2021·天津和平区·高三期末)    CPRcardiopulmonary resuscitation 心肺复苏术)and first aid are related topics. It could be said that first aid is the more general of the two, and training in first aid might include instructions and practice on how to respond to a variety of medical emergencies that could be posing threat to life or to a part of a person’s body. One such medical emergency could be cessation(停止)of breathing or heartbeat, and the appropriate response, in this case, might be to perform CPR. Thus, CPR can be seen as a type of first-aid response.

There can be differences in the amount of first-aid training people learn, and courses can sometimes be broken down into emergency and standard training. Standard training is actually the more extensive of the two, and would include teaching and learning how to handle a variety of medical situations like bites from insects or animals, broken bones, poisoning, childbirth, and care of wounds. Emergency first aid tends to be limited to the teaching of CPR, how to handle choking emergencies, and instruction on wound care for heavy bleeding.

CPR and first aid may be taught together or are sometimes taken as separate courses. People may need a whole day of practice or longer before getting CPR certification, which should be obtained from recognized agencies like the Red Cross. The big difference between CPR and first aid, in terms of taking classes, is that CPR focuses only on learning to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and recognize those circumstances as soon as possible in which it should be performed; while first-aid classes may teach this too, but they will teach in the broader context of how people need to respond to lots of different injuries or illness.

The issue of CPR and first aid may get confusing when people are asked to get training in one or both of these. Some people may be asked to take a first-aid course and have CPR training. Those who need more extensive training in standard first aid certainly won’t satisfy this need by only taking a CPR course. Those confused about what training they need should get this issue clear with the personusually an employerrequesting the training.

Being able to respond first in a medical emergency usually means needing to know CPR, but other knowledge could be just as essential. For instance, how to stop uncontrollable bleeding or how to handle an episode of anaphylactic shock(过敏性休克)could be vital too.

4What is the purpose of performing CPR?

ATo be qualified as a first-aid trainer.

BTo gain practical knowledge of first aid.

CTo deal with all the medical emergencies.

DTo make a person’s heart start beating again.

5What can we learn from Paragraph2?

ACPR works faster when someone breaks his leg.

BStandard training deals with more medical cases.

CEmergency first aid is more useful than CPR.

DCPR includes most courses of emergency training.

6When can people get the chance to obtain CPR certification?

    AAfter finishing the CPR training.

    BAfter saving someone with CPR.

CWhen practicing a whole day in Red Cross.

DWhen getting instructions from recognized agencies.

7What do we know about first-aid classes according to the text?

AThey are often given in one day.

    BCPR training might be included.

    CThey are intended for professionals.

DThey focus on less urgent medical problems.

8What can be a suitable title for the text?

AHow can you receive first-aid training?

BWhat can you usually learn in a first aid class?

CWhat is the difference between CPR and first aid?

DWhy is CPR the most important first aid response?

2021·江西吉安市·高三月考)    When Vanessa Garrison and T. Morgan Dixon met—back when they were both college students in L.A.—they realized how different they actually were. For one, Dixon grew up athletic, and Garrisondid not., “My family spent almost every weekend watching horse racing at the track. In high school, I participated in one trail run where I came in dead last—they had to go out there to tell me it was over and bring me back.” says Garrison.

But Garrison and Dixon were aligned in many other ways—for instance, as fans of poet Nikki Giovanni and rapper Tupac Shakur. And most important, they were connected by a passion for community building and Black women’s health. “We were struggling with things like how to have so-called leisure time or self-care and not feel guilty about it when your families have worked themselves to the bone to provide for you,” says Garrison. “I grew up in such a poor household that pleasure and joy seemed like luxuries,” says Dixon. “It’ s no wonder that nearly two out of three Black women participate in little leisure-time physical activity.”

Garrison and Dixon’s many conversations led them, in 2010, to found GirlTrek, now the country’ s largest public-health nonprofit aimed at African American women and girls.

Since its inception, more than 160000 women have taken the “GirlTrek pledge,” in which they vow to make time for themselves and walk in their neighborhoods for at least 30 minutes a day—and encourage their friends and loved ones to follow suit. “Walking is a proven medical intervention, and we know that loneliness and isolation can be as deadly as cigarette smoking,” says Dixon. “So why not have a physical fitness intervention that also creates community?”

The organization even aims to increase awareness of their historical foremothersLast March, ten GirlTrek national staffers walked 100 miles of the Underground Railroad, which was used by black slaves to escape into free states and Canada. “If Harriet Tubman could walk her way to freedom, then surely we can walk our way to better health.” Garrison adds.

12What kind of person can we infer Garrison is?

AHe likes sports. BHe is weaker contrary to Dixon.

CHe likes riding horses with his dad. Dhe dislikes to speak in public.

13Why do most Black Women take part in less sports from the passage?

ABecause they are much lazier than women in other counties.

BBecause parents don’t allow their children to play social activities.

CBecause most of them need to struggle for life continuously.

DBecause they are easier to be sick because of dirty environment.

14What’ s the purpose of GirlTrek Pledge?

ATo make people meet more new friends.

    BTo prevent people smoking cigarettes.

CTo spare enough time to take physical exercise.

DTo protect African women and girls from diseases.

15What can we learn from the last paragraph?

AWe should do something in memory of historical foremothers.

BGarrison called on people to fight against slavery.

CSome black slaves ruined the railway for freedom.

DWe should be hopeful for future healthier life and do more exercise.

    根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

2020·黑龙江双鸭山市·双鸭山一中高三月考)    As the coronavirus outbreak continues, many Americans are fearful of using public transportation. They also are looking for ways to get exercise without having to go to a gym,as well as ways to enjoy the outdoors. 16

In the United States, bicycles at big stores like Walmart have sold out.And small bicycle stores cannot keep up with demand for"family-style"bicycles:the low-cost,easy-to-ride models.

