In 1920, Walt Disney moved to Kansas City and worked at the Kansas City Film Ad Company. There he became interested in animation and started to experiment with his stories. Soon he opened up his own animation business. Later, Disney and his employee, Fred Harman, made a deal with a Kansas City theater to screen their cartoons. They were very popular, and Disney used the profits he made to start his own studio. Afterwards, he expanded his business, but, by 1923had to declare bankruptcy (破产).

Moving to Hollywood with his brother Roy, they started the Disney Brothers Studiowhich later became The Walt Disney Company — to produce films. From there, they were on their way up. They made the character Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and, soon after, created Mickey Mouse and associated characters, with the first successful Mickey Mouse film being a short called “Steamboat Willie”.

After some setbacks (挫折)such as the character of Oswald having its rights stolen by his distributors, Disney soon found himself and his studio well on their way to great success. From there, Disney went on to create hundreds of movies, as well as Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida.

Walt Disney’s story is a great inspirational story. It’s about a man who had a dream and put his entire effort into making it happen. Whenever there were setbacks, Disney kept going to make his dream come alive.

Technology is shaping many different areas of the world. One area that has been greatly changed by the advances of technology itself is the stock (股票)market. There are several ways how technology has changed and shaped the present state of the market, and also the future direction.

Apps like RobinHood Trading has made it easier than ever to access stock market trading. Driven by technology, they are able to operate with less cost, seeing a significant reduction in fees. These fees often make casual traders be turned off the idea of the stock market, as low amounts they warn to invest (投资)will not be worthwhile after paying varieties of fees to most companies. This has seen a new type of trader, with a lower amount of wealth, be able to effectively make use of the market.

The speed of buying and selling is now faster than ever. Traditionally trades were done by shouting from one human to another, then through telephones and now the internet. With faster transactions, more trades are occurring, and when market changes are occurring, investors can react quicker than ever. Quicker reaction to new information will mean that the market is constantly changing faster than ever.

Due to the rise of the Internet, information allowing people to make an informed decision is easier than ever to get. Instead of relying on other peopled recommendations and analysis, it is extremely easy to access company reports and see for yourself whether or not it would be a good investment. The information is now more in-depth as well, as technology is able to analyze company data in a more detailed and scientific way to allow you to form a more educated opinion. Many companies provide real time data on the stock markets, allowing you to see completely up- to-date information and see the start of any potential trends allowing you to take advantage of the changing market.

    24. According to the text, the stock market has been changed in the following aspects except _____________.

    A. better investment                       B. faster transactions

    C. more in-depth information                D. easier access to trading

    25. How does paragraph 3 develop?

    A. By referring to a study.

    B. By telling stories.

    C. By making comparisons.

    D. By giving examples.

    26. What does the text mainly talk about?

    A. What advantages the Internet has brought about.

    B. What future changes will be caused by technology.

    C. How modem applications have shaped stock market.

    D. How technology has influenced the present stock market.

When a global pandemic affects people’s activitieswe have fewer chances to experience nature. So the hope is that an access-for-all and interactive project can reconnect us to nature.

BBC’s Soundscapes for Wellbeing is designed to offer people a way to enter the natural world at home. Listeners have been given access to a huge sound effects digital archive (档案)一33,000 sounds with I7,000 new nature sounds to download—and use of an online mixer tool to make and share their own soundscapes.

The BBC’s Natural History Unit is the source for nature sounds in the effects archive. One of its secrets is that most videos for television are shot without sound and then carefully recorded audio is added to them. Everything from bird-of-paradise calls and giraffes feeding on acacia trees to wind blowing across the Sahara desert has been captured (捕捉)in sound recordings.

Another part of the project is the Virtual Nature Experiment, which pairs award-winning sound recordist Chris Watson and composer Nainita Desai with the University of Exeter to explore emotional responses to digital nature content. Audiences take part in a 10-minute-experiment, which includes watching video and answering a series of questions to help scientists discover how best to digitally bring the benefits of nature to people indoors.

People living in cities often struggle to access green space and lockdown measures across the world make that harder. Studies show the risks related with not being able to use outdoor spaces include stress, anxiety and other mental disorders, but also physical conditions like obesity and heart disease.

When people have trees and other vegetation near their homes, they report a greater sense of wellbeing and more satisfaction with where they live, according to the American Public Health Association. Green spaces also provide benefits such as better air quality, lowered flood risk, habitat for wildlife and plants, and community spaces where people can meet and exercise.

    27. What ’ s the purpose of BBC’s Soundscapes for Wellbeing?

    A. To shoot videos for television.

    B. To offer digital nature sound effects.

    C. To reconnect people indoors to nature.

    D. To help people make their own sounds.

    28. What does the underlined word “that” refer to in paragraph 5?

    A. Living in the city.            B. Outdoor exercise.

    C. Access to nature.             D. Scientific study.

    29. What can be a suitable title for. the text?

    D. Getting Benefits from Digital Nature
