Unit9 What does he look like?(生词课)
Teaching and learning goals
Learn the new words of Unit9 in one class.Help the Ss to build up the ability of learning automonously and correct learning habit by reading and memorizing the new words individually and studying cooperatively.And meanwhile,to help Ss to form different learning strategies such as, learning by pictures ,learning by word-building and so on.
Teaching and learning steps
Step 1 Learn to read the words on P127-128
- Students try to read the words using the phonetics by themselves.
- Then read to your partner or in groups.
- Get some individual students to read and correct their pronunciations. Follow the teacher because the teacher can pronounce the word clearly and correctly.
- Read after the tape.
- Read aloud and the teacher walks around to see if they have any question.
- Get some individual students to read again to see if everyone can read correctly.
(设计意图:单词的学习坚持从个体—同伴—小组—整体的原则,培养学生自主学习和小组互助学习的能力。以便达到“授之以渔”的目的。)
Step 2 Learn to remember words on P127-128
一. Remember the words by looking at pictures.

Step 3 Consolidation of words:
1.Give the students a few minutes to try to memorize the words first. Then get them to work in pairs to spell the words or write down the words with the Chinese given. Underline the words they haven’t grasped.
2.The teacher can also give some important words and get the students to try to have a short dictation. Check the answers in pairs and correct the mistakes. If they can’t , dictate after class in groups.
(设计意图:此环节为巩固单词.给一定时间让学生消化,并通过小组或全体默写的形式来督促学生,做到及时的查缺补漏。以便达到“趁热打铁”的效果。这一环节有少部分的学生往往不达标,需要利用自习课或课余的时间让小组长跟踪检查,尽量能让全部学生顺利过关。)
Step 4编故事学单词
An Interesting Job
Joe Brown has a very interesting job. He is a police artist. Some people see crimes and then talk to Joe. They tell him what the criminal looks like. Then Joe draws a picture of the criminal, and the police put it in newspapers and on television to find him.
He wants to draw a good picture of each criminal, but this job is sometimes difficult. Many people don’t always see things the same way so they may describe the same person differently. Also, they don’t always remember well. “The criminal is of medium build and young. He has long straight brown hair and big eyes,” says one woman. Another woman says, “He is tall and thin, and he has curly blond hair. He’s about thirty years old.” In the end, the real criminal is short and heavy old man, and he has short black hair!
乔.布朗有一份非常有趣的工作。他是一位警察艺术家。一些人看到犯罪活动并告诉他罪犯的长相。然后乔画出罪犯的图像,警察把图像刊登在报纸上并且在电视中播放来找到他。

(设计意图:词不离句,句不离篇。在学生掌握本单元单词的基础上,再学习由本单元的生词编成了一篇小故事,引导学生不仅记忆词汇本身的意义,同时在具体的语境中体会它的意义。体现了词不离句的教学原则。有助于学生学习理解和使用本单元的词汇。)
Step 5 Mind map
1.Get the students to read the mind map and fill in the mind map according to the story , they can discuss in groups.
2. Get the students to retell the story using the mind map.
(设计意图:把故事和思维导图结合起来,让学生加深对本单元词汇和短语的理解,使学生对词汇从逻辑范畴上记忆词汇。进一步把词汇和具体语境的连接起来,巩固对词汇的记忆。)

亮点:
本单元的单词课堂设计基本涵盖了本单元的词汇,单词的认读部分体现了自主学习基础上的合作学习;单词的记忆部分意在引导学生形成有效的单词学习策略;故事编写则是让学生在语义场范畴内体会单词的运用;而Mind map更是培养学生树立起语篇的脉络意识以及全面分析问题和解决问题问题的能力。
不足之处:
部分学生对于语音掌握的不够熟练,不敢大胆开口拼读单词。同时本课容量较大,部分环节不能很好的展示与训练。
使用建议:
首先要对语音进行教学,教会学生运用语音拼读单词的基本规则,同时必须准备完善的多媒体课件,才能有效地增加课堂效率。