The bicycle industry is seeing its biggest sales increase since the oil crisis of the 1970s.The increase in bicycle demand began in March as countries began to close down. 17 All bicycle sales, including those for children, are up 100 percent from the year before.

18 Cities like Manila in the Philippines and Rome,Italy have created bicycle paths for the growing number of people who want to avoid public transportation. In London, city officials plan to bar cars from some central roads.

Of course, you can only buy a bicycle if you can find one bicycle. In the U.S.,the shortages now mean it may take many months to get one.19The U.S.buys 90 percent of its bicycles from China.Bicycle factories there were shut down to stop the spread of COVID-19.

In Bar Harbor,Maine,Brian Smith bought a new bicycle for one of his daughters. She is a competitive swimmer who could not get to the pool to practice. His family now goes for rides several times a day.Bicycling helps them all get exercise and enjoy the fresh air.20It's fun.

Maybe that's the bottom line. It's really fun to ride bikes,"Smith said.

ABut what's the biggest reason they go on rides?

BHigh demand is not the only reason for the shortage.

CThen who has benefited greatest from riding bikes?

DThe rise in bicycle sales is not happening just in the United States.

E.In April, the sale of bicycles for adults increased 200 percent in the United States.

F.However,no bicycles have been imported from abroad like China since the end of last year.

G.So,it may not be surprising that the pandemic(流行病)has led to a major increase in bicycle sales.

2020·上海静安区·高三一模)    The universe cannot be read until we have learnt the language and become familiar with the    21    in which it is written. According to many, it is written in mathematical language, and the letters are triangles, circles and other geometrical figures.

In human history, there are    22    definitions of "language." Whichever definition is used, a language contains the same components. There must be a vocabulary of words or symbols. Meanings must be    23    the words or symbols. A language employs grammar, which is a set of rules that    24   how words are organized.

Mathematics meets all the standards. The vocabulary of math draws from many different alphabets and includes symbols    25   to math. A mathematical equation(等式)may be stated in words to form a sentence that has a noun and a verb Just like a sentence in a spoken language.

Mathematics grammar and syntax(句法),like vocabulary, are   26   . No matter what country you're from or what language you speak, the stricture of the mathematical language is the same. Formulas (公式) are always read from left to right.

Understanding how mathematical sentences work is    27   when you learn math. Students often find numbers and symbols frightening, so putting an equation into a familiar language makes the subject    28   . Basically, it's like translating a foreign language into a known one. A formula has the same meaning, regardless of any different language that   29    it. In this way, math helps people learn and communicate, even if other coimmunostain obstacles exist.

Of course, not everyone agrees that mathematics is a language. Some definitions describe "language” as a spoken form of communication. Therefore, some people   30   mathematics as it is definitely a written form of expression.

Sign language,   31   . would be invalid based on this standard. In fact most linguists accept sign language as a true language. Also, there are a handful of dead languages that no one alive knows how to even    32    anymore.

A strong    33    for mathematics as a language is that modern elementary-high school curricula use   34   from language education for teaching mathematics. Educational psychologist Paul Ricco-mini wrote that students learning mathematics required a robust vocabulary knowledge base; fluency and proficiency with numbers, symbols, words, and diagrams; and comprehension skills, which in a way proves the real   35   of the subject as a special language after all.

2021·全国高三专题练习)People will connect to their cultural group through similar food patterns. Immigrants often use food as36 means of keeping their identity. People from different backgrounds eat different food. The areas 37 families live influence food likes and dislikes.

Food items themselves have meaning 38 (attach) to them. In many Western countries, a box of chocolate would be viewed as an appropriate gift. The receiver of the gift would react 39 (different) to a gift of cabbages or carrots. In other countries, however, chocolate might be a less appropriate gift.

They may use some local 44 (ingredient) to try their old recipes, or experiment with new recipes. Because people and food are mobile, trying to define a country's culture by what they eat is often 45 (accurate).

The concept of traffic-free shopping areas goes back a long time. During the Middle Ages, traffic-free shopping areas were built to allow people to shop in comfort and, more importantly, safety. The modern, traffic-free shopping street was born in Europe in the 1960s, when both city populations and car ownership increased rapidly. Dirty exhaust fumes from cars and the risks involved in crossing the road were beginning to make shopping an unpleasant and dangerous experience. Many believed the time was right for experimenting with car-free streets, and shopping areas seemed the best place to start.

At first, there was resistance from shopkeepers. They believed that such a move would be bad for business. They argued that people would avoid streets if they were unable to get to them in their cars. When the first streets in Europe were closed to traffic, there were even noisy demonstrations, as many shopkeepers predicted they would lose customers.

However, research carried out afterwards in several European cities revealed some unexpected statistics. In Munich, Cologne and Hamburg, visitors to shopping areas increased by 50 percent. On Copenhagen’s main shopping street, shopkeepers reported sales increases of 25-40 percent. Shopkeepers in Minneapolis, USA, were so impressed when they learnt this that they even offered to pay for the construction and maintenance costs of their own traffic-free streets.

With the arrival of the traffic-free shopping street, many shops, especially those selling things like clothes, food and smaller luxury items, prospered. Unfortunately, it wasn’t good news for everyone, as shops selling furniture and larger electrical appliances actually saw their sales drop. Many of these were forced to move elsewhere, away from the city centre. Today they are a common feature on the outskirts of towns and cities, often situated in out-of-town retail zones with their own car parks and other local facilities.
