    77. 考察原文词。线索对应原文第三段第二行“40 yuan that you earn yourself feels a lot better than 160 yuan from your parents.”, feel a lot better,即 feel much better。且 make sb. do sth. 所以填动词原形 feel。

In our daily life many people always have negative(消极的) thoughts. Being in a negative space is harmful to our life and study. If you keep them in mind, you will lose hope sooner or later. Let’s drive away some of the most common negative thoughts.
    No one cares about me.
Sometimes you say that your family and friends don’t care about you. Maybe you’re being too negative and misunderstand the gestures of love they show you. They don’t even have to be big gestures, but there are many countless little things they do for you. Maybe you just pay no attention to them and take them as granted. Perhaps you think they don’t care about you so you don’t make any effort in your relationships. Start showing people you care, so they can show you back in the same way. And if you don’t have good relationships with the people you know, what’s stopping you from making new friends?
    Why is she better off?
Comparing yourself to someone else is never positive. There’s always going to be someone who is younger, prettier, smarter, or richer than you. If you keep admiring what someone else has, then this may cause you to lose the balance in your mind, which will open a whole other negative can of worms. Remember, what they don’t have is your whole package. Be proud of what you have, because if you want to play the comparison game, remember that there are people who are also worse off than you are.
    I’ll never reach my goal.
If you think you’re not going to be able to“get there”, think again. There are many people who are worse off and have overcome more difficulty than what you are facing.
Everything is within your reach as long as you work hard and have a a positive attitude.

Do pretty school uniforms lead to early romance?
A technical secondary school in Nanjing planned to order Korean-style school uniforms for students, but parents didn’t agree because they believed that the new uniforms looked too good and would encourage early romances among the students.
    Parents
“My daughter was so excited about the Korean-style uniform, saying it’s her dream to wear mini-skirt to school every day,” a mom complained. “Girls also talk about how handsome the boys looked in the uniform! If the students wear such beautiful uniforms, how can they study well? I prefer the sports wear which makes me think of health and positive(积极的) thinking.”
    Students
The students are sorry about the school’s final decision. They think the sports wear uniforms make them look androgynous (难分性别).
They said the Korean-style uniform has many advantages such as raising interest in class and lifting confidence. It is also considered to be a good way to develop their sense of pride for the school and help then create good temperaments(气质).
As for romance, the students believe that love is love and has nothing to do with the uniform.
    School
“The plan to change the school uniform from sports wear has been cancelled,” Mr Lin, a teacher, told the interviewer.
“The students dislike the present uniform, most of the students prefer Korean style school uniforms. We know cities like Shanghai and Guangzhou have changed their sports wear school uniforms to more fashionable uniforms. However, we had to stop the plan because many parents are strongly against it. Some parents think it’s just a way for the school to make money, and others think the new uniforms will take students’ attention away from their studies,” Lin said.
When asked about the problems with early romance between students because of the more fashionable uniforms, Lin said he hadn’t considered it. He, however, agreed that the Korean-style uniform makes the students more attractive.
    Education department
“We don’t have a unified (统一的) standard for school uniforms. The schools can choose their own styles. Either sports wear or uniforms are OK,” an official said.

    Dear Seth,
You’re only three years old, and at this point in your life you can’t read, much less understand what I’ll tell you in this letter. But I’ve thought a lot about the life that you have ahead of you, and about my role as a dad in trying to prepare you for the difficulties that you’ll face.
I hope to help you along your path by sharing some of the best of what I’ve learned. As with any advice, take it with a grain of salt. What works for me might not work for you.
    Life can be unkind
There will be people in your life who won’t be very nice. They’ll laugh at you or try to hurt you because you’re different. There’s not much you can do about these people except to learn to deal with them, and learn to choose friends who are kind to you and who make you feel good about yourself. When you find friends like this treasure them, spend time with them and love them.
    Be open to life anyway
Yes, you’ll find unkindness and pain in your journey through life, but don’t let that close you to new things. Don’t move back from life, don’t hide or wall yourself off. Be open to new things, new experiences, new people.
    Life isn’t a competition
You will meet many people who will try to do better than you, in school, in college, at work. To them life is a competition. But here’s the secret: life isn’t a competition. It’s a journey. Learn to enjoy the journey and make it a journey of happiness, of continual improvement, of love.
    Love should be your rule
If there’s a single word you should live your life by, it should be this: love. It might sound out of date I know, but trust me, there’s no better rule in life. Love not only your loved ones, but your neighbors, your co-workers, strangers, even your enemy. The person who is hardest on you, unkind to you..., love him. He is most in need of your love. And most of all, love yourself and learn to love yourself for who you are.
Finally, know that I love you and always will. You are starting out on an unknown, tiring, scary, but badly wonderful journey, and always remember I will be there for you when I can.

    七、任务型阅读(根据短文内容填空,每小题1分,共10分)
The Chinese are very generous when it comes to educating their children. Some parents send their children to the best schools or even abroad to England,  the US or Australia,
regardless of how much this costs.  Many also want their children to take extracurriculum (课外的) activities where they either learn a musical instrument(乐器) or ballet,  or other classes that will give them a head start in life. The Chinese believe that the more expensive an education is,  the better it is,  so parents often spend unreasonable amount of money on education. Even poor couples buy a computer for their son or daughter.
However,  what most parents fail to see is that the best education they can give their children is usually very cheap. Parents can see that their children's skills vary;  they will usually be skilled in some areas while poor in others. What most parents fail to realize though,  is that today's children lack (缺乏)selfrespect and selfconfidence.
The problem is that parents are only educating their children on how to take multiplechoice tests and how to study effectively. They are not teaching them the most important skills they need to be confident,  happy and clever.
Parents can help achieve this by teaching their children practical skills like cooking,  sewing and other housework.
Teaching a child to cook will improve many of the skills that he will need later in life. Cooking demands patience and time. It is an enjoyable but difficult experience. A good cook always tries to improve his cooking,  so he will learn to work hard and gradually finish his job successfully. The result,  a wellcooked dinner,  will give a child a lot of satisfaction and confidence.
An old machine such as a broken radio or TV set that you give your child as a toy may make him curious and arouse his interest. If he will spend hours looking at it,  and try to mend it,  your child might become an engineer when he grows up. Such activities do more than teach a child to read a book;  but rather they teach them to think,  and to use their minds. This is much more important than learning by reading a book.
