教学目标： At the end of the class, the students will be able to: 1.listen and speak about what one used to be like and what one used to do. 2.learn to use used to + verb to write and speak about what you used to like. 3.If you like, you can role-play the conversation with your classmates.
教学重点： 1. Key vocabulary: humorous, silent, helpful, score... on a swim team, from time to time, such a good idea, see sb. doing, get good scores... 2. Key sentences: a.-Did Mario use to be short? -Yes, he did. He used to be really short. b.I used to see him reading in the library every day. 3. Structures： used to+verb
教学难点： Practice the structure “used to＋verb” to talk about the past appearance.

Step 1 Warming-up (PPT 3-9)		1. Show some pictures for Ss to look and describe their appearance and personality . What does he/she look like? How can we describe the personality? 2. Make Ss have a brainstorm and remember the description words about our appearance and personality.				通过头脑风暴让学生回忆关于描述人的外貌和性格的形容词。
Step 2 Lead-in (PPT 10-17)		Ask Ss to play a guessing game. Look at the pictures and guess the changes about appearance and personality between the past and now. Lead in “used to be/do” and describe the past with it. She/He used to be …, but now she/he is…				设计该图片进行比较看到凯特的前后变化，以此引出核心结构used to be/ do。
Step 3 Presentation (PPT 18-19)		Work on 1a. 1. Ss fill in the blanks on their own first. 2. Work in groups.Add more words of describing people. 3. Each group report their words. 4. Read aloud the word lists.				填单词后，多读几遍单词，为后面的学习做好相关词汇的积累。
Step 4 Listening (PPT 20-24)		Work on 1b. 1. Play the tape for Ss to listen for the first time. Bob is seeing some friends for the first time in four years. What did his friends use to look like? 2. Listen again and check answers. 3. Play the tape again for Ss to complete the three conversations. 4. Read the three conversations. Work on 1c. 1.Make Ss look at the picture in 1a and read the conversation . 2. Ask them to make conversations in pairs. 3. Call some pairs to present in class.				完成1b并大声朗读。训练学生的口语表达能力，为2a和2b听力做铺垫。
