Dear Ningbo,
I can still smell the atmosphere (气息) when I arrived in 2017. “Wow! What a peaceful little town!” I thought on the taxi to my new home. Fast forward 5 years, I have found a new home and a part of me I cannot erase (抹去) forever. I never thought I would be able to adapt (适应) to a different environment as fast as I did with you. I always thought that technology connects everyone more than anything. But Ningbo, your community never fails to remind me that I belong here and this is all through human connection.
You have an open heart and desire (渴望) to respect and appreciate others, that is the amazing thing about you. In my eyes, Ningbonese are hard-working and desire to learn about other cultures, cherishing (珍惜) their own. This way people like me who are far from their friends and family can have something to relate to. Yes, we depend on technology to reach out to our families and friends back home but we have always managed to build our social lives here and that’s what keeps us going.
From having friends from school, volunteering in old age homes, travelling, joining clubs, and trying out different group activities, I have aimed to put myself out there in both the Chinese and international community here. Rather than seeing, I feel the spirit of generosity (慷慨) and friendliness that still thrives (兴盛) here even after many years. I know I cannot speak your language very well, but you and I understand each other. I hope that this short story can help encourage those younger than me not to be afraid to be active in their communities. Being active will not only increase the social connections one can develop with many people but it can also give one a sense of belonging even when you’re far away from home.
Ningbo, thank you for being a new community for me. The friendships and relationships I have developed here over the past years will remain forever in my heart. Thank you for helping me belong.

①Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have to stay indoors. Online classes and working from home mean a lot of sitting around on your butt (屁股).
②We already know that if we don’t move much, we get fatter, we get heart problems and maybe we get diabetes (糖尿病). But new studies have shown that it could hurt our mental (心理的) health, too.
③A study of 936 Brazilian adults during the pandemic found that about one-third of them sat around for more than 10 hours per day. It reported that people who sat for too long often showed more symptoms of depression (抑郁的症状).
④Another study looked at children. It found that each extra hour of sitting time at ages 12, 14 and 16 led to higher depression scores by age 18. Eighteen-year-olds who sat most often had depression scores 28 percent higher than those who were more active.

But according to Mats Hallgren from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, “Sitting for too long can slow blood flow (血液流动) in the body.” It might also affect (影响) the growth of neurons (神经细胞) in the brain. And couch potatoes might do other unhealthy things while sitting, such as snacking on junk food. All these may lead to depression.
⑥The good news? It’s easy to overcome. Aaron Kandola from University College London, UK, said “all types” of movement might help, even light activity. “It is great to exercise and play sports,” said Kandola, “But anything you can do to avoid sitting for too long will help with mood (情绪), stress and thinking clearly.” The key message is just to move more, more often.

Last year, Time chose 15-year-old scientist Gitanjali Rao as its Kid of the Year for 2020. Gitanjali was chosen from over 5,000 young kids.
Time has long been famous for its “Person of the Year”. In 2020, it decided to honor young people in the US with its first ever Kid of the Year. Time worked with the TV channel Nickelodeon to look at kids between the ages of 8 and 16 who were really making a difference, no matter how small.

Ten, nine, eight, seven … The fifth Long March 5 carrier rocket with the Chang’e 5 lunar probe (月球探测器) launched (发射) at 4:30 am on Nov. 24th, 2020.
The Chang’e 5 lunar probe plans to return with samples (样品) of the moon. The whole mission (任务) will last about 23 days, according to the China National Space Administration. If this mission is successful, Chang’e 5 will be the first lunar sample-return spacecraft since 1976, when the former Soviet Union’s unmanned Luna 24 brought 170.1 grams of lunar samples back.
As one of the most difficult missions, the Chang’e 5 mission aims to bring back a larger sample and explore a new area of the moon.
“The three unmanned lunar probes of the former Soviet Union—Lunar 16, Lunar 20 and Lunar 24—carried out three lunar samplings and return missions, and the lunar soil samples brought back were only about 330 grams, while Chang’e 5 plans to bring back 2 kilograms of lunar samples,” Pang Zhihao, a space activity researcher and author in Beijing, told Science and Technology Daily. The great increase in sample weight can play a key role in Chang’e 5’s lunar orbit unmanned docking program (月球轨道无人对接计划). With the program, the ascender (上升器) only requires a small amount of fuel (燃料), so even a heavier sampling will not influence the normal return of the spacecraft.
The best part of the journey is Chang’e 5’s lunar landing site—the northwest part of Oceanus Procellarum, also known as the Ocean of Storms—on the near side of the moon, where no probes have visited before.

Kobe Bryant, one of the most famous basketball players was killed in a helicopter crash (直升机坠毁)in California, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven other people. Do you have to wear uniforms to school every day? Do you like them or you just want to wear your own clothes? Many students just wonder why they can't wear whatever they like, for teenagers want to be different from others.

Dear Ningbo,
I can still smell the atmosphere (气息) when I arrived in 2017. “Wow! What a peaceful little town!” I thought on the taxi to my new home. The Chang’e 5 lunar probe plans to return with samples (样品) of the moon. The whole mission (任务) will last about 23 days, according to the China National Space Administration. If this mission is successful, Chang’e 5 will be the first lunar sample-return spacecraft since 1976, when the former Soviet Union’s unmanned Luna 24 brought 170.1 grams of lunar samples back.
As one of the most difficult missions, the Chang’e 5 mission aims to bring back a larger sample and explore a new area of the moon.
“The three unmanned lunar probes of the former Soviet Union—Lunar 16, Lunar 20 and Lunar 24—carried out three lunar samplings and return missions, and the lunar soil samples brought back were only about 330 grams, while Chang’e 5 plans to bring back 2 kilograms of lunar samples,” Pang Zhihao, a space activity researcher and author in Beijing, told Science and Technology Daily. The great increase in sample weight can play a key role in Chang’e 5’s lunar orbit unmanned docking program (月球轨道无人对接计划). With the program, the ascender (上升器) only requires a small amount of fuel (燃料), so even a heavier sampling will not influence the normal return of the spacecraft.
The best part of the journey is Chang’e 5’s lunar landing site—the northwest part of Oceanus Procellarum, also known as the Ocean of Storms—on the near side of the moon, where no probes have visited before.
