In a quiet neighborhood near Washington, DC, two homes sit withinseveral meters of each other. The larger house belongs to Soc Page and herfamily. Over the last ten years, our lives have dramatically changed as a result of new technologies. For many of us, the ways we live and do business have changed forever.
The appearance of these new technologies has produced a new division of the global workforce, allowing people to work from the comforts of home or while traveling and exploring the globe. These new found freedoms and flexibility have transformed the way we look at our lifestyles. Today, heading to the office may mean remaining at home, sitting in a favorite coffee shop, a hotel lobby(大厅) or on a lounge chair by the beach. The ability for many people to work is virtually at our fingertips.
What does this mean for the future of our lifestyles and business? It means the lines will continue to cross between home life, work, family and social experiences. The task of balancing our lifestyle and daily activities will become essential. New tools will continue to help people manage busy plans, and assist in performance and business management.
This increase in technology will create an enhanced need for person-to-person connectivity. We are already seeing a rise in social activities to substitute the experiences of meeting people "at work" and having regular face-to-face engagement. Finding a healthy social balance will be key to enjoying the freedom and flexibility of working on the Internet.
In addition to the growing number of people in the remote workforce, educational programs and home schooling platforms are seeing similar growth. Together these two elements are redefining the conventional family. When living nearby work or school are no longer household factors, the doors to the world are open wide. These are major shifts in our lifestyle definitions and they will directly impact how we exist and interact in the world in our future lifestyles.
    32. What does the author think of the effects of new technologies on our work?
    A. They allow flexible work options.
    B. They change our attitudes to work.
    C. They affect our choices of career.
    D. They provide more secure jobs.
    33. What can we infer about our work in the future?
    A. The workplace will become fixed.
    B. The division between life and work will disappear.
    C. More of our work will be computer-based.
    D. More face-to-face communication will be needed in the workplace.
    34. Why are living nearby work or school no longer household factors?
    A. The growth of remote work and online education.
    B. The preference of people for different lifestyles.
    C. The ways of people interacting with each other.
    D. The new standard of the definition of family.
    35. What is the best title for the text?
    A. The Advantage of Working from Home
    B. The Future Changes of Lifestyle
    C. The New Ways of Communication
    D. The New Trend in Future Education
    第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
    根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
    Forging a 5G future
The future in sci-fi movies seems so close, yet so far away. Delightfully, 5G technology makes that future look easily achievable. Schools, hospitals, transportation, factories—even our homes will soon
use this powerful wireless network. In 2018, China started testing 5G mobile networks in its several cities. So what is 5G? It's the latest generation of cellular(蜂窝状的)network technology. 36
5G's benefits mainly come from speed and connectivity(连接性能). 37
People will be able to use the Internet at much higher speed than before. Imagine being able to download an entire movie in just a few seconds! That's how fast 5G will be.
38 For example, one of the biggest problems with developing driverless cars is the delay between sending a signal and receiving it. Driverless cars must be able to react instantly to sudden changes in their environment, such as a dog running across the road. This will require these cars to send and receive huge amounts of data within milliseconds (毫秒). 39 It will also allow doctors to perform operations remotely, using robots. The robots will respond more quickly to the doctors' movements.
So what about 5G's connectivity? 40 Imagine having a smart home that automatically turns the lights on when you open your front door.
"New things become possible when you can move information on a massive scale," Gordon Smith, CEO of telecom equipment reseller Sagent, told The Telegraph. "5G becomes the great enabler."
No matter where it is implemented, it looks like 5G will bring us a more exciting and convenient future.
    A. We may develop "smart" environments with it.
    B. Such speed helps other technologies too.
    C. 5G will make this impossible.
    D. It connects people's life in various ways.
    E. It is faster and stabler than 4G, the previous generation.
    F. With 5G, people can conveniently solve many problems.
    G. The advantage of higher speed is obvious.

    第二节: 书面表达
    Wednesday,10 August,2022 sunny
Yesterday afternoon I took part in the English speech contest held by my school. The topic
of it is “The book I like best”.
When I knew that the first five candidates performed very well, I felt a little worried. At the thought of the words "I can do it", I calmed down. Soon it was my turn. When I said "The book I like best is Three Days to See written by Helen Keller. From the book, I realize that it is important to live every day happily and fully", my teachers and classmates cheered for me.I gained much confidence and went on doing my best. Finally I won first prize.
Be happy every day and try my best to do everything. I'll keep it in my mind and make it come true.

