec and me toward a tree with some low-hanging branches. “Get Alec in the tree,” he ordered as he picked up a heavy stick. Heart pounding, I lifted Alec onto a branch, and Gary squared off (摆好架势) to face the attacking dogs and give us time to get into the tree.

Mom and I spend mornings cleaning up the dirt that blows into our house. The dirt gets into everything. It covers our clothes. We have to wash the dishes before each meal. We rarely drive our car because Dad fears the dust from the road will ruin the motor.
When my sister, Faye, and I walk to school, we wear scarfs over our mouths so we don’t breathe in the dirt. On days when the air is so bad that they close the school, we stay home and help Mom put wet sheets over the windows. But the dirt always finds a way in.
Last Sunday, there was no dirt in the air, only bright spring sunshine and a clear blue sky. After lunch, Dad headed out to the field to check on the cattle. Faye and I played in the yard. The temperature suddenly dropped.
Then Mom shouted from the house, “Iris, you and Faye get inside, quickly now!” I looked to the west and saw a huge black cloud of dust. All the birds flew away. “Faye, go with Mom!” I shouted. “I’ll warn Dad.”
Faye dashed to the house. The storm hit so fast; I hardly saw her climb the porch steps. Fine sand hit my face and the day turned into night immediately. I stumbled (跌跌撞撞地走) over our bicycles left carelessly in the yard. I screamed for Dad, hoping my voice would lead him back.
The dirt and sand stung (刺) my skin like a thousand bees. I needed to get to shelter. Covering my face with one hand, I found my way to the car and opened the door. Dirt flew in with me as I pulled the door closed. Dad was still out there! I needed to help him find our car.
I found the switch (开关) for the front lights. They gave out some light, but would it be enough for Dad to see them in the thick darkness? I pushed the horn (喇叭) again and again, hoping Dad would hear it. I pushed until I had no more strength in my arms.

Another term had started and I had to attend the first lecture of the new course. The lecturer told us to make groups of two students for a project. I looked to the right and there was my classmate Jack sitting there. And I decided myself that he would be my group member. On the left side, there was an older woman who was from an open university. We talked about the project and decided to make a group of three. During the break, she told me that, last year, she didn’t manage to pass the course, so she would try again.
Later we got an email from our lecturer saying it was not allowed to make groups of three students. The old lady then tried to find some groups, but failed. I knew she wouldn’t find other groups, so I told her that we could do the project together. I had to say good bye to Jack.
After many meetings, we finished the project. In the last meeting, I told her I had difficulty in finding a summer job. I was living in a small town and there weren’t many jobs available and neither had I any previous experience. She advised me to keep doing it, as one would finally answer someday. She then thanked me for helping her and before leaving she said “see you”.
Two weeks later, I got an email from a company saying they had received my job application and decided to call me for a job interview. I appeared for the interview and answered the questions interviewers raised. In the end, they asked me where I had learned about the open job position. In fact, I had no idea so I told them I didn’t remember well. They called me three days later and told me I could start in May. That would be the first time I would be working as a software engineer and I couldn’t describe what I felt like.

“Nine-eighty-four for a urgency call please. You are heading to Maroubra for a child of unknown age, address to follow, over.” Must be a big job, I thought as I moved quickly to the radio. I sat in the front seat of the ambulance and took the microphone. My heart jumped. The possibilities of a young child surviving falling from a height were low at best. Then I gestured to the driver that we would have to head off.
“Take a left here,” my partner Amanda said. “The second street on your left is a lane way.” The driver threw the ambulance around the corner and saw a man waving his hands. He indicated that we should head down the lane way. Then I saw a woman with her arms in the air. There were people along three blocks leading to the address, signaling us in. It had now been nine minutes since we received the call and we travelled about 15 kilometers. It was a miracle(奇迹) that we got here so quickly.
The driver came to a sudden stop beside the crowd. Amanda and I got off the ambulance immediately. I saw a boy lying on the grass beside the footpath. The boy’s face was white and looked dead. A woman standing behind the boy was his mother. I could see the wide-eyed scare on her face. There must be 15 people standing silently around. All eyes were glued to us as we approached.
I saw a young man going down on his knees and performing external cardiac massage(体外心脏按摩) on the boy. Later I learned that the young man was a medical student. “Two, three, four, five,” he counted as he pressed the small chest—but a failed attempt. There was no sign of life. “Let me try,” Amanda said, giving the boy mouth-to-mouth resuscitation(复苏) and heart massage. About two minutes later, there were signs of life and the cardiac monitor showed the heart had electrical activity. I took a big breath in and out.
Para. l: We immediately put the boy in the ambulance.

Para.2: We met the boy six weeks later.

