Spring(春季) is coming! The leaves turn green. Flowers bloom. You can see new life everywhere.

But US children get excited(激动的) for a different thing. It is time for Spring Break, or Easter Holidays. Middle school students get a week or two away from school. It’s time to relax and enjoy the spring time.

Easter(复活节) is an important festival in the US. It is always on a Sunday from March 22nd to April 25th. So Spring Break is usually in March, that’s why people also call it March Break. Easter celebrates(庆祝) the beginning of new life. An egg is a symbol of new life, so Easter egg hunt is children’s favorite game.

What do students do in Spring Break? They have many things to do! Because middle school students don’t have cars, they usually take trips with their parents or just play with friends in the neighborhoods(社区). Do you often wash your hands? Do you know how to wash your hands? Do you know October 15, 2022 is the 15th Global Handwashing Day? Why do we have a day for something we do so often?

As we all know, washing hands with soap(肥皂) can not only reduce flu(减少流感), but also stop people from getting sick and keep them healthy. But study shows that not many people wash their hands with soap. This is bad for their health, and even their lives. In many poor countries(贫困国家), people don’t wash hands very often as we think.
