    An 80­year­ld man was sitting n the sfa in his huse alng with his 45­year­ld highly educated sn. Suddenly a crw perched (栖息) n their windw.
    The father asked his sn, “What is this?” The sn replied, “It is a crw.” After a few minutes, the father asked his sn fr the secnd time, “What is this?” The sn said, “Father, I have just nw tld yu that it's a crw!”
    After a little while, the ld father again asked his sn fr the third time, “What is this?”
    At this time sme expressin f irritatin (恼怒) was felt in the sn's tne when he said t his father with a rebuff (生硬回绝), “It's a crw, a crw.” A little while later, the father again asked his sn the furth time, “What is this?”[悬念1]
    This time, the sn shuted at his father, “Why d yu keep asking me the same questin again and again, althugh I have tld yu s many times ‘IT IS A CROW’? Are yu nt able t understand this?”
    A little while later the father went t his rm and came back with an ld tattered (发皱的) diary, which he had maintained since his sn was brn.
    On pening a page, he asked his sn t read that page.
    When the sn read it, the fllwing wrds were written in the diary:[悬念2]
    Tday my little sn aged three was sitting with me n the sfa when a crw was sitting n the windw. My sn asked me 23 times what it was, and I replied t him all 23 times that it was a crw. I hugged him lvingly each time he asked me the same questin. I did nt feel irritated at all but I rather felt affectin fr my inncent sn.

    悬念2思考:儿子读完日记后有什么感受?
    三、分析段落开头语
    段首句1思考:
    ①读完日记后儿子会哭吗?
    ②儿子会想起自己的童年旧事吗?
    ③儿子想自己要是老的时候,自己的儿子会怎么看自己?
    段首句2思考:
    ①儿子为什么羞愧地跪下?他会对父亲说些什么?
    ②儿子会联想到儿时父亲为自己所做的一切而向父亲承诺些什么吗?

    After reading the diary, the sn was filled with tears and began t reflect n the days when he sat tgether with his father. His father patiently answered the same questin all 23 times withut feeling any irritatin while his father asked him the same questin just fur times! The sn thught t himself: If I attain ld age, hw will my sn lk at me? Will he think f me as a burden? Will he shut at me because f my pr sight, pr hearing r pr understanding?
    Feeling ashamed, the sn gt dwn n his knees befre his father. He made an aplgy t his father, begging his father t frgive him fr his bad behaviur. He said this alud, “I prmise t see yu happy frever, Dad. It is yu wh have cared fr me since I was a little child, shwering yur selfless affectin n me. Yu wrked hard t make mney s that I culd affrd t g t university. I will serve yu in the best way n matter hw yu behave.”
