With only a click of the mouse, rumors(谣言)can be forwarded between micro- blogs(微博)very quickly. As an example, recently, sensitive netizens discovered that some photos displayed on microblogs describing Beijing’s June rainstorm had actually been fabricated(伪造).
Sina.com is one of the major Internet portals (入口)in China with hundreds and thousands of users, and a majority of celebrities and famous citizens have their microblog accounts on this portal. As recently as six months ago, the website decided to establish a specialized team to prove rumors and provide accurate information for its users. Tan Chao is in charge of the team.
“Before I took the job, I usually couldn’t identify what information was real and what was fake. But during the process of identification, we discovered that a lot of information was false, including fake photos, fake news stories and rumors that had been spread through microblogs.”
It’s not just website portals which are taking on fact-checking responsibilities, but also a number of civic-minded netizens, who recently set up a Rumor Identification Federation on Sina.com’s microblog system to help netizens identify fake information online.
Dian Zizheng is the team leader of the federation. He says they’ve publicized more than 150 pieces which contradict rumors, which attracted more than 10 thousand visitors within two months.
“We live in an age of new media, so we can’t use the old methods to prove rumors. We can’t wait for the media to prove the facts with related administrative(行政) departments and then release a formal announcement. We can’t allow rumors to run wild and then deal with it, we need to fight rumors while they’re spreading. I think that this is the best way to deal with rumors nowadays.”
Some experts say this displays the advantages of the internet compared to other traditional media. The open platform allows information to be examined and clarified by netizens. But experts like Ding Wengguo, President of the Journalism and Communication College at the China University of Political Science and Law says this self-correction function of the Internet is still quite limited.
“It’s still quite different to tell which information is true in such an open environment by just reading a number of different opinions on the same issue. This is something which we need to pay attention to. If society is flooded with too much false information, and it’s allowed to spread in such a fast manner, then people will be suspicious(怀疑的) of all kinds of information including important information from authorities. It also worsens problems relating to social communications and mutual-understanding, which in turn harms society as a whole.”
Experts suggest that the government should react more quickly in the Internet age. Once a rumor begins to spread, administrative departments should make announcements as early as possible to drive away rumors before they lead to bad outcomes.

A.prevent the spread of rumors on the Internet
B.advance the development of microblog
C.limit the number of microblog
D.urge the government to react quickly to the rumors
5.What is the best way to prove rumors on microblogs?
A.Shutting down the website immediately.
B.Substituting the Internet for traditional media.
C.Examining and checking while they are spreading.
D.Making announcements after they are spread.
6.The writer cited Ding Wenguo’s words in Paragraph 8 to________.
A.draw a conclusion B.introduce a topic
C.support an argument D.describe a scene
7.What’s the writer’s attitude towards the rumors from microblogs according to the passage?
A.Negative. B.Sympathetic.
C.Supportive. D.Changeable.

Imagine you’re at a party full of strangers. You’re nervous. Who are these people? How do you start a conversation? Fortunately, you’ve got a thing that sends out energy at tiny chips in everyone’s name tag (标签). The chips send back name, job, hobbies, and the time available for meeting-whatever. Making new friends becomes simple.
This hasn’t quite happened in real life. But the world is already experiencing a revolution using RFID technology.
An RFID tag with a tiny chip can be fixed in a product, under your pet’s skin, even under your own skin. Passive RFID tags have no energy source-batteries because they do not need it. The energy comes from the reader, a scanning device(装置),that sends out energy (for example, radio waves)that starts up the tag immediately.
Such a tag carries information specific to that object, and the data can be updated. Already, RFID technology is used for recognizing each car or truck on the road and it might appear in your passport. Doctors can put a tiny chip under the skin that will help locate and obtain a patient’s medical records. At a nightclub in Paris or in New York the same chip gets you into the VIP (very important person) section and pays for the bill with the wave of an arm.
Take a step back: 10 or 12 years ago, you would have heard about the coming age of computing. One example always seemed to surface: Your refrigerator would know when you needed to buy more milk. The concept was that computer chips could be put everywhere and send information in a smart network that would make ordinary life simpler.
RFID tags are a small part of this phenomenon. “The world is going to be a loosely coupled set of individual small devices, connected wirelessly,” predicts Dr.J.Reich. Human right supporters are nervous about the possibilities of such technology. It goes too far tracking school kids through RFID tags, they say. We imagine a world in which a beer company could find out not only when you bought a beer but also when you drank it. And how many beers accompanied by how many biscuits.
When Marconi invented radio, he thought it would be used for ship-to-shore communication. Not for pop music. Who knows how RFID and related technologies will be used in the future. Here’s a wild guess: Not for buying milk.
8.The article is intended to .
A.warn people of the possible risks in adopting RFID technology
B.explain the benefits brought about by RFID technology
C.convince people of the uses of RFID technology
D.predict the applications of RFID technology
9.We know from the passage that with the help of RFID tags, people .
A.will have no trouble getting data about others
B.will have more energy for conversation
C.will have more time to make friends
D.won’t feel shy at parties any longer
10.Passive RFID tags chiefly consist of .
A.scanning devices B.radio waves
C.batteries D.chips
11.Why are some people worried about RFID technology?
A.Because children will be tracked by strangers.
B.Because market competition will become fiercer.
C.Because their private lives will be greatly affected.
D.Because customers will be forced to buy more products.

