M: No problem, ma’am. Where exactly are you going? There is an extra charge for anything over 20 kilometers.

W: The Roxie Club, downtown. There are six of us, though. Do you have any bigger cars, so we don’t need to take two taxis?

M: Yes, on the weekends, we do. However, [7] it’s three dollars more to have the bigger car sent your way.

W: That will be fine, and we should be well under the 20 kilometers to our destination.

M: Yes, I can see that. Would you like us to send that for you now?

W: Yes, please.

M: Hi, Tracy, [8] I am going out of town this weekend, and I was wondering if you could take care of my dog while I am gone. You know my dog, Jaws, don’t you?

W: Yeah.

M: Just feed him a kind of dog food today and make sure he has plenty of water in his dish. Oh, and he needs someone to take him for a walk around the block every afternoon.

W: Well, how about if I just throw a bone over the fence to give him some exercise?

M: No, he really needs a walk. Uhh, [9] and he likes to watch the three o’clock Superbone on Channel 4, and then you need to brush his teeth and give him doggy treats at four.

W: You must be out of your mind if you think I am going to watch your dog. [10] I wouldn’t watch that doggy even if you pay me.

W: Yes, we’ve booked one for two. The name is Morrison.

M: Oh, yes, we have the table for you near the group. This way, please.

W: Group? What group? Oh, the music group, I suppose. [12] I can’t stand the noisy places. [11] Now where’s the menu?

M: It’s on the wall, madam, on the blackboard.

W: On the blackboard, indeed. I suppose you can’t afford proper menus.

M: I’m sorry, madam, but that’s the way we always do.

W: [12] I have such a busy afternoon in my office. [12] [13] If I were not so hungry, I would leave immediately.

M: Hello, [14] welcome to our program “Today City”. I’m Larry. We’re going to Louisville Kentucky where our guest Michelle Ray comes from. She is proud of her middle-sized city with a small town feel and big city dreams. [17] Now, Michelle, tell us about your city.

W: Thank you, Larry. [17] Here is my city. Louisville is my city. The first place I take visitors from out of town is to Highland for shopping and night life. [15] When I have delicious Asian food, I always go to the Zen Garden which provides wonderful all vegetable dishes.

M: Wow, that’s interesting. Many people go for healthy food now.

W: You can say that again. If I want to go camping and fishing, I go to the Red River area. [16] For completely quiet I can hide away in my house with a good book from one of our public libraries.

M: That all sounds very exciting. I’m sure some of our listeners will include Louisville in their travel plan for their next holiday. Thank you, Michelle.

Do you love working with children? Are you looking for a summer job? Then apply to be a staff member at our summer camp! [18] We are looking for people who are enthusiastic, patient, and most importantly, have experience working with children. You can be a staff member for our first session, our second session, or both! Staff will lead games and creative activities for our campers, be with them during mealtimes. [19] Staff will make sure that campers are in bed by 9:00 o’clock p.m. so that they can be up in time for our morning hike! You will be asked to write a short essay of no more than 200 words explaining why you would be an ideal camp leader. Applications are available online beginning April 20th. [20] The deadline to apply is May 12th. Our first session begins on July 1st and the second session begins on July 20th. All staff must report to camp for two days of training before the start of each session.
