It has been nearly tw years since the Cvid-19 pandemic changed the ways schls were run. Take the case f 55-year-ld Ellen Humphries, a cllege prfessr wh is being seen fr abdminal (腹部的)pain. After an exam, students and prfessrs discuss hw t treat smene like Ellen, wh is educated, well-knwn in the cmmunity, and wh isn’t willing t stick t medical recmmendatins.

M: Clara Bartn was brn n December 25th, 1821. ⑰When the Civil War began in 1861, she heard f stries f wunded sldiers. She felt she needed t d smething t help them, sshe urged peple t dnate bandages and medicine and delivered these supplies t the battlefield. Clara didn’t stp helping when the war was ver. ⑱She led a grup t search fr missing sldiers. This grup als wrked t identify sldiers killed r missing. After fur years f this wrk, ⑲Clara mved t Switzerland, where she first learned abut a grup called the Red Crss. This grup wrked t help peple wh were suffering during times f war. In 1873, Clara returned t the United States. In 1881 she started an American branch f the Red Crss. ⑳She served as its first president fr ver 20 years. As the result f Clara’s hard wrk and leadership, the Red Crss grew. Tday, it als helps peple suffering as a result f earthquakes, fires, flds, and ther disasters. Clara Bartn died n April 12, 1912, but her great cntributin, the American Red Crss, lives n.