Toronto is reminding citizens this month what exactly can and can’t go into the blue bins an you may be surprised at what can’t be recycled. As it turns out the takeout coffee cups you’ve been throwing into the recycling actually have to go in the garbage.
The city’s “recycle right” web explains that food left after a meal, woven (编织的) cloth, old VHS tapes and other things have been turning up in blue bins, where they don’t belong.
According to the city, about 45,000 tunes of garbage was mistakenly put into recycling bins last year alone.
Among those things are the takeout coffee and tea cups we get while were on the go. The city says that because those paper cups are lined with plastic or wax they can’t be recycled. The black plastic coffee lids (盖子) also can’t go in the blue bin, although non-black plastic lids can be recycled.
Emily Alfred, senior campaigner with the Toronto Environmental Alliance, said, “Millions of cups are used in Toronto every year and people are taking these out and putting them in the wrong bin.”
When paper coffee cups are thrown in with the recycling. Alfred said, they produce a harmful effect on the system.
“They can’t separate the plastic and paper in a typical paper recycling center,” Alfred said, “so it just causes pollution of the recycling process, and it causes lower-quality paper if it does get recycled.”
“New regulations passed last month call for changes to be rolled out over the next few years regarding what products companies can sell,” Alfred said. Her organization will be pushing for more producer responsibility laws, which call on companies that design and make products to take on the responsibility of recycling them.
For now, consumers can consider carrying their own reusable coffee cups while they are on the go, ask for a ceramic mug (陶瓷杯) if they plan to consume their drink in the cafe, and support their local government officials if they have put efforts into changing recycling or producer responsibility laws.
Alfred said, “I think people can change their habits easily if they understand what to do.”
12.Why is it difficult to recycle paper coffee cups?
A.It is expensive to recycle them.
B.There are other materials on them.
C.They have some coffee inside them.
D.All plastic coffee lids cannot be recycled.
13.What is the purpose of producer responsibility laws?
A.To push producers to recycle products.
B.To help producers design and make products.
C.To protect companies exercising responsibilities.
D.To encourage companies to take on legal responsibilities.
14.What does the author advise people to do?
A.Drink coffee in ceramic mugs at home.
B.Give support to products companies.
C.Try not to use takeout coffee cups.
D.Change their drinking habits.
15.What issue does the text mainly discuss?

52.How to Communicate with Our Parents
Hello, everyone. I’d like to share my ideas about the topic of communicating with our parents.
Parents are the people devoted to us most, and that is why it is necessary to keep a good relationship with them. Here are my ideas on how to make it easier to communicate with parents.
First, we should respect and trust our parents. Don’t be rude to them even if they have done something wrong. Second, if we often share with them about our life and experiences, we will know each other better. If sometimes we don’t agree with our parents’ decisions, we should try to put ourselves into their shoes and we will soon understand them.
Remember that what they really want is only the best for us.
That’s all. Thank you for your listening.
