What subject do you worry about the most at school? Many students worry about math. Some students can’t sleep well the day before a math exam. Others may feel very nervous(紧张) during the exam itself. But there might be a way to make the subject more relaxing.
“For people who are worried about math, posture makes a big difference.” Erik Paper from San Francisco State University told The Daily Mail. That’s right — sitting up straight can help you do better on math exams.
Scientists tested 125 college students. They asked them to do a simple math exam while sitting in a slumped-over(趴倒的) posture, or sitting up straight. After the test, 56 percent of students said the exam was easier to do when they were sitting up straight.
Slumping over is a defensive(防卫的) posture. It can bring about bad memories in the body and brain. This can stop you from thinking clearly, Paper said.
Students who were not nervous about taking the math exam did not necessarily benefit(受益) from better posture. But they did find that doing math while slumped over was more difficult, Science Daily reported.
Good posture isn’t just helpful for taking math exams. Sportspeople, musicians and public speakers can all benefit from better posture. When you feel worried, you can also try to sit up straight or stand tall. It can help you feel more certain and focus better.

Today, pizza is one of the world’s favorite foods. All over the world, people make different pizzas. But where does pizza come from? And who made the first one?
The First Pizza
People have been making pizza for a very long time. In the Stone Age(石器时代), a very early time in human history when people used things made of stone, some people mixed flour(面粉) with water to make dough(面团). Then they cooked it on hot stone. Over time, people started using the cooked dough as a plate, covering it with other foods to add taste. They had made the world’s first pizza.
New Ingredient
Then — in the early 1500s — European explorers brought the first tomatoes back from America. Tomatoes are a basic(基础的) ingredient in many pizzas today. At first, however, most Europeans thought eating tomatoes would make them ill. So, for about 200 years, few people ate them. Slowly, people learnt that tomatoes were safe to eat and tasty, too. In the early l9th century, cooks in Naples, Italy, started the tradition of putting tomatoes on pizza. In l830, a cook in Naples took another big step in the history of pizza — he opened the world’s first pizza restaurant.
