Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-serving monarch(君王),died on September 8.  She was96 years old. The royal family announced her death online, saying she had died peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

The queen's death put her 73-year-old son Charles on the throne(王位)as King Charles III. All of the queen's children had got together at Balmoral Castle to be with her in her last hours. The queen was able to beat COVID-19 this past February. After that, however, she appeared in public much less often. She had spent much of this past summer at Balmoral. There, on September 6, the queen met with Liz Truss. She usually appointed(任命)her new prime ministers（首相） at Buckingham Palace(白金汉宫).This was the first time that she had ever broken this long tradition. The queen came to the throne in 1952. Mr. Jenkins liked all kinds of delicious foods.  As an important officer, he was often asked to dinner.  The shopkeepers tried their best to fawn on him. They knew it was good for their business. I played lots of games when I was a little girl. Mum was not always happy about  this because she thought they were all boys' games, but I really loved them.  I remember we used to play tag(捉人的游戏)the most. It is quite simple. All we needed was a group of kids and a big backyard. One person was “it" and tried to touch someone else. If he or she succeeded, the person he or she just touched became “it” and then tried to run after everyone else. The game always continued until everyone was too tired or until Mum finished making chocolate cookies!

 Sometimes we played marbles(弹球).Each player had a marble, and they were played in different places around the playing field. Each player tried to use a large marble (called a shooter) to knock the other marbles into holes (much like pool). I always got the most marbles in the end. I was very excited although my hands often got dirty, which made my mum angry every time.