    7.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I had stopped at the Swindon services (服务区) while on my way back to London. As I drove up the slip road, I spotted a man with a backpack and his thumb (拇指) out. I pulled over and lowered the window.
“Which way are you heading?” I asked. “I’m going back to London.”
“Ah, that would be grand,”   came his immediate reply. He opened the door and lifted his backpack on to the back seat. “I’m Brendan,” he said with an easy smile and a rich Irish (爱尔兰) tongue. “I was getting a bit desperate. I’ve had my thumb out for a day and half. Nobody seems to stop these days.”
“I haven’t eaten in days,” said Brendan. “I’m trying to get home.”
I’ve always enjoyed picking up hitchhikers. I used to be a motoring journalist and crossed the country in various test cars. Picking up a hiker always made me feel a little less guilty about all the miles I was doing.
As we headed east along the motorway, Brendan told me how he came to be waiting for a lift on that particular evening, and also about the two recent family tragedies (悲剧) that had ruined him and pushed him out of his old life and on to the road.
Brendan told me that he was 52. He laughed a lot and enjoyed his off-grid (不入网的) lifestyle. Until last week, that is, when he’d been mugged (抢劫).
“Three young men in Birmingham took my other pack and it had all my money in it. I’ve been sleeping out since then. I haven’t eaten in days. I’m hoping to get some casual work in London, so I can then get myself home to Ireland.”
It must have been the concept of home that got me, and helping a man who’d clearly had a tough time seemed like the right thing to do.

On Saturday, we gathered  at the hall to witness the  award ceremony for the senior scouts(童子军). Receiving an award on such a day was a great honor for any scout, and all desired to be the scout selected to give the summary of the year’s activities for the association.
I was not the one selected to give the summary and for that, I was grateful. I could hardly stand in front of a large crowd to make a speech, but Sean could. He was selected to do the honor because he was the President of the Boy Scouts. My job was much simpler. Being the Vice-President, I was very much behind the scenes, content to ensure that everything was in smooth running order.
It was an hour to go before the ceremony began, and I had put the finishing touches to the stage. Walking down the stage, I saw my teammates in a state of panic(恐慌).When they saw me, they ran to me to tell me that Sean met with a traffic accident and would not make it to the award ceremony. Someone else had to give the summary. All of them looked hopefully at me, and I could feel my knees beginning to collapse.
All their arguments against my unwillingness were reasonable. I had a copy of the speech as well as the benefit of having seen Sean rehearse(排练)it. I was the Vice-President and therefore should take his place. Finally, I was firmly told not to turn it down any longer and they said that they were convinced that I would do the right thing. I sank down onto the floor, totally shocked by the situation.
I knew I was not a confident speaker, and the thought of presenting a summary in front of so many distinguished guests horrified me. To think that the fame of the scouts would take a beating because of me! The burden of responsibility troubled me greatly.
But there was really no way out of the situation. In the end, I quickly rehearsed the speech and got ready to go on stage for the presentation. I looked calm, but inside I was a trembling. Although they kept encouraging me, I still felt very worried that my poor performance would cost us the opportunity to win an award. Soon after, I was called to do the presentation. Having butterflies in my stomach, I walked onto the stage.
    注意:
    1.续写词数应为80到100词;

When I left the office for a news assignment that early summer evening, I had absolutely no idea what life held in store for me.
As a young photographer, I was on my way back from a photo shoot. I had shot rolls of films featuring beautiful scenery and scenes of daily life in the countryside. What a fulfilling day! Now what 1 needed was a hot bath and a good rest. 1 couldn’t wait to return home. On the country road, with my camera bag containing my equipment and a phonebook on my back, I rode my motorbike so merrily that all the tiredness disappeared instantly. Suddenly, a big rock hit me from nowhere. All I knew was 1 was no longer on my motorbike.
I was thrown away from my bike and hit the road. Before I lost consciousness, I saw all my things scattered (分散的), my helmet (头盔) lying at a distance. Hours, maybe days later, I opened my eyes. 1 realized I was on a hospital bed and later learnt that I had been shifted to the ward after7 days in the ICU. The crash was so severe that my head had been injured seriously, leading to other terrible conditions. Although I survived, there were a series of surgeries needed before I could fully recover—a reconstruction of the knees, my broken right wrist to be fixed and an operation on my nose.
I had no relatives in Delhi as I lived alone. After my accident, some warm-hearted strangers donated blood and resources to help me survive, which made me really touched. But every time I tried to piece together that horrible Tuesday, I felt like there remained some missing puzzles. Who discovered and saved me? How was I sent to the hospital? Where can I find my hero? Such questions bothered me until one day Amy, who was the first to learn of my accident came to see me when visits were allowed.