    1. M: How are you getting on with your studies?
W: I’m getting on well with history and English, but math is still difficult for me.
    2. W: Hello, Paul. Let’s go fishing.
M: I don’t want to fish. Nor do I want to swim. I’d like to play basketball now.
    3. M: I don’t feel very good. I’ve got a burning feeling in my stomach.
W: Oh, poor Andy! Let’s get you to a doctor immediately.
M: Maybe it will go away if I eat a hot dog.
W: No more junk food. Breakfast is ready in the kitchen. I’ll get it for you soon.
    4. W: I heard that you liked the play last night. I suppose your wife felt the same about it.
M: No, as a matter of fact, she left halfway because she found it not interesting.
    5. M: Excuse me, Jane. I noticed this on your desk. I heard it is a very good novel. Would you mind if I borrowedit?
W: The Kite Runner. I’ve seen the movie based on it. I’m not reading it right now, so why don’t you take it homeover the weekend?
    6. W: How was your camping holiday?
M: We had a great laugh in general. It didn’t start so well—the weather was terrible when we got there and it was tiring to put up tents. Everything got wet in the rain.
    W: Oh, no.
M: But then it stopped, and my parents went off swimming in the lake. I didn’t want to go, so they left me by the tent to cook dinner. After that, they let me do the same every evening. I really enjoyed it.
    W: Good for you!
    7. M: Hello. Tom Smith.
W: Hello, Tom. It’s Mary Clark. My secretary said you called just now.
M: Yes. Thank you for calling back. I wanted to make sure you’ve received the invitation.
W: Yes, I have. I’d be glad to accept it.
M: Good. Er… Mary, some friends of mine are going to stay at Glencross for a few days after the celebration. Would you join us for four or five days?
W: Oh, I’d love to, but I’m afraid I can’t. I’ve already planned to go to Brussels on the 18th.
M: Well, would you like to stay until the 17th? I’m sure you need a break from your busy work. You work too much!
W: You’re right. Thank you, Tom. I’d love to stay until the 17th.
    8. W: Do you know anything about Dr. Miller’s classes?
M: Yes. Are you in his class?
W: No, I’m taking his class next term.
M: He is very serious and patient. He is really clear what you need to learn to get a good grade. But he is very strict about homework. Are you willing to study hard?
    W: Yes, I guess so.
M: What I like most about him is that he is a teacher who always understands others. Do you enjoy that in a teacher?
W: Yes, I had such a teacher before.
M: Did you know that he came to England last year after 10 years of teaching in America?
W: No, I didn’t, but that could be a good thing.
M: Well, take a look at everything and work out what is best for you. Good luck!
    9. W: Hello? Video Club.
M: Hello. My name is Gary. How much does it cost to join the club?
W: It costs five pounds to join and then two pounds a day for each video you take home. You pay one pound fifty for returning a video late.
M: Do you have the latest films?
W: New films arrive every week. Every month, we send out a list of new films. Once a year, there’s a video club meeting—people tell us what they’d like in the future.
M: What do people ask for?
W: American films mostly—and we have lots of those. But we also have some good British films and also a few from Australia.
M: Right. I’d like to join.
W: OK. You need to fill in a form. We have them in the shop, or I can send you one by post, or there’s one on theclub’s website.
M: I’ll go to the shop and get one then.
    W: OK. Goodbye.

    10. W: Good morning, students! I hope you’re enjoying your stay here in the mountains. Now, I’ve got some information about tomorrow’s day trip to North Lake. The bus is always very busy at this time of year, and we don’t have a car that is big enough, so we’ll take the train. You’ll see some beautiful countryside on the journey. To join the trip, please come to the café at the foot of the mountains tomorrow. We’ll leave at 1:15. You can have lunch in the café at 12:30 before we go. The ticket for the North Lake will be 8 pounds and you’ll want some money to spend at the shop so bring 12 pounds, please. When we’re there, you can choose to go walking with me, or fishing with Mr. Thomas. But no swimming—the water is too cold at this time of year. Now, this is important. We’ll meet to return to the station at the end of the day outside the Aster Hotel, next to the lake. That’s A-S-T-E-R. I’m sure you’ll have a good time there.
