Recently,I came acrss an interesting article n the differences between British English and American English. I had a lt f fun reading it and thinking f as many differences as I culd as an American.
Their cars have “bnnets(发动机罩)”, while urselves have “hds”. They park their cars in a “car park” while we leave urs in a “parking lt”. Our “ckies” are their “biscuits”, while their “rubbers” are ur “erasers”.
Then there are the fd wrds. Wuld yu want t eat smething called “Tad in the Hle” r “Bangers and Mash” r “Sptted Dick”? I’m here t reprt they are all very tasty. There are American equivalents(相等物),f curse. We’ve gt “Shfly Pie”, “Chicken Fried Steak” and “Mississippi Mud Pie”. What they call “crisps” is what we call “ptat chips” and when we ask fr “chips” in England we will get what we knw at hme in America as “French fries”.
They find it hysterical that we call the “tilet” the “bathrm” and they really duble ver(弯腰) with laughter when we ask fr the “restrm”. American ladies in England wh ask fr the “little girl’s rm” r the “pwder rm” will be met with blank stares. A “fag” is a “cigarette” in the UK, which can lead t endless cnfusin fr British visitrs lking fr a cigarette in America. Americans n the ther hand are endlessly cnfused by English signs put up ver drways saying “Way Out”. We Americans walk n the sidewalk nt the pavement. “Pavement” in America is the actual cement(水泥) the sidewalk is made f.

Can dgs and cats live in perfect harmny in the same hme? Peple wh are thinking abut adpting a dg as a friend fr their cats are wrried that they will fight. A recent research has fund a new recipe f success. Accrding t the study, if the cat is adpted befre the dg, and if they are intrduced when still yung (less than 6 mnths fr cats, a year fr dgs), it is highly prbable that the tw pets will get alng swimmingly. In hmes with cats and dgs living peacefully, researchers bserved a surprising behaviur. They are learning hw t talk each ther’s language. It is a surprise that cats can learn hw t talk ‘dg’, and dgs can learn hw t talk ‘Cat’.

Once familiar with each ther’s presence and bdy language, cats and dgs can play tgether, greet each ther nse t nse, and enjy sleeping tgether n the sfa. They can easily share the same water bwl and in sme cases grm (梳理) each ther.
The significance f the research n cats and dgs may g beynd pets-t peple wh dn’t get alng, including neighbrs, clleagues at wrk, and even wrld superpwers. If cats and dgs can learn t get alng, surely peple have a gd chance.