Reflections of Hope in the Snowstorm
As Christmas drew near, my husband Keith, a student at Utah State University, and I felt a growing desire to get together with my parents in Northern California, which is 800 miles away from where we lived here in Utah. Yet, we couldn’t afford the long trip. Then arrived a most unexpected gift in a Christmas card: enough money for gas for the drive home. We were so excited. Keith took time off from his part-time job and we packed the car. With a good wish for safety and travelling conditions, we hit the road.
We drove all the way to the west coast of California. Everything went well and we finally made it to my childhood home. As Keith honked the horn to signal our arrival, my family rushed out to greet us, welcoming us with love and Christmas cheer. We celebrated Christmas together again for the first time in three years. My family rejoiced (欣喜) when we announced that we were expecting our second child in the spring.
All too soon, the time came for us to return. With tears and hugs, we started on our way. We had intended to drive to Keith’s parents’ home in Bountiful that night, where we could take a good rest. But the weather conditions started worsening toward evening. Frantic flurries of snow swirled (盘旋) wildly. We stopped and fueled up the car with the money given by my parents. We did not even consider staying overnight in a motel for the very little cash. When we drove into the darkening night, big snowflakes patted against our windshield. Keith was having trouble seeing the road, as the headlights seemed dim (模糊的). He pulled over, and got out to brush the snow away from them. That was when he found we had only one headlight on.
We had no choice but to head slowly out onto the nearly deserted freeway. Our car bravely struggled through the snowy darkness. We desperately tried to keep our eyes on the white line in the road, but it was disappearing quickly in the piling snow. We seemed to be all alone on that dark stretch of freeway. There was no traffic in either direction, and the visibility was near zero.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a semi-truck (半拖车) passed by.

1.Then, we started walking again. Not speaking a single word, we silently and quietly moved towards the unknown world. With each holding a big stick, we opened our eyes wide, observing whether there were terrible animals around. And every few minutes, we looked around at each other just to ensure none fell behind. Suddenly, I heard something moving in the bushes nearby. I was extremely nervous and my legs were shaking. Soon a wolf jumped out from the bushes, staring at us greedily.
Just when the wolf was about to attack us, a hunter appeared before us. He quickly took out his can of bear spray and fired the spray at the wolf. The wolf was scared and immediately escaped. We were saved, and breathed a big sigh of relief. We expressed thanks to the hunter who then began leading us home. Before long, we saw a lot of light from flashlights. It was the villagers, who came to look for us. We learned a big lesson that night.

2.“Got you!” I reached out my hand to sweep the nest away but I saw the baby bird, so lovely and so gentle. It was pink and helpless, flopping about in the nest. I thought of Goldie in her babyhood. How could I hurt that baby chick! So I started climbing again up back when I felt a soft, feathery bundle in a tiny crack next to me. “It’s Goldie!” I forgot about being scared. I carefully stuffed her inside my shirt and managed to drag myself up to the top. I found her legs almost broken and eyes dull. Luckily, in the following weeks she grew stronger and stronger.
Then, this morning, Mum said to both me and Goldie, “Grandad’s coming home.” Well, I was really pleased but worried too. With Goldie in my hands, I could feel her heart going pit-a-pit-a-pat. Soon, I heard Grandad coming down the garden. “My Champion racer!” cried grandad. “Let her fly,” said Grandad, stroking Goldie’s feathers. My stomach’s doing back flips. I reluctantly tossed her up into the sky. She’s flying. She flew as an arrow to join the other birds, sunshine glittering on her wings. “She’s more beautiful,” Grandad laughed. So did I.

    4.One Possible Version:
Suddenly, Dad’s face appeared at the window. My heart leaped with surprise and then relief. With a scarf covered his face, Dad promptly opened the door and climbed in. I couldn’t wait to throw myself into father’s arm, tears of joy rolling down my cheeks. “You are little angel of intelligence. But for the headlight and your constant blowing of the horn, I might not have found my way back.” Father started the car to keep warm, and there in the little shelter of the car, we both sat patiently waiting for the sandstorm to pass by.
Finally, the wind stopped and the dust began to settle. Father and I couldn’t wait to check whether Mom and Faye were OK. Back in the house, everything was covered with a thick blanket of dust. Thankfully, Mom and Faye were hidden in the cellar safe and sound. Hardly had we seen each other when we all hugged together tightly, feeling grateful for being together as a family. Unfortunately, due to the dust our car suffered a damage to the motor, but that was never important as long as our family stuck together in such seemingly never-ending disasters.

Then, after a pause, “and please don’t worry. I’ll definitely wire you the money when I get home.” I pulled onto the airport avenue and soon dropped him off outside the terminal building. I went to a cash point, got out 10 shiny new 20 notes and handed them over. He took the money and thanked me again and again.
